I suppose they probably have to tell you but you would think it would cross through their minds that a pregnant women might have a partner they buy stuff for.

Or that you won't be pregnant forever. Thanks to the cost cutting measures at my hospital I've been told to stock up on painkillers for after the c section as once I've been discharged, they won't give me a prescription I'm on my own!!!

I'm still catching up so this might have been already discussed (or you might even have given birth!) but an obstetric emergency does not usually happen with no warning and if you needed an EMCS, it would be things like theatre prep and organising the people that would be the limiting factors so you taking twenty minutes to get there shouldn't be something that would affect timing of one. (I also read that although the aim is for an EMCS to be within 30 minutes, 50% are longer than that and there is no significant difference in outcomes between those that are before or after that time although unfortunately I can't remember where I read it as it was during my first pregnancy.)

Thanks for this hun. Still pregnant and am going with the birthing centre as the midwife said pretty much what you have. Although I have the occasional wobble so I am really grateful you commented on this with some sensible talk! :D

Miffymoo - thanks so much for adding me to the list. I should have done it ages ago! Totally not ready for my baby at all even though I'm number 10 I don't want to go early! Doubt I will though - not an ounce of discomfort so I think he is STILL free! Pretty sure I will reach my due date anyway :)

Amyloofoo - I'm the same. OH has been working 6 day weeks and I feel like I only see him for 5 minutes but then at times I'm a right ar5e. I didn't want to go to supermarket today - just wanted to do click and collect in the week but he needed some food so I behaved like a right moron. Fortunately he's a laid back soul and he just laughs and doesn't hold it against me which actually in a way makes me feel worse.

    I'm so so tired tonight I think I might retire - at 9pm :o

I think this is shocking! I was given paracetamol and a stronger one- can't remember the name but I think it was the same as Voltarol to take home when discharged 4 days after section. I was so relieved to finally be in control of my own meds. Was getting very narky waiting for nurses to bring me pain relief in hospital. Don't get me wrong I know they were busy but when you're only waiting for paracetamol, which I've managed to self-administer for years without overdosing it gets frustrating. Add in pain and sleep deprivation cos you're sat waiting for them and it gets very annoying. Only took the stronger painkillers for a couple of days once out of hospital tbh. Pain became more manageable once I had home comforts such as a decent bed. Also had dreadful constipation and my brother said this could be due to painkillers so I stopped them just in case. Suffering with this now too so will be trying to get an appt with doc tomorrow for a prescription. You could go to your own doc when you get out of hospital for a prescription of painkillers if you wanted but
I know I didn't want to go out for a few days so totally agree you should buy some now.

Bangton I went up at 7:30 last night (spent an hour in bathroom- sorry tmi- before bed at 8:30) Thankfully DS slept too. I get so moody when I'm tired now.

    Bad Night.

Spent an hour tossing and turning in bed wondering if I was going into labour last night (probally just nigglie pains but they went away but the worry was their) LO is abit ill with a cold so he kept me up abit later on as he breaths through his nose when he sleeps so not so much he was ill but the blocked nose was annoying him when he was trya sleep... then I got thinking about my MIL as shes about to lose her job which I know isnt my problem but I couldn't stop thinking about it...in all I probally got about 2 hours sleep.

As a result I just feel like rubbish...my mum is picking me up in an hour for sunday dinner and DS is still in his pjs(as am I) and only had his breakfast an hour ago which I forced myself to do tbh he is just been whacked in his travel cot all morning as no way I could be running after him. :( Not even tired really just have that sickly morning feeling but 100* worse then normal.
People don't know what they want until you show them.
  • Poor you Kayalana, is there any hope of getting a wee nap this afternoon if maybe your mum could watch DS for an hour? Sounds like you really need it.

Was out for dinner last night and didn't get home to quite late, Sunday lunch today with some friends who have come up from Yorkshire to visit. So glad i only have 3 days of work left, being this social is tiring these days!

Poor you Katylana, if it makes you feel better DS is still in clothes from yesterday morning. He didn't want to get undressed and since they were comfy and warm and he had a snotty nose, I let him stay in them. He has refused to get changed again so far today. Very stubborn ;)
Hope you get some rest xx

  • Hope u feel better soon Bella, but u have ur little to take ur mind off the pain!!

    Hugs Kayalana!!!

Well thought things were kicking off at 1.30 this morning..... But it must have been the Chinese I had last night!!! Both relieved and disappointed!!!!

Done the washing, cleaned the bathroom (cleaning the shower tray was not easy!!!), finished my tax return (had to go into work yesterday to get my p60) this morning. Going to finish covering the cushions for the nursery and make a cot bumper this afternoon!!! Was going to Hoover but oh has just taken it over the old house... What a shame!!!

Have my sweep tomorrow... So something to look forward to!!!

Aww Kayalana - hope you have a better night tonight. FWIW I felt like I was going into labour last night too. OH and I went out for lunch and I had a massive lasagne washed down with a pint of coke and boy did I pay for it! The pain in my stomach was unreal. Struggled to turn in bed with the pressure. Eventually zonked out but was up again pretty early. Thankfully at moment it's just me and OH. I'd struggle so much if I had a child already!

Good luck with the sweep Welsh Cosmic!

I've been to the hell hole that is Ikea today for a set of drawers for baby's room. I mean hell hole in how busy it is! We arrived 13 minutes after opening time and the 3 storey car park was literally full!

Does anyone have any Ikea furniture? This is first time we have bought furniture from there so I was wondering just how durable it will be.

We do have a really solid set of drawers that we planned to paint but after 17 weeks of home improvements we feel we are just running too out of time and OH doesn't want me sanding them and messing with them when I'm this pregnant! So we decided they will go to my mum's garage for storage and painting in a few months and we'll knock together some flat pack ones just so baby's stuff can be put away.

Meanwhile my OH is finishing painting fitted wardrobes and 2 upstairs doors and then I think we will be done and dusted bar some light shades and accessories in baby's room which is easy enough for me to sort.

Starting to feel as though I won't get to due date now as baby seems to be testing out dropping and then coming back up again. Does anyone else have that? I can feel intense pressure at times on my pelvis and then nothing at other times. So I'll think he has dropped and then think nope he isn't coming! But I have very tingly boobs and Braxton Hicks a good few times a day. See midwife on Wednesday where she is bound to say he isn't engaged as I thought I was feeling pressure at 36 weeks and he was totally and utterly free!
