miffy I feel a bit the same. I've done everything not to take tablets or medicines while pregnant and then to take something that has never been confirmed as being safe just seems so contradictory. I mean they stop you taking medicines including hayfever relief because they cannot have pregnant women testing them yet they deem the vaccine safe with no basis for it. I'm torn too though I keep thinking just go. . Medical professionals know better than I do but then put myself off. I've 2 weeks and then it's no longer an option to have it so this week I'm either having it or standing by my decision not to!0

Ultimately it's your decision. I'll be having the whooping cough (and flu vaccines) as I've weighed up the risks of both having and not having the vaccination and have decided that having them is right for me and my child - I don't think anyone is in a position to judge if you come to a different conclusion. I also asked DH how he felt as I wanted to involve him in Bumpy's healthcare choices. I know you'll have seen the NHS information, but it's worth stating again anyway:
"There is no evidence to suggest that the vaccine is unsafe for mother or baby if used in pregnancy.
The vaccine, called Repevax, has not been clinically tested on pregnant women because clinical trials don’t usually involve pregnant women. For this reason, evidence on safety in pregnancy can be limited. A similar vaccine (without the component that protects against polio) has been used in America in pregnant women, and there is no evidence of risk to the health of the pregnant woman or the baby.
Repevax has been used in the UK childhood immunisation programme since 2004, and has an excellent safety record. All of the components in the vaccine have been given singly or in combination to pregnant women without any evidence of harm to the mother or her baby."
It's worth noting that just because something hasn't been through a clinical trial involving pregnant women, doesn't mean it hasn't been tested - this vaccine and all of its components have been widely used. I know what you mean about feeling completely contrary to the other advice given during pregnancy though, and thinking carefully about the decision is a sign of a good Mummy
Whatever choice you make, I don't think anyone can criticise as long as it was a fully informed decision.0 -
I had the WC jab - relative decided to rock up at Christmas with her ill kids... turned out they later got diagnosed with whooping cough so I had to go for bloods to check if I'd been exposed or had any immunity or whatever. One of her kids was a 3 week old or so baby, who'd caught it from dad who hadn't been vaccinated himself and had picked it up and transmitted it that way. I don't quite swallow the antibodies that might be passed on line - but I did know from the bloods that I had no immunity to it (I was 99% sure I'd not been vaccinated as a kid - think it was the one that my mum had decided on skipping) and didn't want to catch it myself and pass it onto the baby so went for it because of that line of logic alone.Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0

Littleskintdragon - I'm nervous too! Can't wait to meet my little lady but still a bit scared, this time tomorrow ill be at the hospital, at least I'm first on the list so it'll be over and done with instead of waiting around all day
I went to mothercare yesterday to exchange my Moses basket mattress because Its to big and apparently it's the only size they do! So going to have to order for somewhere else and because i don't have my receipt they won't give me a refund so going to have to exchange for something even though I don't need anything, although I do need some formula so might just swap for a few tins of that

Baby girl due September 20130 -
I think my view on vaccines is that prevention is better than cure. We can prevent most things...we can't always cure them and there are hundreds of millions of folk around the world who would give their right arm to be able to protect themselves (and their children) against illnessess we tend to ignore or refuse.
Just my opinion. As Amy said, it's a personal decision and we are fortunate enough to live in a society with choice.
Very very best of luck to the 2 ladies having sections tomorrow. Will be looking out for updates

Morning all, hope everyone is well
Good luck to those with inductions and c sections booked! Still got 11 days to go until my due date and it can't come quick enough.
Thought something was starting this morning, I've had light period type cramps on and off for four or five days now, then earlier this morning got a weird pain and tightening over my tummy - only lasted about 5 seconds though, and only two of them about 20 mins apart, so don't think it's anything :-(
Glad to report hoovering got done at last yesterday (at half 8 at night!). I think me almost breaking down in tears may have had something to do with it! And at least DH does it properly, pulls out all the furniture etc, where as I just give it a quick run over! Also, now we have a nice clean car, the car seat base has been fitted in so its not kicking about taking up space in the house.
DH has promised that as he's off next weekend, we can re-arrange furniture in the house - currently have to move the tumble dryer if I want to take the buggy past! Also planning on going for a meal and to cinema if bean hasn't appeared, seeing as its possible our last weekend we can do that without the need for a baby sitter! So at least he has something to look forward to after the housework is done lol!
Does anyone have any recommendations for slings/baby carriers. Both DH and I like the look of the Connecta Integra, however I'd really like something I would be able wear while breastfeeding, and not sure how suitable this would be? I quite like the look of the Moby wraps too, but DH isn't keen and I don't think he would wear it. We don't have a lot of money to spend so buying both isn't an option - I've been looking out for 2nd hand but even then they can be pricey. No sling library near by unfortunately so can't go along to try them out.0 -
Good luck for tomorrow Bella.
An9i77 - sorry to hear your news, hope they get it sorted for you.
My OH isn't practical at all. He can do the basic domestics clean/ cook (not iron), but why is it that I can see things that need doing but he has to wait to be told? Luckily we have a cleaner as we both work long hours & we have decided to keep her even when I'm off work. It's a luxury I suppose but I like to know everything is clean & it's one less thing to stress about with a new baby.
Some general gardening/ decking painting also needs doing. OH could do this - but hasn't so I have just decided to get someone in to do it. It just seemed easier than having to 'ask' him to do it - that makes it seem like it is something he is doing for me rather than him taking responsibility for our home. Anyway, I'm not going to get stressed about it as long as it gets done.
Bought this changing bag from M&P this weekend.
http://www.tesco.com/direct/oioi-mini-geo-2-pocket-hobo-changing-bag-poppy-red/130-6048.prd
Unusually it was cheaper in M&P (£80) & then 20% off. I also had a £15 voucher so only cost me £42. Not sure OH will be so keen if he has to use it!
I had the whooping cough vaccine. No pain/ after effects for me. Agree it's a personal choice but for me it was the right choice.
Looking forward to hearing about this week's arrivals.

Flower that dress is lovely
Kerri: unfort I also started leaking at about 20 weeks, thankfully it lasted about a week and I haven't had it since. I found washable pads by far the comfiest so had been using little lamb bamboo pads but haven't used any since. I am sure I will need them again soon though! x
Welcome Amyfooloo *waves* lovely to see you here xx
Vic: thanks for the M&P link, they always have such lovely things but I am always put off due to price so £10 off will be great! x
Angel how did your baby shower go?
Lobey baby monitor wise we had the Angelcare movement and sound monitor. I really liked it as it reassured me baby was breathing ok (my son had respiratory issues) it also had the temperature on it. We got given a video monitor which we've used since as it enabled me to keep an eye on my son without disturbing him. We will use the Angelcare again this time x
I had my 4D scan this weekend it was wonderfulbaby has grown so much! She's still a she LOL! She is now breech so explains why I have been so uncomfortable, she had her hands by her mouth sucking them and feet by her face too so kinda curled into a ball?! The sonographer commented on how she has v long legs and is fairly chubby for 28 weeks along, (not classed as large but just chubby arms/ legs) she looked a lot like my son it was lovely
cannot wait to meet her now!

Thanks everyone for the advice, I really think having video/motion sensor will just panic us more than necessary so think we've settled on the tommee tippee closer to nature digital sound one with night light and in built thermometer.
Bride to be we are going to go for the oyster baby sling, just a piece of material really but my friend has been using here for 18omths and her LO adores it. Also means you can feed on the go!
Good luck to the ladies having babies tomorrow! Nice to know they'll be with you at a definite point in time x0
