  • Good luck Bella & littleskintdragon! How exciting knowing you will have your babies today.

Thanks to kscarlet and everyone for their best wishes for my baby shower. I've not had one before but it was fab. 30 of my closest friends and some family and it was lovely to catch up with them all while I still can. Played a few fun games. My best friend is a man so he wore his mrs' top as I told him it was only for ladies. Was really funny. We have practically everything so said no presents but Herbie and I were thoroughly spoilt! Someone even bought me a massage for after I've had Herbie which I thought was very thoughtful. Fab day. Thoroughly recommend having one. Xx

I think I'm getting that SPD or whatever it is? I had my midwife appointment today but didn't mention it cause what can they do really even if they did.

I've had abit of pain walking but nothing major but its mainly at night if I roll over to the other side it really kills and I have to do it slowly...and I do like to toss and turn ... :( And sometimes when sitting down or getting up if I move in a certain way etc it really hurts suddenly but not all time so idk just really plays up at night maybe from being still so long.

Guess something Ill just have to put up with as its not that bad atm... although I think this is first day that walking has actally been painful (but again nothing I can't bare)

Its weird thinking that I am going to have baby this month or next :D I do hope its early!! 4 weeks to go as of tomorrow.

It's worth mentioning - get it on your notes since once it's there, if you need physio or whatever - you've got that first step done. I'll be honest - I had it to crippling levels both pregnancies and found the physio of limited help. They gave me a support belt that goes around your hips under your bump and tubigrip to support the bump which helped a bit but was so uncomfortable to wear that I didn't bother much. I ended up on crutches which helped a lot - but not viable the second time around with a baby already to deal with - I ended up wrecking the frame of our pushchair by leaning my weight on it.

More importantly though - it has some implications for how they handle you during birth. I'm convinced quite firmly the residual problems I have (I'm on the waiting list for physio since mine is one of the rare cases that hasn't gone away after birth) are because of my eldest's birth where they ignored the pain-free gap I could open my legs completely and yanked me about completely once they'd put the spinal block in to be able to use forceps - I think they've caused some permanent damage around there as a result. Second birth and the INSTANT I mentioned SPD they handled my legs like they were made of glass or something - everything was done double and triple checking they weren't moving them too far apart when I had to go to theatre for another spinal block (my placentas don't seem to come out and I've had to have both removed manually).

Gist of the advice I got given - try to keep your legs together wherever possible - getting in and out of the car being a key one... sit on a carrier bag if needed to help you and imagine you're a film star getting out onto the red carpet - so bum down, legs around together and try to make sure that none of them get a flash of yer knickers.... as opposed to my usual routine of one leg in, !!!! down, realise I can't lift the second leg over into the door as my pelvis has gone again, swear like mad, and end up grabbing your stray leg by the trousers and lifting it in manually!

Shopping trollies and hoovers - avoid if possible - I find that the force needed to steer them really really still sets my pelvic pain off now - the slight incline on Tesco car park has made me cry in the past.

Pillow between the knees on a night - this one is the one that is the only thing in the world that can sort my flareups now - you want your legs basically to run parallel - if you lie without something between your knees then they'll run angled toward each other at the ankles where your legs are skinnier.

I found a nice warm shower letting the water trickle on the back of my hips and backside, while I moved around gently under the water - doing things like slight hula hooping movements and butt wiggling helped get things loosened up and moving on a morning when it was really bad getting out of bed.
