I have to have a little talk to myself when I start getting cross about jobs that need doing :rotfl: OH works long hours and quite often puts in a lot of overtime so feel like I cant really moan at him about it.
He has 3 days off next week and we already have things that need to be done on all those days, feel pretty bad that he doesn't get a day to just chill out at home and do nothing! Have got a small list of little jobs that need doing, but I know he'll do it because he promised last week.
We have a tommee tippee monitor, but its one that has the sensor pad (dont use that bit for DS now) so not a basic one as such.
This is going to sound really stupid, but can you use two monitors in a house or do they interfere with each other? I cant hear DS from his room so we still use his monitor.
This is like me and DH - I feel bad for asking with help to do the housework when he's working 70+ hour weeks - today is his only day off this week and already we have a HUGE list of stuff that needs done. I got cross earlier as top of his list is weeding the front garden and taking junk to the skip - where's the hoovering I asked you to do on Wed?! He's at the skip just now and the hoover will be left in a nice prominent position for his return, ha ha!
We're not bothering with a baby monitor - we live in a bungalow for a start so no stairs to worry about. And when bean moves into her own room, it's right across the hall from our room and we can arrange the furniture so we can see the cot from our bed if both room doors are open. If we move, we may get one then depending on the house we buy.0 -
Opinions please, is this 'dressy enough' for a wedding?

Would you ladies mind telling me which baby monitors you've got? Don't really want anything fancy like a video one as its really for when its out of our room in six months time. Something basic would be great to hear breathing/crying etc. any recommendations welcome as it seems a little overwhelming!
Hiya,
I've been lurking for a while now (am 33+2) but we were discussing monitors last night. Found a free app I can download to an old mobile called IP Webcam - runs through Wifi so I can stream the phone webcam through to my laptop. Cheaper than a monitor!
Still considering sound quality (it is delayed slightly) etc. but hopefully I have cut out a bit of expense involved even if I do manage picking a monitor up closer to the time!0 -
Baby monitors - we have a couple of non-video ones as we've got two kids sleeping in different rooms at present.
Have a Fisher Price one - sound sensitivity on it is good but the parent unit wire socket is a bit of an annoying connection - if it's half in then it will cut off battery power but needs to be really rammed in to pick up mains power so sometimes it comes loose and switches the unit off.
Have one of the basic Motorola ones (the one that goes just into plug sockets) - it's good but much quieter - at the moment with my ear jammed up with wax (due to get it syringed in a fortnight it's that bad and they NEVER do ear syringing here) I can't hear it at all.
Just bought a Motorola wifi monitor as well (preparation for braving the big girl bed thing with the eldest) - arkward as HELL to set up, but since we did it's really good -can turn lullabies on automatically, watch it from the phones, tablets or PC (it's all password protected), talk back on it, have it pop up phone alerts if sound is detected in the room and it's got night vision. I didn't think we needed a video monitor previously but we had a couple of incidents when it was really really really hot weather and the eldest was sick in the night so we ended up using a laptop webcam in the room and skype as a work-around temporarily.
Made the mistake of going into Mothercare earlier today and they've got the new version of our double Nipper buggy in - want one now! It's sooo dinky - well, for a double! (I've been through a LOT of doubles but really love the Nippers - when we go down to a single and buggy board if the eldest ever deigns to let go of the furniture - I'm going to get a single Nipper without a doubt). Only went into Mothercare for PJs - eldest's were all bought in her current size in the summer so are all short sleeved ones as that's all that was in the shops and she needs some long sleeved ones available for her now - find Mothercare's PJs slightly bigger on the fit than the usual Tesco or Primark jobbies, so since I want a bit more mileage out of them I've gone there intentionally this time.Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -

Dizzi, to help with the ear you can angle the hot water from the shower into your ear to soften the wax. I normally use one of those bulb squeeze things filled with warm water to sort mine out. Works a charm.Diary: Getting back on track for 2013 and beyondDEBT FREE 13-10-13 :dance::dance::dance::dance:

Hi ladies hope everyone is well and those who are due or overdue are not getting too fed up waiting!
I've three weeks to go - need to get my hospital bag packed this weekend.
I've had some bad news, I have diabetic eye disease and there was always a risk that the pregnancy would progress it as it can make it much worse, but my doctor said he thought this was minimal so gave me the go ahead to start trying for another baby last year.
Well despite being told all was well at my check two months ago, I had a massive bleed in my right eye yesterday -currently can't really see out of it and they may need to do an operation, I need to wait until after the baby has been born and then see what they recommend but it's fairly likely.
I'm a bit gutted to say the least and this has definitely taken the excitement of having a new baby away, it will be a real struggle to have surgery on my eye with a newborn and toddler but I guess I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.
I just need to get through the next few weeks now and hope my vision has cleared a little for when it's time to have my section.
The only slight positive point is that it's better this has happened now at 36 weeks than much earlier on as I only have a few weeks to go now.
So - a bit glum today but I need to cheer up for the sake of my little one and just press on really. I don't want to let this ruin the birth and excitement of meeting my daughter.0 -
Hi All,
Hope everyone is doing well. I'm rubbish at keeping up. I seem to be so busy lately getting stuff organised - only 6 weeks to go now! Definitely getting slower and more uncomfortable and given up on a good night's sleep but no way I want baby to come eralier than he/she is ready. Been drinking my RLT and will up it to 2 cups a day this week.
an9i77 - hugs. Sorry to hear that your eye is playing up. I hope its not too painful for you and that it can be fixed asap after the birth.
Flower08 - lovely dress. I think it would be fab for a wedding
lobey - we have a BT digital one for DD - sound only. I will get a video one eventually when I move baby into DDs room. I wish I'd got a video from the start. It's ok - it's a recgargable battery one so we could take it round the house and in the garden but I think the recharge is starting to wane now - so we just leave it on the cradle in our room permanently so that I can hear DD at night time. Definitely go with digital over analogue for sound quality - but I don't know if they still do analogue nowadays?
Lola - I remember that well. Used to have a lovely shower and I would just drip milk afterwards. Really weird. But I'm quite looking forward to !!!!!! star boobs again even if it is only for a day or 2 - must take a photo this time lol!0
