Just realised it's my niece's birthday tomorrow - looks like I'm forking out for next day delivery, nightmare :rotfl:

I got my nails done last night and I love them. I know I'll have to compromise on acrylics when baby's here as they're not all that practical but I spent about 2 years with them on prior to falling pregnant. Took them off almost by accident (had an appointment to get them done the weekend my granda had passed away and it obviously didn't seem that important) and haven't had them done since...now I don't want to give them up again!

I had my nails done yesterday too, I had gel extensions with shellac polish so they will last for a good few weeks, figured it would be ok with baby as I purposely had them short and strengthened, they aren't at all sharp either

Plus it was an hour and half where it was just about me and cheered me up so much having pretty nails!

I got acrylics - pointy ones =/. They're not going to last until baby's here anyway (hopefully! ;)) so it's just a case of not getting them re-done. Suppose it's just another step in the transition from "Clare" to "mummy"!

    WOW, I love them!

I know what you mean about transformation to mummy - still doesn't seem real to me!

Claree... I think it is MORE important to continue with things for yourself once you have a baby.. I don't have and never have had an issue with longer nails as a mummy .. I haven't yet poked out an eye or anything.. Mine are probably a bit longer than yours at the moment, most are just an acrylic coating but a couple have tips too).. I have fitted carpets, decorated, still do all the housework (I advise gloves to stop the cleaning products lifting them) and nappies etc..

Made the pic smaller 'cause it totally !!!!ed up the board last time :rotfl: sorry guys!

Mine used to just be the coating 'cause mine were long enough but they're tips now because I've had them off so long. I stripped wallpaper with them on last night to no detremental effect! I'll wait and see. It's only £15 a time to get them done so I'll maybe do without after these ones and see how I feel around baby...I don't want to go shorter or squarer though 'cause I'm just not a fan!

I don't like the short square ones either..

Mine are rounder rather than pointy. This is my 1 luxury given I don't smoke or drink or go out or eat lots of chocolate :p.. I don't even stretch to hair dye or haircuts.. I rarely even do make up.. sun cream (so I don't get freckles :p) and a splodge of mascara is about as good as it gets.. so I am a total scruff with pretty nails lol.

They are the most important bit I feel :rotfl: I've already downgraded from high end to high street make up - what more do people want from me? :D

  • Thanks Kanichen for the tennis ball advice - it sounds excruciating but I will give it a go (when I get my hands on a tennis ball thats not filthy from the garden obviously)!

Second day off with sick son today - although he seems much brighter! I am so tired today I could sleep all day!

I am finishing at the end of term which will make me 34+3, but summer holidays mean my maternity leave doesn't officially start until my due date of 1st September which is the day before the new term starts.

Excuse me while I rant but b&q are flipping useless!
Order placed Sunday afternoon with next day delivery so I presumed delivery Tuesday - fair assumption I thought. No dispached email or anything so I called this morning. Lines were busy and they asked if someone could call me back - fine.

No call back, I called again - spoke to someone who said they tried to deliver at 12 o'clock but no one was there. In my office. To add insult to injury, I work for a parcel delivery company - there's signs all over the building outside and we get at least 3 or 4 parcels a day outside of the normal mail in the morning.

I have to go pick this up at the post office now (taking time out of work) and then call them back about out of pocket expenses. Rage.
