I was going to take one of the ready made milk sets into hospital with us as we are planning on FF feeding - I assume there is some facilities for heating the milk on the wards? Don't want to ask my midwife until she brings up BF which she hasn't done yet, though seeing her Wednesday. 31+2

Someone else on the baby bargains thread had said Kiddicare are saying Amazon charge 7.99 for next day delivery - so we'll see what they will refund. This would be the 25% price difference refund so similar to the Amazon price. Still a bargain (but would obviously prefer the lower price).

The ready made milk is to be drunk at room temperature they won't have heating facilities I wouldn't have thought for health and safety reason.

Do your hospital not provide the ready made bottles?? I though it was a standard thing xx

As bella said, the ready made stuff is to be drunk at room temperature. When I has DS, the hospital provided those glass bottles for the duration of your stay but there were no facilities for using your own bottles, sterilising or powdered formula. It varies across the country though.

Thanks, I have no idea what's provided at our hospital as not been and not spoke to the midwife about it yet. Just wondered if there was a standard yes/no but I suppose with the nhs that's never the case!
( Have just read the info on them on the boots website and it says they can be warmed if required or fed at room temperature )

On the car topic, I've got a Peugot 3008 which has a massive boot & I think it will be great when baby is here. My car is always clean & tidy - I can never believe the state of friend's cars who have kids. Wonder if my views will change .....?
I have two children and I'm still amazed at how messy/dirty some friends' cars are - last time I went in one friends car it actually stank.

TTC40 from what I remember midwife saying hospital provide bottles, you just need to take the formula. And those jumperoos are a life saver! Great for keeping baby contained for a bit if you need to get on with some housework!
I think it varies depending on your hospital policy - mine you are expected to take formula and bottles if you are planning to formula feed but if you planned to breastfeed then they'll give you formula if you need it. Mine has all the different brands - I've seen the huge stash as I was weighed in the storecupboard once when I was admitted.

Just heard from the make up artist re the make over photo shoot competition I won asking if I could make it this Friday about 1ish. She's just waiting to here back from the photographer with an exact time.

How lucky am I.....not only because they've managed to fit me in before I have baby but also because I work in a school and decided just to work tomorrow and Wednesday as they're training days.

Just have to take a few outfits along and any props if I want. Now to think of ideas props wise to include in some photos, might take some of baby's outfits to lay on my tummy and had a look at the website and some ladies have posed with a scan photo on their tummy.

  • My mother in law made a point of asking me if I was going to want to dress the kids the same when I was pregnant with the second (obviously with an 11 month age gap some people would think it was cute)... I said no, I really wanted to make sure they got their own identities and not treated as some kind of fashion parade (yep I'm a sucker for cute "different" clothes but hopefully you get what I mean)... she keeps going out of her way and making a big thing about how hard it's been to find this stuff - and buying them identical outfits - ggrrrrrrr.
How infuriating and given how close in age your two are and I am baffled as to why she would find difficult to find identical outfits. I think it would probably actually be harder if they were twins as some shops only have one of each size.

I always gave my son ready made milk at room temperature - meant when we were out and about I just poured a carton of ready made into a bottle and was ready to go, no faffing about with heating. He never knew any different (well his bottles at home were heated, but he never seemed to notice the difference) and it was fine.
Last time round the hospital provided milk, this time I've been told to bring my own due to NHS cost cutting!
