Angelmommy wrote: »Kscarlet - I think it is the same. I didn't get it when pregnant with the girls but its horrible. I find going for a wee can really hurt and sometimes trigger it off. I just can't seem to walk very far anymore before it starts. Only have weekends off and spent all day in bed. :-(
I know what you mean about family too - my family contact me at least a few times a week, more so when I have scan, gtt etc to find out how I'm getting on. My in-laws however - I rang her to tell her we were pregnant after our 12wk scan - her first question was: did my husband/her son know?!? And I saw them in town a few weeks later and I asked how she was, work was etc and she didn't ask anything back. Nothing else from them at all. This is their first grandson. Dd2 is first grandchild. There is another granddaughter now too 5yrs old. I've told hubby that unless they start making an effort incredibly soon, they won't be welcome when he's born. Tbh it sounds harsh but even hubby is frustrated with them - he's so proud to carry on the name etc and have the first son yet they're just not interested.
Sounds v similar to my pain, lots of triggers for it and stopping the pain is difficult especially when you already have LOs to look after. Sorry if TMI but I am also finding DTD is very painful even for days after. I never had this at all in my last pregnancy the same as you xx
An9i77 sounds very familiar! I am not exactly expecting people to 'go crazy' but just a bit more interest would be nice. I am a bit disappointed about my family as I have had so many issues with this pregnancy but it really feels like they aren't interested at all in my wellbeing or the baby's xx
Bangton I don't think you sound ungrateful. I have to admit though if we don't buy everything we need I doubt others will buy it as presents. We did get bought loads of outfits/ bath things for my son but the items I hinted towards weren't bought. Same with my sons birthdays/ Christmas presents etc I always hint towards certain gifts when people ask but they always get something completely different. (now I sound a bit ungrateful!) I've only got a few more bits we need for baby now!Trying to save for a deposit

Glad it isn't just me Badly! For example my son had some wooden trains/ tracks for his birthday and people kept asking what to get him so I said what we were getting and suggested some trains/ more track. I even sent links to reduced ones to save them money. Not one person bought him what I had suggested! I know its not the end of the world and I sound so ungrateful but I would have just got the other bits myself if I would have known! The only item I have asked my family to look out for (my parents go to a lot of car boot sales!) is a moses basket stand! Everything else I will just buy what we want so at least then I know its the brands/ types I want!! x
Thanks Bangton Re: Argos I've just ordered a swaddle blanket (£6.49) and some more Mam bottles (£7.49) there's a good deal for 3 swaddle blankets for £14.99 but I still have a couple from my son so I only need one more. I ordered a really reasonable Mam set someone posted in here I think but I needed a couple more bottles xTrying to save for a deposit

I bought the Mam bottles a while ago and was just debating getting a few more since they are so reasonable.
There's also a Mamas and Papas changing bag. On Mamas and Papas own site and Amazon it's about £35 but is £9.99 for the pink version on Argos or £12.49 for the Aqua version. Not available for delivery but they had some at my local Argos so I've reserved. Reviews seem good and looks nice on M&P website.
I love a bargain. Apparently Morrisons have some good offers on so I'm going to go down when OH gets back from work with the car (which I was supposed to be having today to vac but was too lazy to get out of bed and take him to work!)0 -
Just taken a few gifts back to Mothercare & now have £44 on a gift card. Was tempted to spend on a few things whilst in there but resisted as I will see what else we get bought over the next few weeks.
Other than a tin of formula in case breast feeding doesn't work & some flannels/ sponges, I don't think there are any other 'must haves'. Nursery furniture not coming for another 2 weeks so can't really sort stuff out though. Staying chilled about it at the moment as there's nothing can be done to get it any earlier.
Do you take formula/ bottles into hospital? What about sterilising?
Been to see midwife this morning. All is well with baby. She was surprised that I have been signed off work. I told her about being told I would be admitted at 36 weeks & she said that some women just refuse to go in. She said that it's unlikely they would be doing anything whilst I was in (assuming there was no bleeding prior to that) & therefore it was just so I was there in case I had a bleed/ went into labour. She said that the women who stay at home just say they will call an ambulance if there is a bleed.
Back to the hospital for a scan next week so will discuss it with them then.
On the car topic, I've got a Peugot 3008 which has a massive boot & I think it will be great when baby is here. My car is always clean & tidy - I can never believe the state of friend's cars who have kids. Wonder if my views will change .....?0 -
LOL TTC40 my car was always immaculate pre kids but I have to admit I really struggle having the time/ energy to keep it clean! I did have it valeted a couple of weeks back then my son comes along with muddy shoes kicking the back of the seats/ leaving rubbish in there so it looks a mess! I also found having a pushchair in the boot makes it dirty as when you are walking you pick up mud/ stones etc. I am quite particular with my pushchair though and it doesn't stay dirty for long! I also never have the time to just vacuum/ wash my car especially since afternoon naps were dropped x
I took cartons of instant formula into hospital with me. My hospital provided sealed glass bottles that were sterile and teats that I used for expressing into/ formula feeds. My hospital did provide ready made formula too but my son was tube fed Aptimal in special care but the maternity ward only provided SMA so I got my DH to purchase more Aptimal to avoid mixing milks when he was so little. Its worth phoning the maternity department to check as although mine provided milk/ bottles they didn't provide bedding for the baby not even sheets!!
Re: Formula I will probably pick up a few cartons for my hospital bag. I don't have a clue what to go for, I am sure C&G is the same thing as Aptimal just branded differently (and priced differently!) so I might get C&G
Bangton I ordered the 3 extra bottles as that bargain Mam set we got was fab but theres only enough teats for using 4 bottles at a time, not all 8 so I figured at least I will have 7 now and the spare bits of the other bottles (its worth having a few as I felt like I was constantly washing bottles!) xTrying to save for a deposit

Did I really say I didn't need to buy anything? Why have I just ordered a Jumperoo?
OK, it was a bargain on Kiddicare (pricematch with Amazon). Will only cost about £44 & was going to put it on the Christmas list.
My Mum or brother will probably buy it as a Christmas present - I just like to know it's been bought at the best price!:money:
Got weighed when I was out earlier. I am the lightest I have been all year & 10lb lighter than when I got pg! Might change now I am 'resting' i.e. not burning many calories. Bear in mind my BMI is still 36 so nothing to be proud of but I am delighted I have controlled my weight during pregnancy.0 -
I'd recommend the avent food storage pots, especially at that price might get some more for myself, they came in really handy for freezing expressed milk and then later on for storing home made baby meals which I would cook in batches.
I have to admit to being an absolute car slob! I'm quite fussy about keeping my house clean but when it comes to cars I am a disgrace. We've just purchased a bigger car so hoping to turn over a new leaf with this one and keep on top of things!
Has anybody looked at dummies? DS2 never took to them so its been a while since I've bought them, was thinking of getting a couple but not sure which ones to go for.
TTC40 from what I remember midwife saying hospital provide bottles, you just need to take the formula. And those jumperoos are a life saver! Great for keeping baby contained for a bit if you need to get on with some housework!0 -
Nessie, do you have the same Mom as me?! I think my mom is disappointed after my midwife updates as (luckily so far), I don't have anything to report!
My husband and I have sorted everything now regarding 'stuff' but that is because we are hopefully moving house when I am 34 weeks pregnant (waiting to hear about completion date this week!) and I had to know everything was ready for my sanity. My parents are also complete nightmares with getting stuff organised so I haven't really got stuff with them or anything- I bet they left it until my mom was in labour to start thinking about getting stuff ready for them! I love them dearly but they are an organisation disaster
I am not having a baby shower. I was horrified at the thought when my friend mentioned it in passing- totally not my kind of thing at all and I would just feel really awkward.0 -
Now I really want that jumperoo, the one I have is fine but its a basic one that doesn't rotate and I love the fisher price rainforest stuff! Must resist.......0
