fluffysox - sorry you might of already said but how old is DS?
DS was on 90th centile when born and carried on until he started moving. He hasn't been weighed for ages (really must take him! I'm a bad mummy :o) but I would guess that he is no where near that now, he has slimmed down so much because he is running around like a mad thing all the time! He is 22 months old. Maybe speak to HV? But I really wouldn't worry too much :)

Hugs Fluffy please try not to worry. I wouldn't look at the charts, if he looks ok to you there shouldn't be a problem. My sons been the lowest centile since very young but top for height. He is just tall and skinny (unlike me) he has a fairly good appetite so I'm not worried. Toddlers burn off so much energy running around/ getting into mischief/ asking millions of questions lol x

I will try read through later, got a poorly little man on my hands :( can't remember who posted the photo but love the bump with ribbon :) x

Thanks everyone for reassurance. Baby brain plus sleep deprivation means I read the graph wrong. He is 25th percentile for weight and just over average height. Age 27 months. Relieved ;)
Meanwhile at however many weeks pregnant I am (baby brain strikes again!) I have gained exactly 2 stone, slightly more than my DS weighs lol ;)

  • Wow, I am number 35 already!

Alas, I am here for a quick (but possibly very stupid sounding) query. Having bought a beautiful pram in the excitement of "oooh, our first baby" and not having a car, we didn't quite consider the boot implications and how it would affect our future car buying. As we are now looking for a car, and ultimately seeing the size of the boot(!), we are getting a bit nervous!

So, in short, I wanted to know if anyone knew the laws about car seats. I have looked online but cannot seem to find anywhere that specifically gives an answer to this question. Is it legal, and safe, to have an ISOFIX seat firmly attached in the back seat of the car, and where the seats can 'split' have the other half of the seat folded down? I was dubious, as it doesn't seem like the best of ideas. but thought I would ask anyway. Perhaps someone else has done this (if it is legal to do so)?

Many thanks and congratulations to those who have already had their little ones arrive :)

I think most back seats do this but the half left up is "clicked" into place and therefore must still be safe to use with a seatbelt- otherwise the car manufacturers would have to make the whole back seat go down as one. I would assume ISOFIX would also be OK by the same logic but I've never had an ISOFIX carseat so I'm not the expert.
However even in my old Clio which had a small boot my big Silvercross sleepover pram and traditional chassis just fit in the boot. Just put bags etc on back seat or in footwells. Currently I now have a Ford Focus (3 door was killing me lifting carseat into back) which has a bigger boot and my husband has a Skoda Octavia which has an enormous boot.

    33 weeks today-:checked calendar ;)

DS has eaten well today so hopefully won't wake hungry. However he has a "Notty Nose" now so that might wake him- so bedtime for me. Unfortunately next door have grandkids staying over age 3 and 6 and they are still up and making excited noise :(

  • Thank you so much for your reply Fluffysox. We have the Mylo travel system from Mamas and Papas. We haven't had it delivered yet, but I remember reading on reviews that although people generally seemed to like it, they did think it to be a large pram for fitting in a boot.
My partner and I love the Kia Picanto, and it fits our budget (just!), but when we went to look at it, the boot was miniscule! Absolutely teeny!
We're looking for small, relatively cheap, cars with accomodating boots, but it is proving quite tricky. We saw the Hyundai i10 today, but we didn't particularly like it. The search continues ... (though, when the Mylo arrives, I will try to take it to a Kia showroom and test it out!).

    Evening all :)

Haven't posted in a few days congrats on all the new arrivals :) can't believe I'm 6th on the list and I'm having my section on 10th September so no chance on being overdue. I've got a growth scan tomorrow not sure there's much point to be honest, it's because the midwife measured me at 36 weeks at my last appointment when I was 35+2 and said it felt a big baby and then the doctor checked and only measured me at 32 weeks who knows lol not to worry either way baby will be here within the next 2 weeks.

I'm really fed up now getting lots of back ache and Braxton hicks OH is getting concerned says I should mention it to the doctor tomorrow I've told him its normal but because I've never had them before its all new for him he's panicking

Anyway take care everyone, hope we all get some good sleep tonight :) xx

The mylo isn't huge. We were going to buy it and it fit in our corsa (new shape) and that doesn't have the biggest boot in the world. I'm told the Honda jazz has a lot of boot capacity if your looking for a small car. .. and they are reliable. Depends exactly on your budget though. We are replacing our car shortly and I'm Defo going to stretch to something a bit bigger boot size as all the hatchback style cars have similar boot sizes and once the prams in there isn't much room for anything else!! Nissan notes have huge boots too btw but depends if you like the style of them :D

Sorry you're not sleeping kscarlett. Try to have a nap when you can. Little pip likes to wake me early in the morning with a kick to my ribs! Oh well, I'd rather he be kicking than not!

In term if birth plans, I think it's gonna be to let them do whatever they need to do. Not keen on having pethadine as it made my sister very poorly.

Thanks hun, I am struggling to catch up with sleep at the moment as I work, study, have a toddler (who doesn't nap) and DH who works away all of the time :( hopefully once DH is home this coming weekend I can catch up! Glad you are feeling lots of kicks though, bubs here likes to wake up around midnight and make me very uncomfortable! I do love feeling the movements though :)

Bella seems a pointless scan! Hope your BH/ backache improves though, not long to go now! x

*fingers crossed* for a good night sleep Fluffy x I am avoiding weighing myself at the moment, I feel like I've gained loads!

No.40 on the list LOL! Really cannot wait until end of November to meet my baby :) I felt so nervous/ scared last time but this time I just feel so chilled and excited to meet her. Hopefully will start on her nursery soon, I've ordered my wall stickers :o (you will not believe how many hours it took me to decide on them!)
