Don't take my advice with any medical expertise but when I asked at a MF appt the other week about occasional pins & needles I was told that it can just be the fact that the baby moves & rests on some different nerves which can trigger pain.

I had a day a couple of weeks ago where I felt in pain all day but I think it was just the position.

Have you tried laying/ standing/ sitting/ walking - basically trying to get the baby to change position to see if that helps?

If it continues or you are concerned, take medical advice (rather than mine!)

Yeah i thought it might be him lying on a nerve. It feels like nerve pain. Just keeping an eye on it, will call my midwife if its gets any worse. It's bloody sore though!!

Sorry you're not sleeping kscarlett. Try to have a nap when you can. Little pip likes to wake me early in the morning with a kick to my ribs! Oh well, I'd rather he be kicking than not!

In term if birth plans, I think it's gonna be to let them do whatever they need to do. Not keen on having pethadine as it made my sister very poorly.

  • Congratulations to all the new arrivals! Can't wait for this one to get here :)
Feeling really achy, sore and tired and have had a bit of a show, so hopefully it won't be long now, knowing my luck I'll end up induced again though!

As for birth plans, mine is to get baby out and as long as we're both happy and healthy, well that does me! Have written a couple of things down, but I figure what's the point of a huge plan because in the throws of labour when you don't stick to it, or things happen out of your control you just need to go with it and not have something to beat yourself up with afterwards (something I've seen people do way too often!)

Still undecided whether to have a sweep or not on Thursday, that's if I'm still waddling about. When do you ladies get offered them? Last time it was term +7 and this time she's offered me one at +4, nice to know there's a standard eh?! :rotfl:

Hope you've all enjoyed your BH weekends!!

Re: birth plans - I considered donating the blood in the umbilical cord to stem cell research but wanted to discuss it with midwife. However, she was not happy I even considered it and said these days most women choose to wait until it had stopped pulsating, then clamp it and cut it. This wasn't the case 9yrs ago - it was just clamped and cut so I had figured if that little bit of blood could help other babies/children with leukaemia or even for it to be used as research, this would be a good thing? I felt bad for asking and am none the wiser! Last weekend at 30wks, I did a basic birth plan - hubby wants to cut cord, would like to use birthing pool if they would let me, pethidine if need pain relief - no gas & air (makes me sick for 24hrs) etc. not sure how I feel about students in there either.

Sittingonastar - good luck! Exciting to be a boldy.

With DS I was offered one at 40+2. I had a routine appointment and had been having mild contractions every 15 minutes anyway, so she asked if I wanted her to examine me, then said I was 2-3cm anyway so offered a sweep to get things moving.
I think you're right though, there is no standard practice :rotfl: some people I know have had to go at least a week over before offered one, but I have also known people to be offered them a couple of days before due date.

Are you constipated? Pressure on a full bowel can induce these types of pains
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
  • See, as daft as it sounds too Flower, I'd have preferred her to have offered one at +7, then at least if I'm interfering he would be a September baba :rotfl: I know its not the be all and end all, but as long as everything's OK I'd like him to make his own mind up!! :)

    Dilemmas :rotfl:
When I was offered one with DS, I only had it because I was so fed up of having mild contractions every 15 minutes for nearly 48 hours. I wasn't exactly in pain but was uncomfortable and tired by that point and wanted him out :rotfl:

Can you not ask to make another appointment in a couple of days for one? Then if nothing happens by then you could go back at term +7?
