  • BadlyWrittenPoem - unfortunately I've had vasovagal syncope quite bad for 27 years. Not only do I have low blood pressure but my body doesn't make enough salt which doesn't help. I have them regularly and can have 3; one after the other. I often convulse while having them too. I had a bad one at 6am on a Saturday when I was 6m pregnant with dd2 and rushed to hospital to get her checked over - they checked heartbeat but sonographer wasn't in until the Monday so had a horrible weekend wondering whether I had broken any of her bones! Not nice. Pain and stress can bring mine on as well as being poorly. I had a good chat with mom about it earlier - think I would be best in hospital as last time I started to get the 'feeling' that I'm about to blackout and midwife gave me pethidine to stop it, this was with me laying down. If I was stood/sat up in a pool it would be harder for me to delay or stop the blackout. Think I've just talked myself into hospital! Thanks for the advice, I appreciate it. :)

Thanks everyone, still no parcel! It was sent via courier Vic. I've emailed PL who are looking into it. I hope it's found.

Re: pads I went through hundreds but you never know how many you'll need. Best to purchase a pack or two then go from there. I bled for 8 weeks :( I hope I don't this time. I just got some cheap black pants from primark, they were higher up than I normally buy but so comfy lol! I just binned them after.

Bangton you sound just like me with my first baby :) honestly the rush of love you feel once they are here is scary! I'm not a v maternal person but my son is my world. It's amazing how having a baby changes you! X

Fluffy that's good your DS wants to use potty at night, my son still wears a nappy at night as he won't get up in night for loo! X

    Well, eventful scan yesterday.

Placenta is still totally covering the cervix so as expected a planned C section. No major concern there. Likely to be at about 38 weeks.

However the consultant then went on to say I need to rest from this point. He said 'in the past' women would have been admitted to hospital for rest but he thought I would kill him if he told me I had to be in hospital for the next 7 weeks.

However it is highly likely that I will be admitted at 36 weeks for 2 weeks pre-birth. He said that in the meantime I need to rest. When I asked about work, he suggested that I should stop (even though I have a desk job). TBH, I just left in shock as I wasn't expecting anything other than c -section a week or two early.

Went back to work & spoke to my boss (who is great). Said I thought working from home would be OK as it's restful & I would just go into the office a couple of days a week.

On reflection & having read (probably too much) about the risks I think I need to heed the advice & look to finish work soon. I'm thinking at the end of next week. Will leave them in a mess at work but I have to realise the health of the baby & I are the most important thing. My boss will be fine - it's the pressure I put myself under. I suppose if I went into early labour they would manage so at least this way there will be a bit of a handover.

The rest is to minimise any chance of bleeding as this is the risk. Therefore I need to reduce pressure on the cervix.

Too much going on in my mind to sleep!

Oh TTC that is frightening, especially when you had a plan in your head! You're right though, you need to think about your health and your baby's and all the rest will fall into place. At least you'll get a date to work towards and know when your little one will be arriving!

Oh TTC40, I really feel for you. You must do what's best for you and baby. Your boss sounds great, letting you rest and work from home.

I hope you get to the bottom of your missing parcel today scarlet.

Toothfairy, have you tried gaviscon? Works wonders for me. Failing that, maybe sleep with your head elevated? X

I really love that post. Thankyou for replying. It's so daunting and exciting and overwhelming. Nice to know I aren't the only one who has thought ' is this for me'. I feel terrible saying it to be honest but I'm by no means a child/baby person. Then I see pictures on here and thank my lucky stars im pregnant. Such a weird set of emotions. Totally bewildered some days to be honest! ! I just need to get him here and start my new life I think. He's very real but very not real as well! ! :)

I feel exactly the same. Little pip is my first baby too x

Crickey TTC that must have been a shock, sod work as you say you & baby health comes first.

I keep finding it hard to connect that this tiny person moving inside me will be out about 10 weeks (I'm 29+5), I know I'm desperate to be a mother but at the same time it doesn't seem like its really happening!
