Updating my list of things that still need to be bought...I know it's hard to say as everyone is different, but how many maternity pads am I likely to need as a minimum? And are disposable maternity knickers good to have as well? Can tell its getting towards to just the boring things left to get now :p

With regards to pads, I had to send my mum out to get me some more really thick ones as I had only bought thin ones and I bled a lot after DS. I also bled for heavy for quite a few weeks and was using those big horrible ones for a good four weeks :o so went through loads :rotfl:

I didn't buy disposable knickers, just got big cheap ones that I wouldn't mind throwing away and will probably do the same again this time.

Jessi did you have chicken pox when you were younger? Shingles isn't contagious, it's always surpressed in your immune system once you've had the chickenpox virus but comes out if you get very low. If you haven't had chickenpox it's nasty in adulthood but should be bearable. Sorry I don't know much but I do know shingles virus is not contagious as shingles! X

I was advised to double up on them to start with, I would say you need one pack in the bag and a pack at home (I had asda 10 packs orignally I think they worked really well)

You can always buy more as by this time you'd most likey be up on your feet anyway (and looking for an excuse to get out the house :o)
People don't know what they want until you show them.
  • no i never had chicken pox as far as we are all aware, that's why the little bit of panic, i know googling it is the worst thing i could have done but apparently it can be dangerous late on in pregnancy

    Evening all

I'm going to take 2 packs of maternity pads then move onto the night time pads and see how I go from there, as far as disposable knickers go I've never bought any but I do remember the hospital putting some on me after last baby, I remember them being very comfortable and kept the pad in place really well, they do seem to be fairly expensive though so might be better just buying some big cheap knickers instead.

I'm loving all the Baby pics making me so excited to meet my little lady :)

Not had a great day hips and pelvis are feeling so much pressure now :( luckily DS1 has been keeping himself busy playing out and DS2 has been being fairly good lol

My friend is due day after me and has lost her plug and wasn't sure if her waters had gone she's been to the hospital and they've sent her home said waters intact but it could be the start of things, I was getting all excited for her lol just makes me think how close its getting

Don't buy too many pads.. the hospital give you a couple of theirs to start with.. I used a pack of 10 with most of mine, a couple I used 2 packs but usually 1 pack to soak up fluid after my waters broke and a second pack after the birth. I stopped bleeding in under 2 weeks with the last 3.. Delilah arrived on the 9th and I used 10 maternity pads 4 regular pads and have used pant liners for a couple of days.. I stopped bleeding completely on Monday.. she was 10 days old... you aren't necessarily going to be bleeding for weeks or heavily afterwards.

Hugs Fluffy I've really struggled getting up with my son when he's been poorly recently. I hope your son sleeps through for

I could cry! I think my pink lining parcel has gone missing. Apparently it's been signed for, not by me though :(

Oh no- have you rang them? Hope you get your bag soon. My DH had ordered a new desk and not told me to expect delivery. So today I was at the swings with DS at the end of our road and saw a courier van go past us. Ob return home they'd tried to deliver to our house. So I have to wait in all day next week. I like to get out every day, even if its just taking DS out on his trike. He gets bored stuck in all day and won't understand that we're waiting for a delivery.
Re: sleeping, we have good weeks where DS hardly wakes up but then he goes back to waking every couple of hours. Woken once so far tonight- shouted us to let him use potty. Better that than wetting bless him, but he is still in nappies at night cos only just potty trained. Been dry at night for a week or so but it may be his bladder waking him.

I have one pack of maternity pads from wilkinsons- I used less than one pack last time before going on to nighttime Always. After 2/3 days it was just like a heavy period for me so normal s.towels were fine. Its different for everyone but I can always send mum out to get more if needed. I bought some disposable knickers last time but found them tight and uncomfortable. They were "large" and I am typically a size 12-14. So I would just go with cheap big cotton ones.

It is SO hard to imgaine your first baby, now I am on my 2nd all I can see is my first although we know they most likey will look nothing like each other!

Tbh... my OH wanted kids, and I kind of wanted them but same time I wasn't 100% sure if I was ready..so all up in my pregnancy I had days of 'is this what I want & days of 'I'm so lucky gonna be a mum' kind of thing.

It wasn't untill the 3rd day of having him that I couldn't sleep and he was fast asleep next to me that I was just so overwhelmed with love for my baby that it really hit me. I couldn't be without him now.

I really love that post. Thankyou for replying. It's so daunting and exciting and overwhelming. Nice to know I aren't the only one who has thought ' is this for me'. I feel terrible saying it to be honest but I'm by no means a child/baby person. Then I see pictures on here and thank my lucky stars im pregnant. Such a weird set of emotions. Totally bewildered some days to be honest! ! I just need to get him here and start my new life I think. He's very real but very not real as well! ! :)
