Morning ladies
I've woken up to the most horrible summer cold, feeling bl**dy miserable. Hate the fact I can't take anything other than paracetamol, its not even touching my sore throat. Normally I take everything going, and I have a heap of pills and medicines sitting in the kitchen cabinet laughing at me! So does anyone have any pregnancy friendly a sore throat remedies?! Just been to tesco and got some saline nasal spray, figured if it can be used on newborns, its fine for pregnancy.
Also used my club card exchange vouchers before they run out next week, so got a tommy tippee breast pump and microwave steriliser along with a changing mat for £30s worth of vouchers.
Hope everyone is having a good weekend!0 -
strepsils!.. or honey and lemon for the throat. I have some of the vicks throatspray.. it isn't ingested so goes nowhere near the baby.. and is the same stuff a dentist would inject if you were to have a tooth out while pregnant.
beconase for the snotty nose .. also prescribed during pregnancy.
paracetamol with codeine.. codeine is a cough suppressant and this is often prescribed during pregnancy so OTC stuff is fine.
I just take all the stuff I'd normally take tbh.. cold and flus capsules, strepsils extra, vicks sinex.. I am unbearable if I have a cold.. my 2 boys have been snotting all week and I am hoping my hayfever flare up isn't the start of me getting it!.. One of them has diabetes so I have about 4 lots of cold medications in the house depending on who it is for.. I have to admit OH takes most of it being a bit of a wuss!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Thanks PP! I have sore throat spray, and codeine with paracetamol -which I think is the soluable kind so can gargle with it too as I find that normally helps. I have some ricola throat sweets too, but not sure if they are safe as they're herbal, does anyone know? Google just brings up loads of American sites that contradict each other!0

herbal stuff is usually fine.. having had a speedy check they seem to be ok. only one source saying they aren't but that looked rather dodgy and was saying not to eat other stuff such as parsley!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0

Well my sore throat which I thought was linked to my hayfever (snot = snoring = sore throat ) is actually tonsillitis again!!! I have very pretty yucky spots in my throat.. fingers crossed I can fight it off myself and don't need the ABs which will mean a trip to the quack I do NOT want to make
... from past experience they won't give me anything without prodding the baby first which I am not subjecting myself too.
Todays bonus... we are not breech... today...
MV he is rather gorgeous... I may steal him! Mine have been out of the bath for 4 hours to have a liberal coating of mud and snot!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Afternoon all, hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine.
For the 1st time in my life I am wearing a skirt....Having been overweight my whole life, I enjoyed last year being 'slim' and wearing dresses for the 1st time to weddings/parties etc.
I got a bag full of free maternity clothes back in March and today decided to see what I looked like in a denim skirt. Was impressed, lol and have loved feeling sooo much cooler with not wearing trousers etc.
Popped into tesco on way back from my inlaws, if you don't mind buying larger sized clothes instead of maternity labelled ones they're some bargains to be had.
I'm wearing size 12/14 maternity range clothes, but today for £7 each I picked up a flowery t-shirt and black/white floaty dress both in a size 18. Very big on me at the moment, you don't notice my bump like you do in the maternity clothes I have, but that is what I wanted as hopefully means for July/August I'll be able to still wear them.
The dress looks fab with my maternity leggings on underneath and its elasticated just under the bust so is perfect. For £7 each I just had to ignore the size.
Had my diabetes test on Friday morning, was told if I don't get a call by Tuesday then that would mean all is fine. My sugar level at 8:30 am was 2.4, found it interesting that then at 10:30 am my finger wasn't pricked to reveal the sugar level, blood was just taken from my arm. Of course hoping I don't get a phone call.Mummy to two girls: October 2013 and February 20160 -
