  • It's 26 weeks in terms of how long you need to have been working in order to qualify for smp.

I bought up the topic as I looked it up online and it states that your employer must confirm within 28 days after you notify them how much smp you'll get and when it will start and stop.

I got a reply from my head teacher with my start and finish for maternity leave, when I must give notice about returning to work and then a break down of dates in terms of my 90% pay period, 1/2 pay period and then smp.

But it had no mention of figures.

Again like some of you have said I assume I am entitled to it as well as the full amount as I have been in this job for 8 years.

Congratulations on all the new babies :)

Can I ask have most people had the whooping cough vaccine? I'm really not sure whether to or not :/ the MW said its basically to protect the baby from birth to 6/8 weeks once they have the actual jab.

MV all sounds very frustrating, hopefully it won't be too much longer for you xx

I had the vaccine. For me, the thought of my baby with whooping cough unnecessarily wasn't a risk I wanted - although I accept vaccines are not without risk.

No problems after - although some people do report a sore arm for a day or two.

    Hi KScarlet

I had mine today at 31+3. I was in two minds even up to an hour up to having the jab! Only because my OH is quite anti vaccine and he does have a tendency to scare me with all the other ingredients of vaccines etc etc however I felt that if I didn't have it and my baby caught WC in the first couple of months I wouldn't forgive myself. So had it this morning and have a very slightly sore arm if I press it and that's all so far!

Re Mat leave/pay I have also had a letter from my employer breaking down my pay dates and confirming my return date. Only 3 weeks to go now for me :D

MV - sorry you've had such a carp appointment. It must be so frustrating :( hope things are moving for you!!

Baleb - hope things are moving soon for you too!

Yumyums - I have just bought a mattress protector for our crib which I will cover with a fitted sheet and then put a folded muslin wrapped around the mattress where baby's head goes to mop up any sick!

Bangton - hope you are feeling better for having a rest; don't forget to drink lots! I feel dizzy and lightheaded and sometimes nauseous if I haven't had enough to drink. I have to keep reminding myself to drink more than I would normally do........

Courgette - it's good that you are calm about waiting; I think I'm really going to miss my wriggly bump when it's all over :( Obvs I will be excited about having the baby though!!

Oooh pants I have just had a scan at the list - I'm finally in the twenties!! Hehehe!

Hope everyone else is well; hugs xx

MV ... Baby link not sure if it will work but I'll leave it up a bit.. She's grand.. eats sleeps and... does the other :p It all seems a bit like we've had her forever. Dot absolutely adores her and Squeak is quite smitten too.. just got to get OH on hand and we should be sorted :p.

I didn't have the WC vaccine.. I've never had any vaccinations and I'm not starting now.. plus the toxic crap they put in them cannot be good for anyone.. each to their own and all that.

My vaccinated daughter got WC last summer while pregnant and her son ended up in hospital at the beginning of August when he was about 5-6 weeks with WC so the vaccines aren't all that good either! I know the scaremongering says cases are on the rise.. but.. in this area there were 4 confirmed cases.. hardly worth panicking about! They are harping on about the 'rise' in measles cases now.. there have been 2 cases in the whole county!! 2!!!

KScarlet I had the whooping cough vaccine - make sure you get it on the opposite arm that you sleep on!

MV must be so confusing to get conflicting advice. It really diminishes faith in the 'professionals'

    baleb sending you labour vibes!

Bangton hope you have treated yourself to lots of rest and looking after yourself. I think the dizzy tired spells are my most hated pregnancy symptom.

Kayalana congrats on the hair! I'm hoping my baby has hair.

I'm liking this cooler weather but I was roasting in the evening lying on the sofa! Bubba being cute and wriggly throughout the day thank goodness. 32+3

KScarlet - I've just had my WC jab at 5:30. Arm was ok until my 9yo cuddled up and lent on it - now it's really aching and arm feels heavy. Very pleased I asked for right arm as I'm sleeping on my left side - a tip from someone else.

    29+1.

Thanks everyone I'm still not sure! Part of me thinks maybe I'll leave it but then if anything happened to the baby? I will speak to DH once he gets home xxx good advise about what arm to have it done on!

I just feel so achy and uncomfortable. My bump is huge and I've a lot of low down aches. I'm not sure if some type of bump support would help. I'm only just over 24 weeks!
