I agree some people really do just think they can say what they like to you and about your appearance just because your pregnant.
I have had someone say 'are you sure theres not two in there'. Obviously what they didn't realise is that this pregnancy did start as twins one of which I lost at 12 weeks. But why cant people just keep their mouths shut then they have no chance of upsetting or hurting people!
Ok rant over here as well :rotfl:
You see that's horrid. ..to lose a twin and then be asked that!! I was up till one last night typing up a performance document for work. I'm knackered. ..woe betide anyone who comments on my bump. .. yesterday I got the whole why is my bump pointy. Hmmmmm perhaps because there's a human in there not a perfectly spherical ball. Oh the joys! ! I'm feeling alot of pressure down below today. .. wondering what he's up to. ..or sat on because I almost feel I can't close my legs. He shouldn't be on way cos I'm only 31 weeks and saw midwife two days ago.0 -
I agree with you all; why do people think its ok to say such things just because we're pregnant? We're not public property! I'm not as big as I was with my second and all health professionals have said I have a perfect bump and he's bang on size-wise, yet 2 people have called me fatty, lots have said I am huge (I'm not) and tbh I find it upsetting. I'm proud of my little bump but fatty? Honestly! I wouldn't mind but they're both bigger than me too and they said it in front of others. Flower08: that must be horrible when people say that to you, I'm sorry for their stupid comments.
Congrats Lola. Nice to get to 24wks.
Bangton: anxiety is normal. If its any help, I love the giving birth bit. You will only ever experience that sense of overwhelming love/pride etc when you see your baby for the first time. It's so amazing. I'm also trying to enjoy this pregnancy as much as possible and not wish the weeks away as I remember I missed feeling the girls kicking etc when they were out. Helps now the dr has given me awesome pills for heartburn!

morning all,
Have been reading but not posting for a while as nothing much to report.
GTT went fine, boring but fine. They call you the same day and since I haven't had a call (test was Weds AM) I'm hoping no news is good news (well, that's what the midwife who took my blood said!)
Apparently I have lovely fat veins too! What a compliment!!!
Got my 28 week appt on Monday (I'll be 29 weeks, but it was timed so that I could get the GTT and 28 week blood results at the appt) and then dentist on Tues which I'm dreading but has to be done! Then I have to book the whooping cough jab.
Had a bit of a spending spree online recently - Mothercare have some sheets and cellular blankets in their sale so I bought a few of them, and I finally ordered the mattress for my 2nd hand carrycot. It's fun ticking jobs off the list! but now come the big jobs...painting and decorating! Starting next weekend I think. Can't wait to have bub's room looking all pretty!! I am loving 'nesting' haha! Will have to wash all the clothes and blankets, etc, soon too!!
Had my first 'oh my god I have to give birth' panic yesterday. It has seemed so far off until now, but only 80 days til due date!! time to start doing some research for my birth plan I think!
Hope everyone is well.
Clare thinking of you in and out of hospital, hope you're alright.
Anyone else finding that maternity bras (non underwired) just squish your boobs together?! I've started getting a little rash on my boobs from where they are permanently squashed against each other so had to resort to putting a bit of tissue down there to seperate them! Miss my lovely underwired bras that would lift up and apart!!!0 -
My last day at work today (can't wait) and I'm going shopping for hospital bag essentials tomorrow.
My bump is measuring 28cm and I'm 33+3. Previous growth scan showed the baby to be fine so I'm not too worried. Babies come in all shapes and sizes and the measurements are never exact. My DS was only meant to be 5lb and came out at 7lb7!! That was him 8 days late.0 -
I will be taking everything anyone says about how I am measuring with a big pinch of salt this time.
With DS they told me I was measuring small, even sent me for extra growth scans where they still said he was small. Told me to expect him to be around 5lb, he ended up being 9lb 4!!
I was so stressed and worried about him 'measuring small' and then he came out that size :rotfl:Biggest Loser Weight Loss: 13 / 20 lb0 -
Well 34 +4, scan on Tuesday was still measuring bean 3 weeks ahead. The hospital not concerned, but I think the reality is starting to hit the OH. He has had one job to do, clear our the babys room and paint it, thats all I have asked him to do, I think the reality has hit him that the baby could be here 3 weeks!!!
Next on list to wash moses basket stuff, just in case and get Hospital bag packed. This will be the task on Sunday, as I have a spa day and evening meal with my friends tomorrow as My friend is having a civil cermony in 2 weeks. I cant wait to catch with eveyone, as we are all spread out all over the country. Fun trying to sort out Bikini line last night, cant see anything so just hoping its ok... I dont think it will matter, my bikini bottoms will disappear when I put them... I think I will be mainly wearing a robe!!!
Also got to find bedding as have some friends staying over, have spotted duvets (which OH said he will get out for me today, wont hold my breath!!), cant see the pillows!!! the back room is just full of unpacked stuff from the move!!!
People saying I am looking good... whats that supposed to mean... did I really look that bad before!!! And 'god your big' comments are fun... when I tell still another 6 Weeks to go!!!
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!!!0 -
Morning all.
Bump measuring 30cm at 29 weeks (although that's my LMP due date, scan date makes me 29+5 yesterday, so not too fussed). Baby is back to back and has its head in my ribs. Very very painful. Went to ikea yesterday, then popped to my in-laws who pointed out that my ankles are puffy and the midwife is clearly not doing her job properly as she should have checked them. I was polite and found a diplomatic way of saying "it's 31C outside, I've been walking around Ikdea for several hours and my feet were fine earlier when I saw the midwife".
Only got about two hours sleep last night, so I'm a bit grouchy today...Don't worry about typing out my username - Call me COMP(Unless you know my real name - in which case, feel free to use that just to confuse people!)0 -
I have started to get the 'big bump' comments now and I am only almost 28 weeks. The last measurement I had by the MW was fine, so I just try to ignore them! Looking forward to my next appt next week.
Having said that I DO feel massive todayThink it's the weather and suddenly I hate everything I have to wear for work (which isn't a lot now!).
Starting to get really bad hip and leg ache at night now that keeps me awake. I wonder if a body pillow would help? Annoying as I keep waking up with numb hips. Having a massage tomorrow though and I can't wait for that!
Hope everyone is doing well and has a good weekend0 -
Last day in work today :j
I'm still measuring quite big so midwife is sending me for a GTT on Tuesday. No sugar in my urine, but they want to know if they need to test the baby when it comes out.
I am still hoping I go early as I think my dates are a bit wrong based on my LMP. MW said this baby will be 9lb + at 40 weeks, so I don't really want to go 12 days over my EDD as I'm only 5'2" I am trying not to get too upset and take it with a pinch of salt, but I did have a bit of a cry to my Mum yesterday. Feeling a bit better today and trying to stick to my 'it's got to come out somehow' mantra.
TMI alert - I think a little bit of my plug came away yesterday, so hopefully things are progressing. No sign of anything since though.

Hi all - Don't know if any of you are local to me, but thought I would ask anyway - Has anyone heard any reviews about the midwifery led unit in Walsall? I can't seem to find any on the web, but would really like to go there
Work are starting to pester me about my leaving date, I keep telling them that they need to work out how many days holiday I will have left before I can tell them when I'm leaving, have been asking for 3 weeks and they've still not done it, feel like I'm talking to myself sometimes
Hope you are all well
