Hi Little Flower, have you tried looking on the New Look website? Another good place is JoJo Maman Bebe - some of theirs are really pretty and not much more expensive than New Look (they have a clearance section too but it gets picked over quickly). I also really liked a couple of work dresses and a top I got from John Lewis in their clearance department - they were all Seraphine which is pricier still but they fit beautifully and I'll be able to wear at least one post pregnancy. Seraphine have their own website too if you google it, but it isn't on Quidco, while the others are.
I've heard good things about Isabella Oliver but it was just too dear for me...
AFM, FIL is very kindly coming up later on to collect the dogs, and then OH and I will have the house to ourselves for what I hope is the last time for a very long time. Am due at the hospital tomorrow morning for an induction, so keeping my fingers crossed that they don't get lots of spontaneous labours this morning which might delay my admission!
I am now thinking of discussing an elective C section with them because I don't think baby has engaged any further, and I get the impression that the pessary and hormones they give you to induce labour might be aimed more at ripening the cervix, rather than doing much about the baby's position... That also makes me a bit nervous that the labour might be very long and protracted as baby finally makes his/her descent. Feeling a bit wussy about that TBH.
I'm also feeling a bit nervous about the problems the last midwife had locating my cervix - it was very ouch having her rummage aroundand I'm pretty sure that normal deliveries involve a lot of poking and prodding up there to check the extent of dilation. Let's hope either my cervix drops down a bit or they can give me some drugs which work!

Pessaries help to ripen the cervix, whereas the pitocin drip will induce contractions which should push baby down.
Some midwives just hurt! I think it depends on the midwife you get, so hopefully this time you'll get a gentler one!0 -
Ooh thank you more suggestions, will check them out.
Isabella Oliver does have some beautiful things! I had already seen them but you're right they are expensive. Whilst I would love to get one I just cant justify paying that money whilst having debt and soon to be two children! Might have a look on ebay though, wonder if anyone is selling any there.
Eek, good luck tomorrow!! I hope you dont get kept waiting around. How exciting!!Biggest Loser Weight Loss: 13 / 20 lb0 -
Try Ebay as well Flower, I've found it pretty good for maternity stuff so far.0
-
Yep I reckon Ebay might be the way to go - my friend who has some Isabella Oliver stuff said the fabric was very good quality, so hopefully someone a similar size to you will have already bought new and then sold on. I've a couple of things which I barely got to wear and so they're in great condition, so no reason why you won't find something that someone else only wore once or twice!0

Morning all.
Oscar - I was induced with DS. Only given the pessary, no drip, at 8am. Got twinges from 10am and was wired up to a monitor. At 5pm they said they would probably put me onto a ward for the night and see how I was the following morning which disheartened me. At no point did they give me an internal. By 6.30pm I felt the contractions were painful so they gave me a shot of morphine.
At 8pm there was a shift change and the mw that had been monitoring me said she would see me in the morning and introduced me to the "new" MW who said to DH and I that she was going to read my notes and make us a coffee then would be back. My waters broke 2 mins later - DH got MW who whipped my trousers and knickers off and DS was born at 8.06pm after 2 pushes.
Enjoy your day with DH and just think within the next 48 hours your LO will be here. xxx

I'm wearing a non maternity maxi dress for the wedding today. Bought from John rocha at debenhams. £65 then £13 off in sale. I hope to be able to get a bit of wear for work out of it too - bit sparkly but it seems a waste to wear only once.
Dressed up with hat & wrap, don't feel too frumpy - til I turn sideways.0 -
I've found ASOS quite good for floaty work dresses that can be used for an occasion. Also go up two sizes in H&M and they have stretchy normal dresses you could accessorise up!0

Does anyone else get asked if their baby was planned? I have a 16yo and a 9yo and lots have asked me if this one is planned. I have even been asked a few times if its the same dad - last time by the midwife! They go quiet when I tell them it is the same dad - it just took 7yrs to conceive this one plus we lost one last year. Honestly, what's wrong with people!
Sorry, feel moody today. My niece told my daughter that she was sleeping at ours last night as my sis & Boyf were going out, don't mind too much but to be asked myself would've been nice. Niece turned up at 8:30pm (due at 6:30) so had assumed she had eaten - she hadn't. Sis due to pick her up this morning but got a text an hour ago saying she will grab her once she gets rid of her headache!!! Niece is a bit hyper (my 9yo is pretty easy so im not used to it!) and I'm shattered. Had to take them food shopping and now both myself and hubby and moody - it was a nightmare. Tesco self service now also think I'm a shop lifter thanks to the girls throwing in snack a jacks without scanning them first! It was humiliating as the assistant had to take everything out of the bags and rescan the lot - a huge shop this week too. God I need alcohol!!!
Sorry guys, had to moan somewhere!!! Wanted to go into town but can't be doing with the stress of taking them :-(:eek:DD1 June 1997
