Bella2121 Thanks for the info re: Matalan, will have a look tonight as still need to get some sheets.

IHateDida, thanks for the info re: baby toy. Hadn't occured to me until I read your post, that we haven't bought little man any toys as yet and the reviews were awesome so will be ordering one tonight.

Thanks to anyone posting about offers etc, I find that very handy. I work full time and flake out once I finally get home so am finding I don't have the energy to research these things, especially car seats/prams etc. Need to pull my finger out soon and get organised!

Wow what a hassle to log back in after the weekend updates! It would no longer recognise my email address as being registered, yet when I tried to re-register using it, it would tell me it is already in use! I tried to register using a different email address and it looked as though all had gone through fine, yet wouldn't let me do the log in. Grrr. Very frustrating! Helpdesk weren't very helpful although I expect I am certainly not the only one that has had difficulties. (Hence why it will call me a new user!)

On a good note - I managed to get my wedding ring off - woohoo. My finger totally went black and hurt so much but one last pull and it came off. Bruise almost gone but hey, I don't care. Was so upset at the prospect of having it cut off.:j

With DD1 who was born March 2012 I didn't get any maternity nighties, I just got 2 cheapies from Primarni, they had buttons down the front so I could undo them and breastfeed. I just got a bigger size might have been 18-20. I was thinking they were so cheap I could afford to chuck them out if they got covered in blood and stuff, but they wash well and I was still wearing them after and now I'm pregnant again I'm wearing them so well worth the money!!

I bought four cheapish in sainsburys with the same idea... I bought a size 24 when I'm a 16 so they are lovely and comfy. It was about £10 for them.

I also got two nursing ones from m&p... But I prefer the buttoned ones from sainsburys (might change when baby gets here!).

It amazes me how many ladies have posted to say how people are commenting on their bump size in a negative way. I'm the same...why do people do it??! I'm starting to wonder if people know how big your supposed to get in pregnancy??! Besides being rude, there's a proportion of women who unfortunately may take it to heart and limit their food intake in pregnancy. It's a really mean and damaging!
If you don't have a neat bump your fat according to some people!

I'll stop kicking off now anyway!!

Baleb - I hope your still feeling ok after that !!!!!! doctor!!

Had a sudden pang of fear today about childbirth. I usually don't think about it but today I could have shed a tear for myself! How ridiculous is it that I'm thinking I don't want to start crying and looking like a sissy or worse poo myself in labour in front of my partner! The man who I've been with 12 years and who did this to me in the first place! It's silly since he's my best mate and favourite person on Earth! (as well as my mum but she's NOT coming!!) I hope I'm not going to keep getting pangs of fear as it gets closer!

I took all my baby bedding back today all because it had a stripe down the middle of the coverlet that I didn't like! Lied in Mothercare and said a relative had bought us something else as I was too embarassed to say 'I bought the whole set but based on the coverlet having a stripe down it I can't do with it' Officially lost it!
  • I keep getting people telling me that my bump looks really small considering I've only 7 weeks to go! Midwife says its coz I'm quite tall (5'11"), so that kinda makes sense as all the girls in my antenatal class have lovely bumps I'm jealous off, yet most of them are a good bit shorter than me and only come up to my shoulders! I've actually measured 1cm over every appointment, bump was 34cm today at 33 weeks tomorrow.

Wasn't meant to see midwife for another two weeks, but all of yesterday I had a really bad headache I couldn't shift and this morning I was getting flashing lights in my eyes, like when your dizzy, but wasn't getting dizzy if that makes sense. So midwife clinic is held every week just five minutes from home, so nipped down on the off chance she could give me a quick check over, thankfully blood pressure is normal and nothing showing untoward in urine sample. So that, with lack of swelling, makes her think its just to do with the weather - we've had it really humid, thundery, and rainy for almost a week now. So I'm just to take it easy and to try and rest more...if I do that though I'm in danger of becoming a big couch potato!

Oh and i do believe i might be nesting a little. Currently sat on a sofa with no cushions as I washed and hung out to dry the sofa throw, all sofa/armchair seat covers and all cushion covers. It's a lovely washing and drying day as my mum would say :)

I'm with your Mum I have to have washing on the line on a day like this, if there's none left in the basket I will find something! Love the sight of fresh sheets on the line :) And I know it must sound wired to many but I often think of how women such as my grandmother would have had to hang out the washing after handwashing it all, including toweling nappies. My grandmothers both had 7 children and DH's grandmother gave birth to 13! Thank goodness for washing machines and the pill lol. Still tho my workload is less than theirs I feel a connection when I hang out the washing.
I am also on nesting mode now and did four loads of washing today including tons of teeny tiny baby boy clothes. All nicely folded now and just need to sort it into sizes so I can write a list of what I need to buy. Looks like I have too many vests but need to buy sleepsuits.

This was my strategy last time and like you I'm reluctant to spend money on luxurious ones that may get ruined. Didn't find any suitable in Primark las time tho, bought some in Peacocks but that has closed down now and they have gradually shrunk so too short for a big belly. Also I am finding walking round shops hard now due to low blood pressure- feel nausea/ dizziness and just need to sit down so rather than going into town I'd rather look in somewhere like Matalan or Sainsburys preferably if someone has seen some there or if there's something else to buy there.

I agree some people really do just think they can say what they like to you and about your appearance just because your pregnant.

I have had someone say 'are you sure theres not two in there'. Obviously what they didn't realise is that this pregnancy did start as twins one of which I lost at 12 weeks. But why cant people just keep their mouths shut then they have no chance of upsetting or hurting people!

Ok rant over here as well :rotfl:

  • Hi Bangton

Would it help if I told you that by the time you get to term you will be so uncomfortable that you will be willing on your labour and probably won't care what you have to go through to be able to flip over in bed without feeling that you need a winch?

All the women who had babies told me that when I was feeling worried, and now I'm overdue I can totally confirm that it's true.

HST like one of the earlier posters on this thread I am still hoping that it's going to magically arrive by stork - or slip out like a wet pig as Suzanne Moore memorably put it... http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2013/jul/24/smoke-spliffs-childbirth-duchess-cambridge

I've been posting every now and then anyway, but thought I'd formally say I am officially 24 weeks today! This pregnancy is not going as swimmingly as my first. So far I have had sciatica (or SPD) the symptoms are quite similar, but luckily it seems to have almost disappeared, really bad hayfever, thrush and also had psorasis, but can't really attribute that to pregnancy.

I think it is harder this time round as well because I have a 16 mth old LG who demands my attention. She's a gem really and I can't complain as I wouldn't change her for the world, but when all you want to do is sit down and rest and she's demanding you read to her or having to chase her around it's tiring!!

Bit of background she was planned and I managed to do everything I wanted to- breastfed until almost 14 mths, cloth bummed from about 1 or 2 mths old. This pregnancy was an accident- very much wanted, but not planned. I found out April Fool's Day!! I hope to do the same- breastfeeding and cloth bumming, but not sure I can make it to 14 mths. Money is tighter this time round unless DH gets good bonuses so fingers crossed!

I'm not sure if I can do 14 mths again, but like I said last time 1 day at a time. I just kept saying 1 more day and then I'll stop that turned into 14 mths so we'll see.
    Got married 13/11/10 :)
