toothfairy I didn't have any side effects apart from a bit of a dull ache in my arm. I asked her to do it in the side I don't sleep on.

It had gone in a day or so. x

    Hi all,

Am also suffering from rock hard bump syndrome and think baby has moved from head down to lying painfully across. Not sure how I will get through another 7 weeks of work at this rate!

Found a really good deal on some reusable nappies on preloved, but I can't decide if second hand reusables is just going too far to be MSE... What do you guys think? Obviously they will have been washed hundreds of times but maybe I should be splashing out on new this once, especially as all being well we hope to have more than one bubba in the future!

I've bought loads of preloved nappies and almost all of them have been fine. There are some people who sell gross nappies- smelly/stained. I did buy one and it leaked like mad every time I used it not sure if it was my LO having a funny shape or it being a poorly made nappy.

If you can see them before you buy it would be better or ask for loads of photos of inside and out. If they are a bit whiffy easy to rectify by doing a strip wash with a little squeeze of washing up liquid in the washing machine and loads of rinses will help.

NoAngel your midwife sounds horrid! I wonder if she has children? I am currently sat on the sofa while DS dances and sings along to Mr Bloom "Meet a veggies, a Mis-dah Boom" My last baby was back to back. Tips are to sit on a straight backed chair not reclined on couch and spend as much time on hands and knees as you can manage. Didn't work for me tho, and got to be honest often by the end of the day I want nothing more than to lie back and give my bump room. Only way to get comfy when something is squashed up into your diaphragm :p
    Lovely bumps ladies ;)
Well DH and I are currently off work. He is likely to get throttled by the end of the week as he is failing to do his fair share of entertaining DS. Today he is hung over for the second time this week, totally incapable of anything. Tomorrow he is out on a fishing trip- is it mean that I hope it rains lol ;)
Saw midwife yesterday. Anti-D, bloods taken too and got Whooping cough jab tomorrow. She said I'm measuring a bit smaller than average (not so she'd be worried) 26cm at 29 weeks. Last pregnancy I was always spot on average so was 28cm at 28 weeks but baby was huge so although I don't think the fundal measurements are a particularly accurate guide I'm finding a smaller measurement reassuring.
GTT came back normal but had glucose in my waters again yesterday. Midwife wants to test again in two weeks and if she finds glucose again she'll recommend another GTT. So will have to remember to avoid chocolate the night before lol (very naughty Monday night with a big bar of Dairy Milk Oreo)
Also my blood pressure was very low 90 over something . Its usually 110-120 over 60-70. Have been feeling a bit rotten tbh. Just tired, feeling unwell and needing to sit down. Headache today too, so won't very surprised if blood test comes back saying i need iron.
DS is doing amazing with the potty, got quite a few friends on FB who we met at Surestart baby groups who are also potty training this week and finding it difficult as you'd expect. Feel so lucky my little boy just decided to use the potty on his own- was dreading trying to teach him. Rainy weather is making it easier too as not going out as much.
Got several boxes of baby clothes from friend last week. Most of it was originally my son's, so she didn't need to buy much, few outfits her little boy (now nearly one) got as gifts in there too but she chose to recycle our stuff instead of spending as she had a little girl too, only 18 months older. Anyway I sent everything organised by size, washed, folded, put into sets where appropriate- and its cone back literally just shoved into boxed. Screwed up, some obviously not washed and in no order whatsoever. So spent time yesterday separating into 0-6 months and 6-12 months. All 0-6 is sorted into bags for washing when the weather gets better. 6-12 is folded into boxes to be put away for now. A few bits binned as washed out or stained- don't mind this at all, just cross she made no effort to hand the rest back in some sort of order. Once its all washed I'll separate out into piles and add in the other bits Mum and I have picked up- mainly carboot sales- lots still with tags on, couple of bits from shops in sales ;)
In other news, SIL has had a miscarriage, days after she announced she was pregnant- gutted for her, she's been in horrible pain and very upset too. Got a bag of goodies for her but she says she's not up to visitors- might ask DH to pop down to just drop off gift. That way she doesn't have to make an effort to get dressed etc.
Anyway sorry for the lengthy post- good to get it all out ;)

fluffysox, i would be annoyed aswell, especially as you had gone to the effort if making sure they were all nice and clean and ready to wear for her!

DH and I would like to go away somewhere the weekend after i finish for mat leave (i will be 36 weeks). It will be our last weekend off together before baby arrives. DH works in a restaurant so our weekends together are few and far between. We live in the Edinburgh area, obviously don't want to go too far in case! Anyone have any suggestions of what we could do or where to go? Would like to have a nice special weekend close to home :)

Don't know how MSE they are, but both Peebles Hydro and Barony Castle are nice (though has been a good 5-8 years since I was at either!)
  • If my midwife ever says anything about my weight I've got my reply ready, lol. Well actually not just for her but anyone for that matter.

It's a touchy subject for me due to loosing 8 stone before I fell pregnant and keeping it off for a year before trying for a family. That was our whole plan, let my body adjust to not gaining/loosing weight constantly so is why I maintained my weight loss for a year.

I must admit I get on the scales every week as am scared of putting on too much, but then keep telling myself if i can loose 8 stone, then I can loose whatever I put on because I know it won't be anywhere near 8 stone anyway.

I was a size 26 when I had all my weight on and being 32+2 and wearing size 14/16 maternity wear I'm pretty happy with that. In the beginning of my pregnancy I'm sure majority of my weight went onto my chest, they went massive really early on and became soooo sore and heavy.

Going to pick up a second hand moses basket and stand later on tonight. Going to get a new mattress for it though, will make me feel better knowing it has a brand new mattress.

Didn't want to get a brand new one as my friend who I caught up with yesterday has just had to move her 7 week old little girl out of her moses basket as she likes to kick out her arms and legs.

Hopefully off to the seaside for the day tomorrow, hubby gets every Thursday and Sunday off so thought as the forecast looks good for tomorrow we'll do something different.

No angel, your weight gain is perfectly within the normal range so ignore her. How rude! If you are concerned about the baby being back to back, spending time on all fours is meant to be good.

Thanks to all those who replied about the reusables, have been sent some pics and they look good so when we meet tomorrow I'll double check them and take the plunge!

Tia is probably a silly question but when washing baby's things it's ok to use non bio powder isn't it? I think I read something about no fabric conditioner but I might have made that part up! Going to try to stagger my loads so I'm not drowning under it on mat leave!

Wanted to comment on the many posts - but can't remember much except unnecessary midwife comments! You are pg, it's highly likely there will be a weight gain. Surely it would have been better to ask how active you are - which seems to be a lot more active than many!

Sorry to hear about your SIL Fluffy.

Tooth - is Durham too far? It's a nice place to visit IMO.

28 week growth scan today (due to high BMI pre pg). All was well. My parents came as OH didn't know if he would make it in time - but he did. Only one person allowed in until end so OH was in & Mum just came in for two mins at the end. Dad was delayed trying to find a parking space & arrived just as we came out. I was really disappointed for him. Whilst we were chatting & waiting for my notes so we could go & see doctor the sonographer came out to say one of the results needed redoing. I had to go back in - so Dad got to see it too & Mum came back in (& surprisingly didn't get evicted - I did tell them both not to speak so the sonographer didn't have cause to kick them out!). Both were teary.

Placenta still blocking cervix - back in 3 weeks for scan to monitor this.

My arm wasn't particularly sore but it did swell/go really red for a few days afterwards - totally normal I'm assured!

My arm was sore and itchy - bit like an insect bite. Seems to have subsided now, 2 days later
