I have a cotbed which can be lowered to 3 levels like Sittingonastar. My LG also stands and raises her arms so no need to bend down.
I think solid sides are sturdier and I know some children learn how to shake the bars and drop the sides themselves.Got married 13/11/10

Congrats Anderson and Sam!
Am I the only person that's been finished work for ages and not yet bored?! I've been off 7 and a bit weeks already (mix of sick leave/holiday/mat leave), and still have 7 weeks and 3 days til due date! Now that Wimbledon is out the way, I spend most of my days cleaning, sorting out house-y type stuff (making sure we're on the best deals for insurance etc), cooking, baking, catching up with friends and family.
If I'm having a tired/sore/CBA kinda day (like yesterday lol), I just chill out with the Ipad (have the Kindle app installed so read a lot, saves lugging books back from the library). Sometimes I'll stick on a DVD, but DH is a big film fan and we watch a lot at weekends so normally save the DVDs for then. My antenatal classes started last week, so I have that for 2 hours once a week and starting aquanatal next week too. I'm also doing some volunteer work for a local charity, managing their social media (basically, I sit and post on their Facebook page 2-3 times a day!). Since becoming pregnant, everything (especially around the house) just seems to take me longer, so I find I'm never stuck for things to do.
Today I'm up early as took DH to work for 5am, have applied for a couple of jobs (due to circumstances, will prob be going back to work part time pretty quick after bump arrives), car is going to the garage first thing, then will walk home, do some housework, pick car up from garage after lunch, then off to visit a friend this afternoon. Will need to stop for some shopping on the way home, put the dinner on, collect DH from work at 7pm, then after dinner we'll walk the dog and tidy up the kitchen - and that'll take us til about 9pm when it's time for bed!0 -
Thanks for the advice on cars! Definitely puts my mind at ease. I normally have no problem blocking out my in-laws opinion, but this one stressed me out a bit. I love our little 3 door Yaris anyway
Currently counting down the days until I start my maternity leave (about 7 weeks). But I have a couple of weeks leave to take before then so planning on finishing sooner. Can't wait!0 -
Every hospital is so bloody differnernt in mine OH can only come during 2*2hr visiting hours in the post natal ward.
Absoulty dreading having to have a C-section (I have a low plancenta but thiers only a 1/10 chance I would need the CS) so fingers crossed I dont have to ...find out on 12th august my next scan not sure how i'd cope having to stay in hospital with a newborn on my own for 20hrs a day
Saying that he got to stay with me the whole time as we stayed in the actal birthing room untill the doctor came to inspect baby so we could go...I would of been in and out of hospital in 4 hours if we didnt have to wait lol but if you go before they come you only have to come back later so their was no point going home...guess they wasn't busyPeople don't know what they want until you show them.0 -

Have to admit its soooo much easier having a 5 door, we wouldn't go back now, but saying that we had a 3 door for first 8-9months of babys life. I think if you had a 5 door and brought a 3 door it would drive us mad but since you don't know any differnert you just get on with it and probally won't even notice it.
You may just find yourself climbing on the backseat alot to strap the baby in etc but I actally sat in the back for first month or so anyway ....just cause I wanted to.People don't know what they want until you show them.0 -

Thanks! Our next car will definitely be a 5 door when we can afford one, but as you say, I won't know any different for a few months anyway. And I am sure the baby won't know any difference!0 -
Oscar: you are doing the right thing. Are there any pet sitters near you? Your vet might have some posters on display so it might be worth giving them a ring. I was induced as my little one was 12 days overdue. My OH stayed with me the entire time and was sent home a couple hours after my son was born. This was in the early hours btw. You don't know how your labour will progress so it's better to think outside of the box so to speak which is what you are doing. As it happens I didn't have the pessary - they put me onto the drip straight away but my moggies needed to be looked after whilst we were in hospital. My OHs parents looked after my moggies. Just as well really as I was in for five days (complications - nothing to do with being induced) and my OH only began his paternity leave when my son and I were discharged. There was no way that he could properly take care of the cats whilst working and visiting us both in the hospital.
If you don't have any family nearby. I would investigate pet sitters or to put them in a kennel for a few days.0 -
We invested in an MPV last year (Ford S-MAX) and it is the best thing we have done! Loads of room inside and because it sits quite high off the road, it's not the struggle we used to have with our Golf to get DS in and out of his car seat.
OH fitted our second ISOFIX on Sunday ready for baby's car seatSo we have 2 little seats in the back now..made me feel all fuzzy!
LAST DAY AT WORK!!!!!
Thank the lord. Dragging myself up at 6am has been getting progressively harder, particularly now I am not sleeping well.
Just had to walk back to the car park as well as I'd left the key to my laptop locker in the car (durrrr!), and honestly I am aching nowI feel a bit sick and my bump is aching...I hope I don't go into labour on my last day!

My placenta was low laying as well and spent the majority of my pregnancy fretting about the possibility of having a c section. I was told in my 38 scan that it had moved enough (yay!) but I ended up having an emergency one anyway! The operation wasn't that bad. It's quick, pain free (I didn't feel the jab) and your chuff will remain intact lol. I recovered quickly and my scar looks like a line of a pink felt tip pen.
Now, it does hurt afterwards and you do need to be careful. It's also very strange feeling every tug whilst you are on the operating table - you won't forget that in a hurry. But, honestly, I really don't know why I spent so much time worrying about it.0
