Hello again. My due date is the 27th Oct, so it is all starting to become real
Currently I am a bit stressed about our car that we will definitely have to have for the first 3/4 months at least. We only have a 3 door Yaris and hope to be able to buy a 5 door soon-ish, but everyone (well mainly in-laws) keeps telling me how awful it is to get a car seat in/ out with a 3 door. Is it really that bad? We don't actually have an option at the moment anyway so it's a bit of a moot point but it has got me a bit panicked!
As we should be moving house when I should be 34 weeks-ish I am trying to get super organised. I think nesting is starting to kick in but I have nowhere to nest at the moment!
I have a ford ka and its a 3 door, we don't use my car if oh is coming because he's too tall lol but just for me and lo to run about in is ok. Obviously 5 doors are easier but it hasn't bothered me only having 3 doorsNewly Married, not a 2b anymore!! Mum to two wonderful boys!0 -
congratulations Anderson!
NoAngel that's an awful thing for someone to say! I think people love being insensitive around pregnant women and don't realise that they're saying that you're parenting skills will be awful. Especially choice phrases like 'you're in for a shock' etc.
Changing tables sound neat and very organised but I'm gonna see how I go with just a chest of drawers for now. Some goes for baby baths, I'll try a wash basin first. I know I can change my mind and get more stuff if I need to - if it suits me and my baby I'm gonna get it and I'm allowed to make mistakes and spend stuff on things I might not need so much.
Hurrah another fairly cool day. Thursday is going to be a hot one tho. I'm excitedly waiting for my boots bargains30+3

Yes, but this is somewhat unpredictable while the dogs (while very adaptable) do need some semblance of a routine, which is better given by someone else since it doesn't look as though my expectations of labour and birth will happen now (I'd thought since everything else has been textbook about this pregnancy that I'd be in for a spontaneous labour of 12 hours or so, but from what I'm reading of induction it's a much more stop-start and time consuming process).
In the meantime I'm eating pineapple, spicy food and luring DH into the bedroom as much as humanly possible... Come on little baby - this is torture!!

I have a changing table which attaches to the top of the cot and found this really helpful the first few weeks after birth, especially after having a section with DS1.
TBH I tried bathing DS1 with me when he was a baby and found it near impossible. Wet babies are really slippy! Maybe I was doing something wrong but I found trying to wash myself and my hair whilst stopping baby from slipping into the water hard work. I did use a baby bath for the first few weeks but then bought a sponge bath support which I found really good for stopping them slipping about, and then really handy once they start sitting up for the same reason.
Went to midwife today for my ferritin levels checked as my iron was quite low, she measured baby and apparently he/she is measuring quite small which was a bit of a surprise as with my other two I've always measured on the larger side. Have to go back next week and depending on measurements may have to have a growth scan. TBH I'm not overly worried as I have felt lots of movement, and nearly all of my side of the family including me are short !!!!!!! My other two just seem to have taken after my OH who is quite tall.0 -

If you have no friends or family to help out are there any local doggy sitters/kennels you can send them to?
I sympathise, going overdue is really stressful!0 -
I feel like I have really 'expanded' over the last week & my centre of gravity has moved! I have to remember to take my belly with me when I turn in bed. What's in store for the next 12 weeks????
Ordered various nursery stuff yesterday whilst the M&P sale was on. I've gone with the Jamboree range. Although it was the sale I have since googled & buying it from other places I could get it for the same price. Might do that anyway on a couple of things as they are out of stock & won't be delivered until early October!
Can't get the curtains though as they are not big enough. I've had a google & it seems the fabric can't be bought separately. Will need to decide what to do at the windows.
Picked up a Family Fix base at the weekend for £70 second hand. It looks brand new - their baby was only 9 months so it is fairly new.
Good news that my brother has paid for the car seat & 2 bases (managed to get all 3 for £160 :money:).
Bought a couple of the Mothercare boucers last night. One for me & one for grandparents house. I have been offered 2 swings too from friends - there won't be room to move!
Slight problem with the Buzz carrycot from last week. It arrived quickly & is brand new however it uses different adaptors to the car seat so to switch, I would have to change adaptors. I have e mailed Quinny to see if there is a solution. In the meantime I have ordered a carrycot from Boots with the discount codes for £95. I will return it if I sort the first one. If I don't, I should be able to recoup the £33 I paid for the first via e bay.
Just a tip (or maybe telling you something you know) on the Cabriofix car seat. They all come with a hood. There is a release button on the back near the top & the hood comes out from there. Sorry if you know - but it took me a while to find (only looked as I read somewhere that they all had one). There's also a 'storage' compartment on the back where the instructions were on mine.
Got a growth scan on Wednesday. OH not sure if he will make it in time so my parents are coming. If he makes it, I will become one of those people I frown on in the hospital for bringing a tribe with them!

We have a three door, we had it since DS (22 months) was born and had no problem putting the seat in and out.
We cant afford to have a new car so will still have this one and have to put a toddler and newborn into the back.
Obviously a 5 door would be easier, but I really dont see it being a major worry. We managed with one so im sure we'll manage with two!Biggest Loser Weight Loss: 13 / 20 lb0 -
TTC40, i feel exactly the same re having to remember my belly when i shift in bed, its gotten really heavy. Find i am also having to kind of prop a pillow under it to get comfy lol pregnancy is so attractive!
Not sure if there are any scotland-dwellers on the thread but i went to one of the Jack and Jill markets yesterday (http://www.jackandjillmarket.co.uk). They hold them all over Scotland, i went to the Livingston one and it was great! Got a mamas and papas moses basket with stand for £20. Absolutely spotless! Obviously it will need a new mattress but still a total bargain. There were loads of clothes mostly, and some bigger things such as buggies, cribs, bouncers etc.
