I know, right? I considered myself a relatively young mum with this one still to come :rotfl:
Bit stressed coming out of the hospital. Last week they told me they wanted to scan me in a fortnight (ie. 36 weeks) and today I've been told they've booked me in for a scan at 38 weeks but she doesn't really know why as chances are they won't induce me anyway because that'd increase the chances of needing a section....last week I was told I probably wouldn't see 38 weeks due to the baby size, why can they not just be consistent?
My hospital bag is packed - I'm sure I've probably forgotten something but god knows what it is. As for breast pumps, I plan to buy an electric if I get on okay BFing, I don't want to buy one if I can't BF though so I guess that'll be a post-baby purchase.
Probably tmi - but is anyone finding that panty liners just aren't cutting it? I change it every time I go to the loo (which is a lot at the moment!) but they're practically soaking through anyway - maybe best up to a sanitary towel?

Re breast pumps I had a manual last time and it was so time comsuming and annoying...only heard good things about eletric pumps and managed to get one 2nd hand for £30 (obvouisly not got chance to try it yet tho lol). If you can afford it I think its a worth while purchase but same time you would manage with a manual or even without!People don't know what they want until you show them.0

My hospital bag I'd say is about 90% packed. My mum bless her, raided Boots for me and gave me a massive bag of the unglamourous stuff this weekend - breast pads, maternity pads, newborn nappies, muslins etc so I was able to get most stuff together.
Just need to get OH to sort out what he thinks he'll need, and dig out my maternity swimming costume in case I decide on a dip in the paddling pool during labour!
claree I'm not using liners, but instead just seem to be changing my knickers about 3-4 times a day!
Really struggling at work today. Achy, tired and disinterested in everything going on around me. I could literally just lie down on the floor and go to sleep.
Btw is/has anyone started on the raspberry leaf tea yet? I took the capsules last time as got a bit fed up of the tea..not convinced they helped much, but going to give it another go this time and am currently on my first cup..I remember why I went off it pretty quickly!Metranil dreams of becoming a neon,You don't even take him seriously,How am I going to get to heaven?,When I'm just balanced so precariously..0 -
Re. Breast pumps. The electric ones can be a bit pricey so I would probably say if youve never done it before give expressing a go and see how you go on with a manual pump (I think my tommee tippee one was about a tenner from tkmaxx).
If it suits and you think you will be breastfeeding/ expressing for the longer term I would then definitely invest in a good electric pump!0 -
Thanks amus, that's prob what i'll do0

Thanks amus, will have a look in there.
Mv - im having a horrible day at work 2, not horrible for any reason other than i'm far to tired to be here!! When do u usually start raspberry leaf tea? I did buy it last time, didnt have much though but ended up with a c-section anyway so no idea of it worked! May buy some this time though, worth a try.Still here..... but working on that!0 -
Claree I'm using liners and needing 2-3 a day and a fresh change of knickers at least (more in this weather).
I've bought a cheap breast feeding starter kit which came with bottles, feeding pots and pads and a manual pump from Home Bargains when they were on offer. For the price I figured that I would use everything else at some point anyway.
8 days left in work for me. I'm just about done in now so i'm taking a half day flexi on Thursday and I figure next week will fly by anyway. I'm so tired today that i've had about 3 power naps at my desk. OH getting in from the pub at 12pm and promptly snoring along with sore ribs and being boiling didn't help. Just as I was dropping off the thunder woke me then OH got up at 5.40 to finish an assignment he needs to hand into college on Wednesday. Zzzzzzzzz
I haven't packed my bag yet. Oops! I have written a list though and I think I've got everything I want to take so it shouldn't take too long when I get around to it. I've heard that labouring at home takes a good few hours anyway0 -
So after the hospital measuring me 3 weeks behind the growth scan showed the baby to be perfectly average. Smack bang on the 50th percentile. TBF ive not even gained a stone yet so I was never going to have a big baby (although if Kates was over 8.5 lbs then eek)
5 shifts left. Last shift is an 8 oclock finish on the 2nd, off for 4 weeks to use up my leave then maternity starts on 1st September. Back to college on 22nd August though.
I think ill sort my hospital bag next week. Skint until payday.

Hi everybody! Back from a lovely week in Cornwall with lots of swimming, cycling and walking helping with my v.veins! Had a nightmare day at work, my boss has realised how much work I have left to do in the next 8 weeks and has left me with a horrible project and unrealistic expectations to finish the others I'd normally have another 2 months to do... Feeling very stressed suddenly and wishing I was already on mat leave!
Have my glucose tolerance test tomorrow, it doesn't say I have to miss breakfast, is that right? Just says fast for 1 hour before lucozade, then appointment 1 hour later. Don't want to have to do it twice!0
