notanewuser - That's interesting about the baby led weaning. At our post natal group that the HV ran after birth, we had a whole session on baby led weaning - she was fully supportive of it. She very much poo pooed spoon feeding.

Mine had to toe the party (health board's) line. I don't know if its changed in the last couple of years, but I BLWed DD anyway and was very open about it. She never said she didn't think it was a good idea, just that she wasn't allowed to endorse it. ;)

Me to benicetomyself! It's still warm here but nowhere near as hot as it has been all week.

Any opinions on crib vs moses baskets? I was going to go for a crib as hopefully it will last DS longer but not sure.

Hey everyone, hope you are all ok?

Glad your out of hospital claree, Ive been going through the exact same thing as you except have managed to avoid hospital but having to go to unit every other day instead to be checked out. The itching I have is awful, if I could cut off my skin I honestly would. Still not to much longer for me, two weeks at the absolute latest!!

Cooler here today thank goodness, :T hoping some of my swelling will go down, as long as it doesn't heat up too much later.

Not long till induction day girlzmum!! Its come round really quickly, how excited are your girls? I had that when I went out shopping with DH the other day, I was so ready to have a major hissy fit, he decided it was time to go home! Ha ha!!

Re breastfeeding, I fed DD for about 3 months then mix fed till she slept through the night (didn't want to faff with bottles in the night, lazy!!) but managed 14 months just bf with DS, I was very lucky both mine took to it straight away with very little effort on my part, will try again this time but if it doesn't work it doesn't work. Just have to do whats best for yourselves and your family in my opinion! Also did baby led weaning - so so much easier!!

Are you still holding in there PP? Not gone for an early eviction yet?!

Toothfairy, no names here yet, DH suggests and I dislike tis the way it goes. Still haven't thought of any I do like but as Ive said before I didn't like DD or DSs names to start with :rotfl:. Im just awkward :D

Still not got my phone sorted so not able to post very often, trying to just catch up when i can though!

  • my brother bought me a moses basket as he and SIL found it very useful. you can keep baby with you wherever you go in the house. I think you have to be careful carrying bubba in basket by straps in case the straps snap especially on the stairs.

I got a crib for DS that lasted till nearly six months (was getting a bit big for it) had a moses basket for DD, she used it one night! she despised it as she wanted to spread out! I think it just depends what will suit you best and if you plan to use it downstairs so need maneuverability We used pram carrycot downstairs

Just on the breast feeding I was complety annoyed at the Midwife in the hosptial she just kind of said lets try feeding him now and moved the baby and pratically took my boob out and put it in his mouth....

I was quite happy the baby started feeding but it was just the way she did it :|

I had trouble on my own after that but for any new mums its really hard to explain but you have to kind of tip your nipple upwards and I found it really helped to express the tinyist bit of milk out so the baby got the taste/smell not sure exactly but it worked lol.

Basicly spent 2 days (midwife comes on 2nd day) failing miserablly but after she showed me how to do it properlly it was fine.

Only managed 6 weeks total tho as he basicly spent most his waking hours on my boob it was a nightmare...Id be sitting thier 5hours later and he'd still be wanting more. The plan was to half bottle feed half express but after he had the first bottle which he downed within about a minite (couldn't belive how fast he drank it lol) he was SOOO happy. He was a complety differnert baby for once he was actally content for first time since I brought him home and he had a play on his mat I still remember it lol. After that I used to breast feed at night only because it was easier then getting a bottle & he slept really well probally about 3-4hours sleeping at a time at night and then straight back to sleep so it worked.
People don't know what they want until you show them.

When do mw usually talk to you about bf? Had my 25 weeks appointment last week and no mention at all about it yet - is it usually closer to due date or does it depend on your area/mw?
