But if you can breastfeed, then it is the best for your baby. If you can't, or choose not to, then of course you're not damaging your baby, but you are lining the pockets of companies that will capitalise on that.Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0 -
I do agree that breastfeeding is best but I refuse to be looked down upon if it doesn't work out for me. Same goes for a natural birth. As long as baby is loved and has happy parents and has basic needs met then that is fine.
I spoke to a mum recently and she said the trick is not to be the best but 'good enough' which I think is right. No need to have a breakdown just cos you are not the best parent out there. You will be the best mum that your baby will have.0 -
I don't even discuss the arrivals of mine with anyone.. it is none of their business. I am a bottlefeeder, didn't BF with either of my last 2 and won't be doing it with this one either. My MW and I have an understanding - I understand that she has to promote BFing and I listen politely when she has to tell me the relevant stuff, but on the flip side of that she understands that it is MY choice how I want to feed baby and so long as it is an informed choice she is happy with that.
When I was expecting DS, I had a stand in MW for my 36 week check as my usual MW was on holiday - she was horrified that I wasn't even going to attempt BFing and tried to say that it was my duty as a good mother to try.... she didn't know what had hit her when I retaliated - patronising witch. Afterwards she said they'd been on a training course and had been told that they wanted 100% of women to try BFing and my regular MW had said at the course that she had a lady (me) who was an intelligent grown woman who had made her decision already not to BF and she thought it was wrong to try to pressurise me to meet health board targets.
I have nothing against those who wish to BF at all, but it just isn't for me.
Any hoo back to the here and now, it's a bit cooler today so I'm looking forward to a decent night's sleep tonight. Had a real urge to clean kitchen cupboards today but the novelty wore off after 2 :rotfl: Hope everyone's well - is Claree out of hospital?Mortgage Aug 22 £280,000

Yes, Kandfs mam!
Sorry I didn't get to update yesterday, was all a bit hectic.
I woke up with a headache and slightly spotted vision so I didn't think they'd have let me out but they put that down to a rubbish sleep as my BP was slightly high in the morning and then settled down again quite quickly. Apparently it never reached a worrying level and nor did the protein in my urine so they just want to keep an eye on me as an outpatient so I've to report to daycare on Tuesday morning.
Went into work afterwards to sort out my desk and stuff and got some lovely gifts from colleagues so I'm now officially on mat. leave!Bit scary but probably for the best as all signs point to this tiny human not staying put 'till due date.
Thanks for all your lovely well wishes though, I feel bad now that I had you worrying :rotfl:My Debt Free Diary

Afternoon all, it's a bit heavy in here this afternoon.
Any who, I'm willing to give bf a shot and see how I get on, but if it doesn't work out then I'm not going to beat myself up over it.im gonna give it all I've got first though. Happy mum, happy baby!
Stinking headache yesterday and through the night last night, it actually woke me up during the night feeling like I was being stabbed by several knives. Thank goodness it's better today.
Cooler today? We must be getting it further north, I'm melting here. BBQ tonight, just me and hubby :-) looking forward to it.
Saw the most heartbreaking picture of a sunburnt baby earlier, things like that make me sad
That's enough blethering from me I think. Enjoy your evenings ladies. Clare glad to hear all is ok an ur home safe

I've told the midwives I successfully breastfed my other two and that I plan on doing the same with this one and they still bang on about it every time I go so god help the women who say they're not going to!
When HV came round with DS2 and saw I was doing well with BF she said I should come to the breast feeding support groups to speak to women who were struggling. Somehow I don't think women struggling would be best pleased with me going and telling them how well I was doing. I was simply lucky in that my baby latched on well and I produced a lot of milk, it was nothing in particular I did!
Sorted all the baby stuff out into piles ready for washing so that's my task over the next couple of days! Feels like I have so much to do to get ready before baby comes so had better make a start.0 -

Not really! We already have a boys name, when DS2 was born it was a toss up between two names so we've stuck with the one from then, didn't really discuss it just agreed we still liked it and that was that!
I have a girls name that I like but haven't really discussed it much with OH, TBH he's very easy going so will probably go along with whatever name I choose anyway!0
