I'd say 'I'm sorry but if you can't do as I ask he won't be able to stay with you. he is suffering with a sure bottom and upset tummy and you are doing this to him!'

Apple juice might be better though both apple and orange are acidic and irritate little tums and kidneys/bladders. Though apple juice is quite high in sugars. The only thing my 2 can drink is Tesco cherries and berries squash.. I'm not happy about the aspartame in it but if it is that or nothing we can't do nothing! They have it so weak it is barely pink!

I wish I could but for next 4 weeks I have to work so I can't just say you can't look after him anymore...

Tbh I would rather she didn't tbh as her partner is ...well without going into a full fledge story an !!!.

MIL offered to look after for a day and my Mum got wind and insisted she had him as well and I didn't know how to say its ok for MIL but not for you...

I think I will have to next time around though if she offers as if I had another means of childcare now I would just use that but sake 4 weeks(4 days of childcare) Ill have to put up with it and just hope I can get someone really good next time around..

Will be having stern words with her about this OJ though.

You say because MIL does as you asks and your mum causes him pain and distress by insisting on giving him drinks/food you as his mum have asked she doesn't.. Just say MIL will have hi the extra days if she refuses to look after him properly.. see if that works.

If you had come to the one I worked at you would have been made to feel most welcome.. but then I was booted because I told a mum who had been struggling for months to continue bf-ing to do what she felt was best for her and her baby because that is what is important!

(neither Surestarts nor NCT like this response :p .. but I''m not one for blindly complying in case you've not noticed)

Aren't they known as the breastapo?

    Lol to "breastapo"!
When I had DS I was distraught with attempts to BF. Had a healthcare assistant or midwife with me every time. Took ages and he wasn't getting enough to fill his tummy, so they were giving home top up feeds with a cup. After 4 days of this I decided to bottle feed. Although I expected them to disapprove they actually seemed relieved and agreed I was making the best decision for us. Seems they are not allowed to encourage you to make your on decisions.

My midwife tells me they are pro women and not to feel pushed into doing what I don't want but in the next breath that I really should breastfeed and a list of reasons why.

It does irk me a bit as there is a chance I won't be able to breastfeed successfully as many women don't. Never, ever have I been told anything about bottle feeding.

The best experience I had was at my 25 week appointment when an older midwife was covering for my normal one and I point blank said I wasn't breastfeeding as I'm not comfortable feeding in public. She simply said 'that's why our Muslim mum's express, but if you don't want to DON'T...it's better for baby to have a happy mum than a mum doing something she feels pushed into.' Then she told me I'd be asked constantly until the end but not to let me feel pressured ever.

Wish she was my usual midwife!

    This makes me very :(.

The number of women who can't breastfeed is tiny (less than 1%). I know women who couldn't (literally no milk) and babies who couldn't (tongue-tie). It is hard work, it does hurt, and society is royally fc.uked if women are made to feel uncomfortable feeding in public when it's what boobs are for!

I don't think mothers should be vilified for choosing to formula feed, but I also don't think health professionals/antenatal groups etc should be slagg3d off for promoting breastfeeding.

I've fed mine in public all over the place.. beaches, cafes, middle of the street sat on a bench, walking around Tesco shopping, on buses etc.. and the one single time anyone said anything was in a church of all places.. DD1's baptism some busybody tried ushering us to the crèche.. I asked which formula Jesus had ;)

I think there are very very few people who comment negatively now. I have had loads of positive comments though.

I don't think anyone gets annoyed with midwives etc for promoting breastfeeding though, it's when they force it on people and basically make out your not doing the best for your baby if you choose not to.
