  • Bank - Royal Bank of Scotland

Claimed on 2 accounts closed over 5 years ago, didn't want to go down the court route as I live in Scotland and can only claim 5 years, thought I would just chance my luck.

    Sent LBA on 26th April.

Reply on 1st May - we are considering your claim etc etc.

Forgot about claim due to exams etc and really didnt think I stood a chance with claim being 2001-2002, but phoned on 6th week and asked for progress of claim and was told that I was near 'top' of list and if I waited to the 8 weeks were up I would receive an offer. Now into 9th week and phoned yesterday and was told that offer had been sent out on the 18th June and I would recieve within 10 days.

Received offer this morning of 1515.00 and 507.85, called them and said I would accept, they said cheque would be sent out 10/14 days (maybe sooner)after letters received back.

    Definitely worth the wait

  • Bank: CO-OP
    Amount claimed: £1,706:11
    Amount paid: £1,911:60

Started the process on April 1st 2007 and received last 6 years bank charges information within 6 weeks. Used template letter to request refund for £1,706:11 (without interest) and recieved a letter stating that they were looking into it and would get back to me within 4 weeks. Sent a further template letter stating that I would take court action unless they re-paid and got a letter in return along similar lines to the first. Incredibly as I sat at my computer to fill in the on-line small claim pages, the postman arrived with a letter from the CO-OP. It said that as a gesture of goodwill that they were agreeing to a full refund plus interest, adding that the amount of £,1911:60 would be credited to my account over the next few days.

Thanks Martin, couldn`t have done it without you:money:

 Hi all.......just wanted to say a HUGE thank you to Martin for his extremely usefull, helpfull and well put together web-site, and ALL of his team, esp Edinbugh lass who has been an AMAZING help for me with the process :T :T :T :T !!

Started my process end of Feb 2007, went through all the processes and template letters, as well as keeping myself up to scratch watching this site and taking other peoples situations into context and finding some pointers here and there:j ;) !!

Bank : Bank of Scotland, in Scotland
    Amount claiming: £746.50
    Settled : £600

Recieved letter this morn, after waiting 5 weeks for case re-evaluation with goodwill offer of £356, called them and said I wasnt happy with it and wanted to send me TOTAL BREAKDOWN of thier costs to validate their charges......they asked what would be my minimum.......thought of going the whole lot, but without being too greedy was happy to recieve amount (less some odds) outwith the interest, so was happy with the above settled amount:j and they said ok, will be in bank in 14 days (( fingers crossed it is )) soooooo SUCCESS  :T so HANG IN THERE, many have and won...you can too !!!!!!

Loads a love n hugs to all on this site, GOOD LUCK !!!!!

  • Hi just a quick note to say a big thank you !!!!! to Martin and all you guys and girls out there for your help and information. I went through the process of trying to reclaim my charges from Abbey. Having followed the guidance and written to them using the letter templates on site and then subsequently taking Abbey to online court, I have been awaiting my court date in July. When this very morning much to my delight I recieved a letter 'without prejudice' from the Abbey settling my claim in full £4186.50. I am now just waiting for the cheque.

For all of you going through the process yourselves, take heart. Power to the consumer !!!!!!

    All the best Rod:T

I applied for £3000 bank charges, I received a letter offering a settlement of £2365 which I accepted.
The whole process took a total of about 3 months and well worth the wait.
