I made an initial claim of £980 including interest. I was subsequently offered £330 which I declined. Decided to take action via Moneyclaim online. After 19days, MBNA entered a defence.

However, the defence I received today states they have sent me a goodwill payment of £1063.21 on 7.6.2007. That is the total I claimed.

Therefore I have WON!!!!! Thanks to everyone on this site.

If only my dealings with my Abbey bank account were as easy (taken 4 months so far and still dragging on).

Good luck to everyone trying to get their cash back from these theiving organisations.

    Bank: Lloyds
    Amount Reclaimed: £3700
Amount they paid: £2984 (so far)
    The story:

I was doing this for my son. he first opened another account. I then asked for statements back to bank account opening. They supplied back to 1996. I created the Statement of charges and wrote the "give me back my money letter" from CAG. I gave them 14 days or Court action. No reply. I initiated action at MCOL who reffered it on to my local Court. I have claimed back to 1996. A letter has come saying the £2984 will be in bank in three days. Case in Court before then.... He will go to Court for the extra money as well!!!! It wasn't easy 9probably 'cos going back so long..) but we've won!!!!! I have hated his bank for a decade and always felt the charges were usary. Got 'em back though, didn't I!!!!!

  • ABBEY NATIONAL!!!

Wrote my first letter of claim to them 20th Feb 07. Got a reply, busy at the moment etc, will have to wait upto 4 weeks then 8weeks! Then the letter we are rejecting your claim because they have done no wrong.

10th May lodged a claim on MCOL £2,787 plus intrest £732.47 TOTAL 3519.47

They acknowledged and have submitted a standard looking 3 page defence.

However they have wrote and offered 65% £2,365.66

    Their telephone numbers 0207 756 4306 and 0207 756 4398 are on voicemail.

I thought their offer was low but didnt want to copy dozens of bits of paper etc for next stage.

I rang the main switchboard 0870 607 6000 and had a winge, they listened and were really helpful. Got thru to discuss it with Inga who asked what sum I was after. Looking at it I wanted 100% but was happy to start negotiation at half way between the two. I have received an email confirming offer at £3,000.
THIS IS EXCELLENT AS ITS ALL MY CHARGES PLUS COURT COST. I'M REALLY HAPPY:j :j :j :j :j

The morale is dont accept their 1st offer.

Now I'm looking at a Nat West claim who were my bank prior to the Abbey - but more than 6 years ago! See some people are having success here to.

    Bank: Lloyds
    Amount Reclaimed: £1345.00
    Amount they paid: £1345.00
The story: After initial contact with the bank they offered and paid £750. into my bank. So I took them to court for the rest and they have just payed the remainder + £80. costs. They acknowledged the claim on the 14th day after the claim being issued, so I thought they were going to fight it, but they have now settled. Once I get the money out of that account I will cancel the court preceedings. ThankYou Martin and your team.
  • Having started the process with Nationwide as follows:

Initially received 2 letters from Nationwide explaining there was no claim to answer:
03/05/07 Made Application on Moneyclaim online
    11/05/07 Claim acknowledged by Nationwide
06/06/07 Issued Judgement, for £3980.50, plus fee £120, £4100.50 plus interest. By coincidence, later that day

    06/06/07 £4843.00 credited to account :j

I am delighted as I had been concerned about the process becoming a 'lottery' and had noted Martin's new advice to go to Financial Ombudsman which would be too late in my case as I had also put claim for LloydsTSB who are defending case which has recently been transferred to local Court, will keep you posted on this one.

Don't give up, it is through the support of this forum that I had the courage to proceed and I feel that justice has been done! :T
