Bank: Barclays
Amount Claimed: £1500
Amount received: £1140
Did just as Martin suggested on web site - sent the letters all with copies of all statements with charges hi-lighted.
Ignored the standard "we will look into your letter within 8 weeks" letter and threatened court action.
I was offered £360 short of my £1500 claim!
I accepted £1140.00.
Thanks moneysavingexpert - that's my holiday spending money sorted!0 -
Bank - NATWEST
CLAIMED - £5489.99
SETTLED - £5489.99
Took about 3 months from start to finish and got the the stage where COBBETTS defended my money claim online submission.
Then out of the blue 7 days later, got the letter offering my full amount minus interest.
Please note, this was purely as a goodwill gesture and in no way an admission of liability! YEAH RIGHT NATWEST!!!!
Many thanks to all those who helped and to you MARTIN.
Stick at it, it can be done!0 -
Followed Martins instructions and claimed with interest about £800 from Halifax. Reached the 14 day to reply or court stage and was offered £399.50 which would be paid into my account. If I didn't accept had to ring them. Rang them and after a two minute call accepted £600 as a Goodwill Gesture. That was yesterday and it was in my account today. Thanks Martin.:j :j :j0

Bank:MBNA

firs letter sent asking for refunds all my charges from a closed credit card account 3 years ago, got respond and refunds only 350 by cheque, sent back the cheque and a letter regarding all my charges back, got a reply and they open a new account and refunds the 350 cheque which I have refused, so I went to FOS asking for some help and they very kindly took over my complaint and wrote to MBNA, after a few days I have received a new letter from MBNA telling me we will refunds all the charges into your new account, make a phone call to MBNA next day and they agreed to refunds whole amount by cheque.:T

Hello I am Craig from Leeds, I started the process around late February. I had to go through the legal system and was awaiting a court date, I randomly checked my bank balance today to reveal £746, the original amount claimed for without interest and court fees, still enough to cover my holiday! I am more than happy with this result and urge everyone to go for it. Am now expecting to be told to close my account and get the hell out of there life. Suits me!

Thanks to moneysaving expert - SUCCESS !!!
Bank : Halifax plc
Amount reclaimed : £1723
Amount they paid : £1282
I was fed up with Halifax charging me for failed direct debits 1 or 2 days before my wages were automatically paid into my account, and being charged for the privelege ( !!! ) of getting a letter to say they had not paid my DD's.
On checking my statements, I was astounded to see I had been charged £1723 in just less than 2 years.
1st letter to Halifax : 25 April 07 - claim denied.
2nd letter to Halifax : 14 May 07 - letter ignored.
3rd letter to Halifax : 30 May 07
threatened court action + interest - total - £1870.
08 Jun 07 - received letter from Halifax (dated 06 Jun) to say they will pay me
£1282 (75% of original claim).
I am overjoyed with this and would like to say a BIG thanks to Martin, whose invaluable advice and assistance with the template letters have helped me successfully reclaim this money.0 -
Halifax/Bank of Scotland
amount claimed £5900
amount paid £3100
After 2 letters following Martins plan, I was made an offer of £1600, only when I threatened court action. I phoned them to reject this offer and a very nice lady on the phone offered to negotiate with me. We decided together that the above offer was fair and a cheque arrived in the post
Thanks Martin0 -

Credit Card Company: MINT
Amount Claimed: £44.00 late payment charges + £30.00 court fees*
Amount Repaid: £74.00
At last, its my turn to take my place on this thread. My charges were repaid at the MCOL stage and not defended, due to the relatively low amount.
I also claim the MSE record for the lowest part offer of just £8.00 (one old £20 late payment charge less the current OFT £12). I refused it, by the way.
There was one unique aspect to my claim ,though. The original full repayment was subject to a confidentiality/non-disclosure clause, which I was unable to agree to. So, I actually had to return my cheque to the solicitors! They have removed the confidentiality/non-disclosure clause and have returned the cheque.
* In true MSE style, I paid my court fee using my new Morgan Stanley Platinum card, so I will get 3% cashback on them! The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0
