Bank Charges Success Stories II

Sent 1st letter to Barclay card without the £10, they requested I sent the £10, so I did, but before the cheque was cashed I received an offer letter for £152. I noticed the cheque was cashed the next day and still I received no statements. I rang them because even though I had received an offer, they seemed to have skipped the statement process that I had paid for. The statements did arrive eventually, but the amount didn't seem to add up to what they had offered, only by a few pounds, but it made me think they had missed some out. Anyway, I decided to accept the offer as it cleared half of the balance I owe. The whole process took about 4 weeks.
Sent all the letters to Barclays bank, the final one was the court letter, but they got back to me with it will take so many weeks but I should receive a response no later than 18th June. I decided to wait rather than start court proceeding because of cost. I got home on 6th June to a letter offering me £1140. I was asking for £1500, this included interest. I am accepting this amount as it is really close to the amount they owe without interest. I am very pleased with the outcome and I have all on Money Saving Expert to thank.0 -
Hi Folks,
Just to let you know that i got 75% of my charges back for the last 4 years.
They didn't charge me for my bank statements going back 6 yrs after i sent the initial letter which i sent from one of the templates from this site.
I didnt even ask them for my charges back i just said i was unhappy about them?
They sent me a letter saying that i had been in touch with them about my
charges and they had calculated that i had £800.00 bank charges.
They went onto offer me £600.00 back.
Without prej and a dissclaimer form which i signed and sent back today 7/6/7
The money should be in my account within 14 day ace.
Really chuffed
thanks Andy0 -

My 28 days aren't up unill the 12th also but have just checked my account out of curiosity to find my claim to have been returned!. This too totals the amount of our charges - BUT - hasn't included the interest or costs!!
These add upto just a little over £1,000! So I expect these back too (heres hoping anyway!)

I to spoke to Kathy.
I had a claim for £2,364.00 with natwest and had been told that an offer letter had been sent to me on 10th May, 3 weeks later had not received this so call customer services who told me they would send a duplicate this did not happen either. Spoke to cathy about 10 days ago, she got me another letter sent out offer £2364 which got to me on Monday and I signed it and returned it. Kathy rang me on Tuesday to check I had received letter, I told her I had returned she said she would check and push it forward. Money went into my account today.0 -
My claim was for £511. We were in the process of going to court and the day after receiving my Allocation questionnaire Abbey sent me a letter saying they wanted to settle out of court and offered £360. I said I would provided they added £35 on for the charge that had been added since I started proceedings. Ronan and both Inga agreed and said they were requesting a cheque that would show in my account by Friday!
To be honest, I am happy with the amount as I can get my PS3 I've been looking forward too. I'll be closing the account as soon as I take every penny out as I've opened another that I am happy with.0 -

Bank : HSBC
Amount reclaimed :£ 1,050 + interest. (total for 2 accounts)
Amount Paid : £961.
Wrote to HSBC requesting list of charges and included in £10 per account. In fairness to HSBC they sent the statements and my cheques! Sent off first template letter including interest. Received a confirmation of receipt letter by return informing me of the 8 weeks they had to deal with my claim. It would seem HSBC intend to use the entire 8 weeks! The due date for the 8 weeks was today (7th June) I phone them two days ago and was told that nothing was in the system to be sent and I would receive a letter in 7-10 days. I explained that this wasn't good enough and they had had 8 weeks and I would now take this further if I received nothing on the 7th June. To my surprise what did I find on the post mat this morning but two letters dated yesterday with a grand total of £961. It seems HSBC feel they are justified in their charges but the legal costs of defending their position are prohibitive to them going to court. It is also apparent that a little pestering on the phone goes a long way to getting them to pay up!
All in all a good fiscal day!
Keep on saving I know I will!
