Bank: Barclays
Amount claimed : 3535
Amount received : 2620
original letter sent with in May, received reply saying they were taking up to 8 weeks to deal with it. Received offer letter in July, returned it and they paid up immediately0 -
Started my process on 22/05/07. They lost my documents which was confirmed by them on the phone when i called to ensure they had received my intial letter. I resent them a copy of everything on 04/06/07.
They waited the full 8 weeks and 2 days before offerring me the amount requested less 15% which i was happy to accept. They state in their offer letter that the funds would be in my account within 14 days from the date on the letter and sure enough they made me wait the full 14 days before paying out.
Payment of £1074 was received in 02/08/07.

started reclaiming charges in February 2007
(actually been trying for two years to sort this out... they said I was under my limit - they didn't send statements for a year so I would ring each month to check! they ignored my 22 letters - they put the phone down on me when I asked if I can do a repayment plan as I was unemployed at the time! and this was when the charges were £150 over - they kept adding £90each month until it got to £500 in charges then let me set up repayment plan - how kind!
1st letter sent 28/02/07
2nd letter sent 16/03/07
3rd letter sent (lba) 27/03/07

apparently they feel the time and cost is not worth it so they do not agree (blah blah - I don't agree either).
I'm so chuffed - thought a 'stay' would be added as this has happened to someone else and I couldn't find any one who had won against Monument!!
thanks to all and especially to this site - I find it very helpful and I didn't have anywhere else to go for advice (not just for finance info!)

After getting tiny offers from NW and Mint after the first two letters, I sent the Financial Ombudsman complaint forms on 19 July. I received the offer letters this morning. I had almost given up on the FOS, but they might have accelarated things a bit now they don't deal with overdraft charges anymore.0 -
