  • HSBC.
    Requested £502.00
    Won £380.00

Viewed statements online, wrote one letter. Got a reply saying it was being looked into - two months later got a letter offering £380.00 - all for the price of a stamp!

HSBC were actually really helpful! - i didn't want to have to close my account so checked with them first and they said if it was my first claim i could keep my account!

Thank you so much for the templates and advice, wouldn't have done it with out this website.
  • Bank: Abbey
    Amount claimed: £4787 with interest.
    Amount recieved; £4787
Thanks to Martin and his templates recieved a full settelment, cheque arrived Saturday. Abbey first declined my claim, then offered £3110, then offered £645 and to drop any pending charges, then offered £3110 again. Took them to court Abbey didnt respond in time, so judgement made in my favour. Thanks again to Martin, now in the middle of reclaiming charges from the Halifax.

  • Barclays Bank - (originally The Woolwich)

    Amount Claimed: £2,320.00
    Amount Received: £1,661.00

I wrote a letter end of April requesting a list of my charges with a cheque for £10 which they returned to me. I then wrote a letter end of May asking for my money back, after a few letters in between reassuring me that my complaint was being looked into, I then received a letter 2nd July with an offer of £1,661 but not admitting to liability. As I have two children under 2.5 yrs of age I decided that this amount was too risky to challenge and accepted their offer in full and final settlement of my complaint.

Thank you very much :money: :T
  • HSBC

Amount claimed : £1964 (excluding interest)

    Amount recieved : £1669.40

After just the first letter requesting the charges back I received a letter this morning offering me £1669.40 but stating they were not admitting liability. Unbelieveable. Never thought it would be this easy.
We will now be taking our long awaited holiday to Florida.

Thank You Martin - what a star!

I'm new to posting on the site, but get the mailout every week and used Martin's reclaiming guide to go after RBS who over six years have taken over £3500 in charges from my account.

The process initially started last September but didn't really commence until May 22nd this year when I asked for my charges back. A total of ten letters and seemingly nothing, still had debt collection agencies on my back.

I prepared my pack to go to the Financial Ombudsman and was ready to send this week. I decided to go with the FO following Martin's advice about the FO 100% success rate. However, I received a letter from RBS last night, sated 18th July so just within the two-month deadline I had given of the 19th July offering the full amount I claimed for - £3500.34!!!

I didn't claim for interest - I was going to in my claim to the FO but I wanted it dealt with as swiftly as possible. The letter of acceptance is going in the post!!

Keep going and if you can seek advice from the Citizens advice bureau, consumer credit counselling line and Trading Standards should you recieve threatening letters- I add and brought this up continously from RBS to show that I wasn't on my own but had been consulting other organisations as to what I was legally entitled too. I still have charges disputes to settle - Capitol One, Egg but should they prove unwilling to refund, I'll be using the Financial Ombudsman. It takes longer but I still have the option of court afterwards should they fail to reach a settlement!

Happy to answer any queries - thanks for all the help Martin, you're a star!!
Slowly but surely getting rid of my debts ;)
