Took 8 weeks from the date I asked for my money back, but NatWest have paid me £3347 in bank charges. They made the offer of the Wednesday, (had to sign to say I now agree to their charges) and the money was in my account by the Friday.

HSBC took a little longer but after 10 weeks, made an offer of £1325, (asked for £1350, they deducted £25 cause they already paid me that one, oopps), have signed to accept, 7 days ago, still waiting for the money, HSBC say will take 10 - 14 days, bet they'll hang this one out to the last minute:rotfl:

    NATWEST

    Amount claimed: £2300 + £300 interest
    Amount paid: £2300

Letter sent with £10 for charges and second letter sent requesting the amount, with threat of court action.

Letter arrived saying they were looking into it.

Six weeks later full offer arrived.
  • Bank: LLOYDSTSB Plc.

Amount Reclaimed: just under 2000 pounds (charges, interest, time lost in making this claim and court fee).

Amount they paid: just under 2000 pounds.

The story: I threaten to go to court, then went through MoneyClaims
  • sucess with Abbey
    claimed £2503
    settled for £2354
i had to go down the 'going to court' route. got to the defence logged by them along with a standard 'we'll win but as a goodwill gesture will pay you 65% £1900, less however much more we can deduct ' letter. i was going to accept this and then i read the result of another abbey winner who said to ring them and suggest a figure you would accept. this i did {you must insist you need the legal dept as it is going to court} i said the least i would accept 80% of my final figure [£2900+ with interest and court costs] 95% of my original claim. she rang me back within 10 mins accepting. i would probably have got it all but i'm quite happy with this amount. THANK YOU to Martin for this web site and especially to Abbys disgruntled employee who told me to reclaim the charges and told me about this site. DON'T give up!!the little man in the street can win and things like this really can happen to YOU!! NOT just other people.
  • I am proud to say that I have been successful now in reclaiming - as follows!
    ta da!
£840-00 - from Halifax - did go to the wire i.e. court proceedings via Money claim and then they folded and coughed up in full plus court costs!
Beneficial - folded and paid up £280.00 after final letter before action - in full!
Today - Nationwide Credit Card - paid in full £311.00 plus court costs after me having to go to money claim again. God it feels good. I have one more and that's Monument and they have put a defence in so that will be interesting!
What goes around - comes around

    Bank: Barclays
    Amount Claimed £1804.25
    Amount paid: £1804.25

I started my claim by asking for my statements on 12/12/06. They finally offered me a settlement on 16/7/07. We were due in court on 25/7/07.

They actually paid the figure in my original claim dated 3/1/07 (including interest to that point) plus court costs. The figure in my court bundle included the interest from the subsequent six months. I chose to accept their offer as it was only £65.07 short and some of the charges had gone over the six year period in the ensuing months.

I don't think my court bundle was particularly well prepared but I put a bit of effort into its presentation and it seems to have done the trick.

    Stick with it folks!

    Bank: Lloyds TSB
    Amount Reclaimed: £1677.16 + MCOL FEE £120 + Allocation Fee £100
    Amount they paid: Nil

    The story:

sent all the letters, they said they were going to defend, the never turned up at poole county court, and a very very good humoured "District Judge Freeman" struck out the decence on the claimant in person and the defendant not attending,

    good so far

i received the judgement, but SCAM did not :confused:APPARENTLY  so i cut them some slack and faxed them a copy of mine and gave them a very polite extra 7 days, they went and i called back, they said they never got that one although i had the fax reciept, explained to the woman that ok it might be my fax machine so i will go to Lloyds TSB blandford and get them to fax it which they did and i got another fax reciept, called today to find out whats happening and they said they never got the one from lloyds tsb either at which point i told them to "poke it and stop mugging me off, im off down the court now to submit my warrant of execution and cut them off" was this the right thing to do, i have really been going over a year with this now because of my court date being bundled,

im really looking forward to sending in the baliffs as my mates dad is the head baliff in the town of my branch and hes game if i am and im going to get the media in on it too as he will tell me when he's going in,

    what do you think

any advice on where to go now ?

please pm me if you do

 they called today to tell me my cheque would be in the post tonight and i will have it by tuesday latest, not sure why they wont fight me, lol

 cheers martin and all that post, intrest rates are on the up, im not a home owner so i will appologise to all that are because the bank is just shifting the profits to somewhere else :money:

    Bank - Northern Rock

    Amount Claimed £962.00

Amount Awarded £1273.00 includes interest added at 8%

Briefly, I used template letters, had final response saying no, went to Financial Ombudsman only 2 weeks ago, had offer from Ombudsman this morning, Northern Rock admit no liability, offer made £1273, just got to send acceptance slip and should get money in about 6 weeks. Awaiting Nationwides response to the Ombudsman now. Since my claim, Nationwide has charged me £60 for two bounced cheques amounting to £23 (because of uncleared funds). I have told them that unless they refund them, I shall refer these two charges alone to the Financial Ombudsman. This will cost them £400. I suggest that everyone should do this and continue to do so. Lets all start costing the banks a lot of money until they behave like reputable service providers rather than immoral bullies.

Financial Ombudsman very friendly, helpful and efficient, would recommend them completely.
