Hope you didn't take offence, none intended. It's just that our consultant frequently recommends variety as way of getting weightloss moving. That's partly so people don't get bored (obviously not a problem in your case;)) but also because the body seems to respond to a bit of a 'shake up' now and then. Anyhow, the time to consider it is if you're not losing not when you've lost a marvellous 6 lbs.!!!:j
No no not all all, I'm glad that you care enough to notice and then comment :A and it's true so what's to be offended by? xx

    I've been Money Tipped!
First weigh in tonight and I'm a bit sceptical as I used to do Weight Watchers (that which shall not be named! lol)

The only things I think I've messed up on for my first week was the pesky jacket potatoes when eating out (Beefeater type place) as I have been informed they are fried??? and also smoked mackerel, thought this was free but no...something to do with using fattier mackerel to smoke it.

Other than those two instances I don't think I've done that bad but tonight will tell!

I think this is abit of an urban slimming myth. If they were really deep fried surely they would taste different?

    Good luck for tonight!
  • Maman - thanks for that, have made a potato and onion frittata this morning which I can cut up and take with a salad.

Am looking at recipes for slimming world quiches as well and will try those too.

Don't have a set lunch break as work from 8.30 to 2.30 however if I don't eat something during the day I fall into the trap of buying something totally wrong like chocolate or crisps on the way home!

Looks as if I am going to have to be a lot more organised! Already up half an hour earlier to have time to enjoy breakfast!

    :)

My partner and I have been doing EE online for about 10 weeks now. We're both 49yo males. I started at 12st 8 and am now 11st 11 (5'7 tall). He started at 22st 10 and is now 21st 5 (6'1 tall). He has COPD which is the main cause of his weight gain over the last few years. We decided to give this a go and help each other.

I'm fairly happy with my steady loss but he's getting a bit disheartened as, out of the last four weeks, he only had one week where there was a loss. He never exceeds his syns and eats plenty of free and superfree foods.

He can't supplement the eating change with a lot of exercise due to his COPD; to be honest, in this humidity, he has enough trouble getting his breath doing nothing at times.

Just to ask - is it usual this far into it to have a spell of no loss ? As you can see he has a fair way to go to hit his target weight so it can't be that the loss has slowed down because there's not much to go. I keep telling him how well he's done but I know nothing about weight loss plans etc to be able to positively tell him that he will start losing again. Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

Welcome Aero, are you a mint one, my absolute favourite
Please excuse my thickness, but what is COPD please? I think it is quite unusual to stop losing relativly early on. I started at 20st and lost continually in the first few months 2lb, 4lb, 3lb each week. I had the occational .5lb but then usually lost alot the week after. It's usually easier for chaps aswell.

It is VERY common to stall though, you MUST stick to it. IT does work.

There are other much cleverer folk on here. They'll give you their ten penneth worh in a bit :D

Hi Aero, good to have you on board. You're right that it's unusual to stall so soon. I wouldn't worry overmuch about the exercise. I do very little and, unlike your partner, it's just because I'm an idle so and so.:o

Assuming he's not a secret eater;) I'd say there are a few possible reasons. He may be eating too much fruit. That can slow up weightloss in some people, particularly things like grapes and bananas. If that's the case, try to have the suprefree more as veg. There may be something in his diet where there are syns without him realising it, perhaps the wrong brand of something. I don't know a great deal about COPD but might he be taking some medication with weightgain as a side effect. He'd need to speak with his doctor. Then, like frogga says not everyone loses in a regular pattern so he might have a big loss sometime soon.

What I would definitely recommend is that he sticks at it. It's a healthy way of eating. I assume you do go to a group. I'd keep a food diary of every morsel that passes his lips and ask the consultant to look over it and make suggestions. Alternatively, you could post your food on here and we'll comment.
