Well apart from the fact its a daily mail article I love the quote about vested interests and that they list Xylitol and aspartame in the same sentence as if they were similar. Some people with a certain genetic disposition can have very adverse side effects from Aspartame. Why do you think it always has a warning about being a source pf Phenylalanine?
Then there is the misleading quote about fructose being the same as other sugars. NO IT IS NOT it gets metabolised as a fat
And of course this gem "If that were the case, then starchy foods such as bread, which does not taste sweet, wouldn’t trigger insulin, when of course it does,’ replies Collins."
Bread in a supermarket contains sugar anyway but the starch she is talking about is a long chain of glucose molecules. Of course it spikes insulin.
The idea all calories are the same is one of the great diet myths that have conned people out of money for years. nutrition and how the body uses and stores food is way way more complex than the Daily mails simplistic twaddle
For the record Xylitol and stevia are nothing like aspartame and acesulfameK in toxicity. Those two sweeteners make up 75% of all complaints to the FDA. I wonder who has the vested interest. The people made ill by these chemicals or the manufacturers and the diet companies making millions

I like to give people as many choices as possible to do what I want them to. (Milton H Erickson I think)

Am already panicing about what the scales will say in the morning :o

Have just made a last min dash to Sainsbugs before they closed to buy goodies for the last binge tonight. Didn't go too mad, although I've been dreadful already today. I won't write it all down because you would be truely shocked.

I have lots of high hopes about the next 6 weeks. Want to lose loads, walk loads, bike loads, clean loads, save loads, but most of all, want to feel loads better about myself, because at the moment, i feel like total poo...

If it makes you feel any better I've done pretty much the same today, was at a party just couldn't say no to the cake and the pastries.
Same history started at over 20stone at the beginning of last year -Smashed my target and dropped to just above 13 by december.
A part of it -for me- is knowing how easy was for me to lose it -TOO FAST. Now I have to go slow and thats just getting in the way. All the "whats the point" whispers in my head and the "I really want that."

I've done so well this week, I'm really proud of myself, but tomorrow is always a danger day for me - I get so nervous about weigh in on Tuesday morning that I think I 'think myself hungry' on a Monday & just want to eat everything in sight! Must 'plan' my meals so I have no excuse ;)

Hope everyone's had a lovely weekend. The heat is dying & as much as it was too hot for my DD, I'm going to miss it :(

Gosh, so many of us are in the same boat aren't we? And we're all so chubby the damm thing will sink if we're not careful :D

Seems likes you and I have done a very simlar thing Swiper. Although have you put on as much as me I wonder? I've just weighed, and I'm 15st again. I expected it to be that bad. It could have, should have, been a lot worse :o

Well, ho hum. Day 1 Week 1 of the Summer Holidays. We've got 6 weeks ahead to really sort this out. I was really really happy at 13st, a curvy size 12 would you believe? I'm so going for it this holiday. I'm going to do it :D

If there is anyone else struggling, today is day 1. There are so many on here you have done brilliantly well, lets join them ;)

Another one who over-indulged over the weekend but I've got 3 days to try to rein it back a bit - just counted up syns since my last WI on Thursday and I've only got 15 syns left for the 3 days! Looks as though I'll have to be very careful with only 5 syns a day.

I'm having an EE days today as I've got some very lean pork to use up so am making a sweet and sour sauce to go with it and will serve with egg noodles to make it filling enough. Not sure what I'm having for breakfast and lunch yet but probably something with eggs for breakfast - maybe scrambled with some mushrooms and beans; and then salad of some description for lunch.

Think I'll go for Green days tomorrow and Wednesday as seem to be able to eat more filling foods on those days!

I just measured out my cereal for the first time and  how small an amount is 35g! Made me realise that I have been eating huge portions.

Been enjoying a few of the salads in the recent magazine and looking forward to trying a few more recipes :D
