Hi aggypanthus, thanks for your comments. Unfortunately my GP knows less about living with a J pouch than I do! My consultant that performed my op just told me to do my best- ie just et as much fruit and veg as I can, without causing myself too many problems ( ie if I eattoo many, I end up on the throne all night!) I can't actually damage anything - it's just a low residue diet is easier to love with- but not very weight less friendly !

My kids are 22,17 and the child with special needs is 11. I know from my experience as a Midwife that it would have been a LONG drawn out, horrendous ordeal to try and prove negligence / damage, especially given his diagnosis was left at Autism in the absence of any better one. He does get DLA and that has helped me to get him therapy that has not been available locally on the NHS.

Yes, I know some cases can take years.
Doesnt it take a few yrs till autism can be diagnosed?

Hi Aggy  Good luck with doing the plan your way. You might find you remove the pressure which has been too much and you start to lose beautifully at a pace that is good for you. I have been struggling since November to really get started (you know 3lbs off, 2lbs on, 0.5lbs off, 2lbs on etc) but I've given myself a good talking to and I think I've got my motivation back (here's hoping anyway!).

Good luck and look forward to sharing this journey with you!

I also got a dress today from ASDA. The size 18 is too tight so I had to buy the size 20. This is the first time I have had to buy this size although I was a stone heavier than I am now in 2005 (before I went on to lose 5 stones for my wedding) and I was squeezing myself into a size 18 - probably should have bought Size 20 then but I didn't. But I don't really care tbh as it looks FAB and I feel at least, ok, in it! It's for work and I like to look smart despite being so overweight.

    NYD xxx

As always you are very kindly and supportive :)
    I got a 16 when I thought I'd need an 18 .
I am still squeezing in to a 14 on the bottom though.
The warmer weather might make it easier for you, with fruit and salads galore. You have done well to keep it stable all this time.

Yes, he was three and a half. He actually behaviours more like an Aspie, but they would not give him that diagnosis because he had some speech delay ( but he had glue ear so they SHOULD have discounted that.) it's a moot point now they have gotten rid of the Aspergers diagnosis, anyway! He's doing pretty well- in mainstream school and was described as the brightest boy in his class last parents evening. Unfortunately he has major problems with his peer relationships :(
Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it!

    Morning all,

Ooh, a new thread, lovely :D

Suzi Q - I don't know if this has been answered and I've missed it but plain fat free yogurt or fromage frais is free. Pretty much all of the WW yogurts are free too.

G&B - sorry to hear you're struggling, sending you good positive thoughts. Good to hear from you though.

RFD - You never know, you might enjoy living with people even more than living alone - if you get on well you've got a ready-made social life literally on your doorstep! Do you already know the people you're moving in with? Good luck with the move :)

Jinny and others re. curry loaf - I make this now and then and it is lovely, though I wouldn't say it tastes anything like onion bhajis - for a start it doesn't contain any onion! It does have that sort of texture though, and I think most people have it as an accompaniment to / starter for curry in the way that bhajis would be, so maybe that's what was meant. You could try putting onion in and see what happens? Can't see any reason why it wouldn't work in individual portions - the worst thing about doing it as a loaf is it breaks easily while hot so you should let it cool before turning out and cutting, but I normally don't have time so it's a bit fragile. Also, it sticks which again causes it to break so I'd recommend using some baking liner or similar - fry light and a non-stick loaf tin didn't stop mine sticking then falling apart! :rotfl:

WI tonight- feeling good about what I've been doing and feel thinner even though it's * week so fingers crossed.

Have a good day folks :)

Wow! I thought I was organised planning week to week. Month to month is amazing! Well done you - do you stick to it?NYD:)

Not completely but most of the time. I do monthly as that's when DH gets paid (I only get a small pension which covers the mortgage and endowment - we didn't get a mortgage until late in life so will be paying until DH retires in about 3 years!).

I find it reasonably easy - I just start out with the Sunday as we usually have a roast and then LOs for a couple of days during the week and then just fill in the gaps with stuff like spag bol; HM soups, jacket pots with beans or tuna mayo. I get a lot of recipes from the SW website and magazines and also lots of ideas from the group I attend.

The most difficult part is what to have for breakfast and lunch to fit in with whether I am planning a Red, Green or EE day. I tend to do Red and Green during the week and EE at the weekend as I find that easier to plan when I've got to do 3 meals a day for both of us.

    Sorry about the essay:rotfl:.

I am feeling ever so slightly more positive about things. I've worked out that if I stop at the larger supermarket on my way to work on a Monday, then I can pick up bits and pieces to see me through the early part of the week. I usually shop at the Mr T Metro or Express and fruit and veg choices are limited so I mostly don't bother. I've also decided to use a posh notebook I bought from paper chase as a meal planner book, now I just need to sit down and write in it !!

Can I join in please? :D

Had a very turbulent few years, end of a 30+ year marriage, dating again in my 50's , met a wonderful man who is now my husband, and after a honeymoon cruise, weekends away, cooking for lovely DH and DD's wedding, I find myself at 15 st 2 lbs :o

Got all my SW books out, planning on EE, sadly cannot get to meetings due to DH's work pattern and looking after DGS.

It's nearly 3 years since I last did a SW class and I have put on 16lbs since then.....

So starting again today.....hope you dont mind me tagging along with you other SWers :D
