That post, Hunger Hurts, is from nearly a year ago. She seems to be doing ok now, and is campaigning hard for poverty in this country to be acknowledged as the problem it is. I think she's writing a book of recipes based on her experiences to help others. She makes bean burgers for 9p each and stuff. Just wanted to put your mind at ease. That's not to say that there aren't 500,000 people in the UK in that position though, skipping meals to feed their kids and not knowing where the next food will come from :(

    PGxx

Thanks - yes I did notice the date as I browsed the other articles & it's great to see she's doing better, but I saw a similar documentary last week with a woman doing the same thing. It's the reason I will start to give to food banks as of next month - if I can save some of our budget by using Jack's recipes, then I'll give the food banks what we save. People who want to work shouldn't be hindered in the way she was - I know it's had to manage from an official point of view but something has to change.

It's bad enough I can't afford to go back to work (after childcare & a bit of petrol I'll be getting into debt which I couldn't pay back) but thankfully live in relative 'luxury' as hubby's got a decent job (I won't tempt fate by saying 'secure'!) xx

How is pointing out the healthier option negative?

It's your opinion that it is healthier - no-one else's!! We are here to lose weight so full fat products aren't on the menu. End of.

    Hi everybody

I rejoined last night and found i had put on 1st - 6lb since Christmas. You all seem a friendly bunch so can i join in and lose weight 'The healthy way' A quick question first if that is ok?

WW Berry fruit layer fromage frais, love them but surely they aren't 2.5 syns each. I am going to follow green this week and i put all the details in and it came out with that number. What am i doing wrong?

If they have a fruit layer, then they probably are 2.5 syns. The fruit layer Muller's aren't free either xx

Edit - just checked syns online & they come out at 0.5 syns each ;) xx

well i tried a yogurt yesterday and managed two tea spoons but the texture and flavour just isn't for me, almost like porridge. i know some people enjoy them but they aren't for me. tho i am going to try it frozen and see if i like it better.

I'm not a yogurt fan either gwen. I occasionally buy Total 0% to have on strawberries and I can manage the FF natural mixed with stuff to make a dip but that's it.

Lovely idea about the food bank skintcatt I'm going to check out where our local one is and donate too. A couple of years back one of our SW members asked for donations. The idea was that new people might want to bring in all the storecupboard tins, jars and packets from preSW to get rid of temptation and help people at the same time. I got rid of bags of sugar!

Today was better than I thought. I went out for lunch but was fairly good. Wasn't really hungry so had a gravlax starter salad (and a side of chips) plus I only had fizzy water to drink.

WI tomorrow but I'm not expecting great things as I know meals out have taken me over syns this week. Just hoping for not too big a gain and motivation to be good next week.

I've done something to my back & in a lot of pain (not helpful with a toddler to look after!) & just don't feel like eating :( Had a couple of glasses of sf squash to wash down some painkillers, but have no appetite at all.
I've lost a bit of my motivation too - not that I want to fall off the wagon & eat junk, but I just can't think of anything interesting to cook half the time - I'm blaming the sun ;)
Hope everyone has a good day xx

    Which yogs did you try?

I bought some Muller Lights yesterday (1/2 price in Sainsbobs) and they are so SWEET!! Teeth achingly sweet!!

    :rotfl:

I have been trying lots of different ones since I started SW again.

My fave are Greek style fat free, they have 1/2 aa syn but IMO the taste is so much nicer, it is definitely worth it.

I also think Shape and WW ones taste better than they used to......

And Activia ff seem nice and not to sweet.

There are LOADS of offers on yogs all the time, so at least its quite cheap to try different ones.

I like the Activia ones - I think they're my fave though I'll try whatevers on offer! Muller's are just too runny for me.
