Syns in fried onions is because mid way through after they've softened a bit I add a couple of teaspoons of sugar (1 syn a portion) so they go all caramelised and sticky and basically yummy :)
It's an non sw way that I can't lose :( they become so much nicer and the syns worth it for taking a loss of syns on sausages ;)

Catt welcome back to the wagon ill help u up seeing as I'm say by the door lol

:j some great losses since I logged on yesterday. Well done all!

rfd, you can have 45g of feta as a HEA on Green and EE if you want.

I usually stick to what I decide on as my evening meals are already planned for the month so it's just breakfast and lunch I have to decide on in the morning. Maybe I ought to start deciding on all 3 meals a day when I do my monthly menu plan - no maybe not it's hard enough just thinking about the evening meals.

DH always makes our breakfast. When I started SW I gave him a list of all the things I could have, I just make sure all the ingredients are available. So I never know what we're having until it arrives except for WI day when he always does cereal as it's the 'lightest' option. I have a weekly plan for suppers. Lunch I eat whatever's available, often LOs.

    Right. Back on track (again....)

    B; banana
L; HEB wrap pizza with HEA grated cheddar
D; taco's - will syn when I know how many shells I've had, will avoid the cheese as I've had my HEA & fill them with lots of lean mince, lettuce & tomato :D

    C xx

That looks a bit light on the SFs catt. Probably OK as long as you don't do it too often.;)

Strategy 1 - eat whatever you want, don't count syns and enjoy Christmas and expect a gain of up to 10lbs.

Strategy 2 - Set yourself a number of syns for each day (say 80 for Christmas day) and 30 for Boxing Day and the rest of the time try and stay on track and you may have a small gain.

Strategy 3 - Basically stay on the wagon and treat it like any other time of the year and try and loose.

I will try and stick with strategy 2.

    Tracey

I think I fit into Strategy 1 but I know I'll be making wise choices to try and keep the gain as low as possible without spoiling Christmas. So things like:
    • having a SW breakfast
    • roast parsnips and potatoes in frylight
    • loads of SF on my plate
    • pigs in blankets made from low syn sausages
    • diet mixers with drinks
    • SW chips/wedges with the cold meats
    • plenty of pickled onions/cabbage/cornichons rather than more synful things
    • plenty of satsumas and other fruit alongside other nibbles
    • I'm sure there's more:D
I did buy some chocolate marzipan today (after picking it up and putting back for weeks), hope I can trust myself until Christmas. Also snack size Kettle crisps as decided I'd be more controlled with those than the large bags.

    Today's EE plan:
B: NAS Ribena, HEB toast, baked beans, HEA milk
L: still not hungry so probably just a banana
D: SW burger, SW wedges, tomato, mushrooms, onions and peas (maybe mushy).

For just one syn mildredd, I'd stick with doing your onions like that. I have added a bit of sweetener and a splash of balsamic and that's quite nice but I'm sure you're better sticking to tried and tested. One tip I may have mentioned: I always soften my sliced onions for 2/3 mins in the microwave with a splash of water. They fry up so much more quickly that way (pour off water before frying, I put mine in gravy if I'm having any).

SW groups are generally manic in the new year with people joining as New Year resolutions plus many magazines have vouchers for free joining.

    Sixth Anniversary Combo Breaker
    Hi
Do I need to be a member of sw to join this thread?

I used to be and lost 2 stones 2 years ago, loved the diet, combined with going to the gym........

2 years on... Put it all back on, had a couple of minor ops so couldn't go the gym, eating comfort food etc drinking wine etc

    Help!

2nd question, if I can join this forum, is it too late as we are 2 weeks from Christmas? Is there any point (even though I am fed up with my weight). Any hints or tips or just I just wear bin liners?
    Thanks for reading!

Of course you can join the thread. No need to be a member of group. Any questions just ask someone will come up with an answer to help you.

By the way, welcome to the thread.

    Denise
  • Thanks to Denise & Maman for the syn help :D

Psychopathbubble - welcome back. Nice to see another familiar face (well name but that sounds impersonal :rotfl:)

Tracey - well done on the loss :T:T. I think I will fall in category one :o. I do have a strategy in place though ( enjoy Xmas day) but will be making an effort to eat SF food & be mindful of what is going in my mouth (plus keeping a check on alcohol intake.

Mildredd - those onions sound lush. :j

Lindens - well done on the STS esp on *week :T

No need to be an "official " member - I am doing it on my own .:D

Do you have the books? If not it maybe worth going to a class so you can get copies plus hear the talk about the plans (well when I say plans - it seems most consultants hammer the extra easy plan into newbie members).

Other than that the others on this thread (inc me) are always to offer advice on a menu plan. It maybe worth reading through a few pages to get an idea on typical menus. Most people mention if its a red/green or extra easy day.

Sorry there is no way on earth Anyone can gain 10lbs from Christmas dinner! I think that consultants twisting it somewhat?
My consultant has basically said this week
A- go off plan for 4 days expect a gain
B- go off plan for Xmas day - you might be lucky n sts or even a loss as its ONE day
C- stick to sw firmly and lose as normal
Then went on about how chippy/chineses are the busiest on Xmas eve as everyone wants to relax n not cook and everywhere s clean etc so make sensible choices

However my consultant isn't at target and regularly goes out for meals in the week but is very happy and supportive towards me atm :o
