wizkid - just looked up mince pies for you - I knew they were high syn but I was pretty shocked when I saw how high!

    Mini mince pie 5 syns
Standard size pie - 12 syns

Have to say I haven't eaten mince pies since I've been doing SW!

  • Blimey 12 syns for a mince pie and that is without the cream.

I made some mince pie parcels at the weekend using filo pastry and they were quite nice and only worked out as 4.5 syns each and you can freeze them and cook straight from frozen when you need them. Let me know if you want the recipe

glad i'm not too keen on mince pies!

saw a mention of Heinz tomato soup up above, people in my group have been raving about the '3 can' version that's meant to taste just like it.. not tried it myself as not a fan of tom soup..

    anyway... its..

    1 can carrots
    1 can baked beans
    1 can toms
    1/2 pint veg stock
    2/3 pickled onions
    splash worcestershire sauce
    herbs, seasoning

    cook all then blend..

don't think the scales are going to be kind to me tomorrow.. good luck for WI's all x

When you think that a baked apple with mincemeat is quite low syn the pastry must be astronomical in syns!!

That's certainly not something I'll be wasting syns on this Christmas.

Our consultant done this in Group, just put everything into blender and whizz and then heated up in the microwave. Not keen on tom soup myself but had a small taster and it did taste like the Heinz soup I've had in the, long ago, past. She actually put in 5 pickled onions.
