Mildredd - I think a lot of people pick a figure "out of the air". It's not set in stone once you get to where you're happy you can just call target or if you want to go lower than you've set then you can. You'll know when you're happy with your weight.

Today I'm going back to EE as it's much easier at the weekend with DH being around all day!

B - bacon, egg, beans, mushrooms. 1 slice bread (0.5 HEB); butter 2
    L - carrot & lentil soup; 1 slice bread (0.5 HEB)
D - salmon in white wine sauce (6? syns); boiled pots, green beans, peas; whiskey & white chocolate bread and butter pudding (6? syns) - I'm only going to have a very small piece as I know dinner will be quite filling

Think I'll probably also have a glass of wine - 6 syns

No real idea of syns but say 20ish?

HEA will be milk in tea throughout the day.

Re target setting - I knew I would be happy in a size 12 so that was my aim. When I reached 2.5st gone the lady who weighed us at group made a comment about sustainability so that was what made me call, but then I carried on losing as most target members find I think. It's because SW is ingrained and maintaining is so hard. When on meds I regained 1.5st then went solo and lost that and more so reset my target to where my weight seems to have settled (give or take life fluctuations :) ). So as for setting target, you don't have too. You can call it on the day or set it if you want to, it's up to you. Personally I didn't set a target early as it seemed unattainable at the time so I just concentrated on the weekly weigh in. Hope that helps Mildred :D
Its not what you do but the way that you do it, thats what get results :T

Oh Thanks Denise you make it sound alright and it is really I suppose isn't it? Do you know the fact I had gone over my syns immediately made me think oh what the hell I am going to cheat what have I got here to eat, I must be very silly or just a defeatist.Or just the slightest thing can set us off, something as small as this and I was ready to ruin a good week. Why fgs!I have got to get a grip.

I don't think you're very silly or defeatist suky. I think the 'sod it' principle is quite common but I remember some sort of analogy that our consultant used. She said that if you scraped your car, you wouldn't go and smash it up, more likely accept it and be more careful in future. That's where frogga's line comes in. Put it behind you and start again. And with SW you can even redress the damage a bit by going easy on syns to the next WI.

    Question for target members?
How did you set your target? When did you set your target?

Sorry I've never been anything other than overweight/ obese since I was 16 and back then I didn't care what I weighed or looked like particularly I was just happy :s

Unlike you, mildredd, I did know what it was like to be thin. I'd been the weight I am now for most of my adult life but lifestyle changes had made my weight creep up over a ten year period. I tried to ignore it but I was far from happy, hence joining SW. My consultant encouraged us to set a target (since found out you don't have to) so I just conjured my 'old' weight out of the air for a target but told myself I wanted to be back to a size 12 in good clothes of 14 in cheapo stuff. At 5ft 9 that's about right for me. There is a chart in the SW pack (and plenty of similar ones on line) giving suggested weights for your height. It's not very accurate if you're very tall or short but it's a good guide.

Good morning, survived Fri night tried not to pinch midget gems and popcorn from kids.

B: Flat mushrooms, poached eggs and beans
    l: leak +pot soup
    D TBA
also include fruit, HEa :sk milk
crispbreads with dairy triangle x 2

Does anyone else find it difficult catering for a family as well as trying to follow SW. I don't think I can stop cooking the meals they are used to because of moi. I know I should, but there we go I'll just have to deal with it!

arkers, I'm still not sure which plan you're following. So far your menu suggests Green as you've got potentially 2 x HEAs (cheese and milk) but you could split it up depending on how much milk and how many/how light cheese triangles. You'd still have a HEB to spare. Or, depending on your dinner you could go EE and syn the cheese or milk.

I don't cook for a family, just DH and me. I got him on board when I started and he's happy to eat what I eat but he has extra syns. It's not as if SW is anything other than a healthy way of eating which is good for everyone, losing weight or otherwise so I don't feel guilty about it at all. Also, I do tend to adapt recipes so what we eat hasn't changed that much although he is happy to try out new recipes too. That might not apply to children although some of the threads on OS suggest that some people have more problems changing partners' extravagant faddy ways than children's!:rotfl:I think if I were you I'd tell the family that we're going to try to be as healthy as possible and explain changes that way.

    Today's EE menu:
B: HEB porage, HEA milk, NAS Ribena, teas
L: LO veg maybe with a couple of half syn sausages
D: chicken stir fry with rice and SW chips
Syns: rather a lot today but less than if I went out for a Chinese;): squirt of syrup, 3 small spring rolls, chilli dipping sauce, honey in stir-fry sauce, weekend wine!

Hi Maman - mixing it up a bit but mainly I would say green. I do tend to cook from scratch, but my 6'1' 15 yr DS1 and my 5'9'' 13DS2 have hollow legs. No kid it is difficult to believe the amounts that gets eaten! The fridge and cupboards are opened and closed constantly. My DH is a shift worker, so things are fairly transient in this (mad)house. TBH wouldn't have it any other way! Thank you so much for the feedback - you are quite frankly a font of knowledge.:T

Thanks for kind words.:) Mixing it up is fine provided you stick to one plan on one day. As for hollow legs, the glory of SW is that you can eat as much as you like provided you stick to the principles of the plan. So a massive roast dinner is fine provided it has, at least, one third SF veg!;)

Akers - what things do you want to cook for the family? There isn't much you can't tweak for yourself without having to cook an entirely different meal, although it depends if you like all your syns for treats ;)

Busy day today as we went to another 2 year olds birthday party this morning. Managed to stay away from nibbling leftovers & no food for the adults which suited me.

B; fruit salad & ff yoghurt
    L; savoury rice
D; cottage pie (heb meat) with carrots & green beans.

Saving syns for tomorrow as we're going to the Frankfurt German Market in Birmingham, so lots of walking around all the shops & Bullring, then a hot chocolate with Amaretto & some food - not sure I'll go for my usual Brockwurst as I'm trying to avoid bread, so maybe the fried mushrooms & potato's or whatever else is available! It's a magical experience & always gets us in the Christmas mood though I doubt I'll be able to drag DH onto the temporary ice-rink :(
