    SYN FREE CHEESE SCONES

1 packet instant mash (smash etc)
1 tub of fat free cottage cheese
    3 eggs
    herbs/mustard powder to taste

Mix all ingredients up in a bowl (use smash dry, not made up with water!)
Roll into balls and place on a baking tray sprayed with frylight
Cook at 180 degrees in the oven for about 20-25 mins till golden brown!

Thanks for this, I luuuuuurve cheese scones!!

Argh does anyone who's been at sw for a while know if those cheese scones are actually free or are they classed as food abuse as the smash isn't being used as intended my consultant keeps going on about food abuse and how wrong it is but her example is pasta crisps?

I did think that too but our consultant hasn't mentioned them being a tweak on FB but have asked! :)

Think they may well be a tweak.

seems to be on reading various forums!.. but most stating that if eaten as a snack they are to be synned... but wouldn't syn them when eating them as part of a meal that included 1/3 of your superfree... that's as clear as mud! waiting for a reply from consultant.. they have been all over our FB group for the last couple of days and she hasn't said anything so far.. only thought to ask after i'd scoffed two :o

It depends how much you eat!! I always look at it that if you were to eat 12 syn free cheese scones then it's abuse. If you were to eat them in the same quantity or frequency you'd eat 'normal' cheese scones if you weren't on a diet, then I would say that was fine - you're just making it suitable for your eating (ie. fat free). I think the same goes for the pasta/homemade potato or vegetable crisps - if you're having the equivalent of a small bagful with some syn free dip on a saturday night, then I dn't see the problem myself.

Our consultant tends to say tweaks are ok if you are getting the results you want on the scales & if not you need to look at it again IYSWIM?

can see it makes sense with lasagne doritos as could eat loads of them in one go... but no chance of eating 12 of these.. I was popped after 2 and a bowl of broccoli soup.. don't even feel hungry enough for any tea now, might be a light salad later.. consultant is waiting to hear from HO!

in the meantime saw this on minimins.. echos what beanie said above..

My consultant says you can count it as a tweak and not syn - she handed the
recipe out to us smile.gif Basically, eat as part of a meal (i.e. as a dumpling with soup) or
sparingly as a snack (her point is that if it stops you eating a cake or a
packet of crisps, then that's a lot better!) and if you find you gain/maintain
with no other obvious reasons then you might want to syn them or cut them out of
    your diet smile.gif

I had the cheese scones when I went to Mum's for my birthday and I had them as snacks and as dumplings in soup. She only made 6 though and was firm in once they had gone there was no more- and I still lost 2.5 that week so it did me no harm really.

I weighed myself today and I think I've lost about a pound although final confirmation will be tomorrow at WI- any loss will do!!
    Today's menu:
B: Bacon butty- fat removed from bacon, two slices of HEXB Nimble and a scraping of spread (2 syns) coffee with HEXA s/s
L: Ham, 3 Laughing Cow Ex Light triangles (part of HEXA) 2 Dairylea Triangles (4 syns) cherry Mullerlight, 2 apples, banana. Pint of NAS squash with mineral water
T: Chicken with skin removed, steamed mixed veg, a few Aunt Bessie's mini midweek roasties (1.5) Tesco mini yorkie pud (2 syns) pint of NAS squash with mineral water

Going to the cinema with OH soon. I've already had 2 apples today so I may have a banana before I go..

    Hope everyone's ok xx
