Could i please ask a favour, could anyone tell me how many syns are in the asda fresh rice noodles? I bought 3 packs for £3 yesterday as i thought they would be free on a green day. I have since been told that they have syns in but cant seem to find out how many. Im wondering whether to just give them to my sister so they dont go to waste or eat them depending on the amount of syns in them.
Thanks in adavance for any advice

I don't know if these are the ones but:

Asda Chosen by You Rice Noodles, ambient, 300g pouch

    7½ 26½ 7½

So 7.5 on Green. I think I'd give them to your sister! and get these instead:

Asda Chosen by You Egg Noodles, Medium, dried, 100g

    Free 17½ Free

Same...breakfast is a nightmare for me too for the same reason.

I am allowed to eat at my desk...can you eat at work? I have fruit and mullerlite or sometimes some porridge. Otherwise i have been resorting to a ham and mustard sandwich on the train!

Yes I can eat at work/at my desk - we have some kitchen facilities - fridge/microwave/kettle/toaster but I'm still not very organised..... I'm not a big fan of yogurts and I can take or leave fruit. I bought a big box of porridge satchets months ago and I don't think I've used one! (I'm not very good at making porridge). I suppose by the time I actually feel hungry - my boss is in (we share a room) and I hardly feel like i can sit there munching. Grazing on chocolate/sweets is a far easier option..... (but bad for my health). and don't get me started on treats bought in by other staff - I walk straight past the cake aisle in the supermarket without giving it a second thought but if I walk into the office kitchen and I'm presented with a load of cakes, I can't seem to resist!

I'd agree with that in general terms but I think there may be a problem if you did it for breakfast every day. The 'deduct syns if using as a HEX' is generally because there's wholemeal bread or milk or cheese or something in the recipe. Without comparing all the ingredients of the Nature Valley, I'm guessing that it doesn't have the fibre or whatever to make it qualify as HEB. I suppose you could try it and see if it makes a difference. It's like all tweaks, they work for some people.

I think the answer to the breakfast problem (as with many SW problems;)) is having a plan so you don't get caught nipping into shops for something to eat. Obviously what you have for breakfast depends on your circumstances. I have fairly traditional breakfasts at home (cereal, eggs, porage etc) but I suppose I could make them portable if I needed to. Like a BLT or hard boiled eggs or just bananas.

SuziQ, I think it is possible to eat too many free foods. My logical head tells me that if I have to eat a third of all food as SFs on EE then if I eat a mass of free food between meals then I'm upsetting the balance. What I do is look at my one third SFs across a day rather than meal by meal so if I think I've not had enough I'll have a bowl of berries in the evening rather than a free food snack. I suppose it wouldn't matter so much on the other plans but I really believe that the SFs are the most crucial aspect of making SW work (that and avoiding too many syns;):().

I'm having a good day but it's not going to last!

Breakfast: toast with fried egg and a squirt of sauce, NAS Ribena and tea
Lunch: Salad nicoise where only syns were a couple of anchovies and a squirt of light mayo
Supper: I'm planning a Chinese but beef in black bean so not so dreadful until I add the chips and spring rolls.:o

Hope you're all out enjoying the sun.

I think you are spot on when you say I shouldn't do this everyday. I did start having just one piece of the nature valley bar and counting the 5 syns but I've found recently that once I've munched one piece, I've thought sod it, and scoffed the other piece!! My problem is that I tend to use my syns for meals (for example, sometimes I'll buy those innocent veg pots which are not as many syns as they used to be but still syns. Really I should be basing my meals around free foods and using my syns for treats but I struggle (again this goes back to bad planning). Its been ages since I've made things like sw quiche or taken cruidtes (peppers/carrots/spring onions) to work to snack on. On Friday I had the day off so instead of reaching for the traditional nature valley breakfast, I cooked some bacon medalions and had a bacon sarnie (using the bread as my HEB) and using the laughing cow blue cheese trinagle (HEA) instead of spread. It was yum!

    Hello

Went abit over today. Got some Tyrrell popcorn to take to the cinema but ended up eating the whole bag, about 18 syns!

    B nothing
    L popcorn (18), grapes
    D chicken salad
    S strawberries

Oh dear - I think this was the brand of popcorn I bought yesterday and I munched my way through half a bag !!

I dont think half a bag is too bad - I just consoled myself with the thought it was better than eating a bag of cinema popcorn!

I went to Zizzi last night and had the spaghetti pomodoro. Which is basically spaghetti, tomoto sauce and A small blob of mozzerella which I counted as my hea. I think i probably need to count a few syns for any oil added to the sauce and pasta but overall I think it was quite healthy.

Aaah I'm going back to writing everything down.

I went to wi last night and for 4 lb heavier than I was on weds. I'm so stuck at the minute so need to really motivate and push myself to get on with it. I really need to go back to the good habits I had a the beginning so I'm trying to do that today..............

So it can be done FE!!;):D

I'm certain the way forward for you has to be in planning ahead. That sandwich could have been a portable breakfast if you made it the night before and especially good if you added a bit of tomato and/or leaves to it.

My downfall is loving my weekend wine syns so my meals are pretty syn free. Like you I'm not a big fan of fruit so most of my SFs come from veg. I will eat fruit but it has to be very easy to eat (like bananas or satsumas or cramming raspberries into my mouth) or cut up ready. I'm sure in another life I'd have had someone peeling grapes for me!:rotfl:I CBA to munch on an apple but if it's cut up and maybe in a bowl with cottage cheese then I'll enjoy it.

My food's not very summery today but it fits the bill:

For breakfast I've had a bowl of baked beans with a slice of HEB toast. For lunch I've got some LO cauli and broccoli so I think I'll fry it up with some mushrooms and courgettes and a spring onion (weird sort of bubble & squeak but it'll get some SFs in). If I don't feel hungry I'll just have a banana. For supper I'm planning sausage and mash (Sainsbury's half syn sausages) with carrots, onions, cabbage and peas. Only syns will be the sausages and some gravy (Bisto granule stuff).

I'm feeling less bloated than when I got back from hols and clothes fit so confident I'm back within target. Only Thursday WI will tell.;)

Great plan lantanna. For me, it's a bit like doing a spending diary. It's as if I'm more careful if I know I have to write it down plus if it's in black and white I can see where I can 'play catch-up' if I've strayed.

Sorry to hear about the 4lbs but I've always found that what goes on quickly comes off quickly. A week of being strictly on plan with loads of SFs or better still SS (plenty of melon and strawberries around) will get you back on track. Good luck!

Well I maintained this morning :( Knew I would as I just completely lost my mojo this week - that was not writing things down so now I've got a new food diary & am back on it & determined to get my stone award next week. I've also got lots of strawberries & melon in (as well as other fruits & salad) so I've no excuse!

Had too many syns over the weekend so am trying to claw back some of them over Mon - Wed as I WI on Thursday am.

I had a Red day yesterday:

    B - banana & Mullerlight
    L - chicken salad sandwich (HEB1)
D - pork chop, new boiled pots (HEB2), cabbage, 1 Tbs gravy (1 syn)

    HEA - milk
    Syns - gravy 1; lolly 4, butter 3.5 = 8.5

    Another Red day today:

    B - banana
L - scrambled eggs on toast (HEB1), melon
    D - mince, crushed potatoes (HEB2), cabbage

    HEA - milk
    Syns: butter 2.5; lolly - 4 = 6.5

Drinking loads of water, diet tonic.

Tomorrow will be an EE day:

B - scrambled eggs on toast (HEB + 2.5 syns for butter)
L - prawns, salad in wholemeal pitta (4 syns)
    D - veggie rice stirfry

    Syns: butter 2.5; pitta 4; lolly 4 = 10.5

Hopefully if I eat properly for the next couple of days I'll at least be able to get a STS!

Maman - thanks its so strange though I can be 4 lbs up from last weds - last night.

I still actually had a loss at wi though of 1.5 lb as Id taken the previous week off.

    Today I'm having

    B: Yogurt
L: 20g Brown Pasta with Roasted Pepper, Tomato, Brocolli, Mushrooms and 30g Reduced fat feta - yum

    D: Salad of somesort

We have the 12th of July here on Monday which is a Bank Hol so I never asked last night if we had a class next week or not.

I'm doubtful that we do - but hoping we do as I would need the motivation of a wi in on Monday or else I feel that I'm totally going to lose the plot with this - I was so focused until my exam - damn it!
