ETA - in some respects, I know this is cheating. But I was thinking of something along the lines of - if I don't have a HEB - I'm saving 6 syns which I could put towards the nature valley bar and only count 4 syns for it. I know it wouldn't be sensible to do this long term but perhaps once or twice a week??
I don't see the harm in it. After all, when you buy a pre-made sandwich, you can deduct 6 syns from that as your HEB if it's made with WM bread, so why not one of those bars?0 -

I'd agree with that in general terms but I think there may be a problem if you did it for breakfast every day. The 'deduct syns if using as a HEX' is generally because there's wholemeal bread or milk or cheese or something in the recipe. Without comparing all the ingredients of the Nature Valley, I'm guessing that it doesn't have the fibre or whatever to make it qualify as HEB. I suppose you could try it and see if it makes a difference. It's like all tweaks, they work for some people.
I think the answer to the breakfast problem (as with many SW problems;)) is having a plan so you don't get caught nipping into shops for something to eat. Obviously what you have for breakfast depends on your circumstances. I have fairly traditional breakfasts at home (cereal, eggs, porage etc) but I suppose I could make them portable if I needed to. Like a BLT or hard boiled eggs or just bananas.
SuziQ, I think it is possible to eat too many free foods. My logical head tells me that if I have to eat a third of all food as SFs on EE then if I eat a mass of free food between meals then I'm upsetting the balance. What I do is look at my one third SFs across a day rather than meal by meal so if I think I've not had enough I'll have a bowl of berries in the evening rather than a free food snack. I suppose it wouldn't matter so much on the other plans but I really believe that the SFs are the most crucial aspect of making SW work (that and avoiding too many syns;):().
I'm having a good day but it's not going to last!
Breakfast: toast with fried egg and a squirt of sauce, NAS Ribena and tea
Lunch: Salad nicoise where only syns were a couple of anchovies and a squirt of light mayo
Supper: I'm planning a Chinese but beef in black bean so not so dreadful until I add the chips and spring rolls.:o
Hope you're all out enjoying the sun.0 -
Had a very odd day- I haven't been hungry at all, which is unheard of for me! I had a big bowl of melon with a few strawberries around 1pm just so I had eaten something, and have had a jacket potato and salad for dinner. I have never experienced this before, but I wish it would last, lol! I don't know how I am going to get my HEB, I am using my HEA as usual in my tea and coffee.Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it!0

Hi, can I join please, been reading for a while but not posted before. I've been following slimming world for 9 months and have just got my 3 stone award and hit what I think is my third and final target. It took me 3 months to lose the first 2 stone but 6 months to lose the final 1. My problem is I'm now really struggling to stay on track and worried I'm going to pile it all back on. I've always tried to keep my meals as syn free as possible, used healthy extras as snacks or breakfast and had syns as treats or gravy, stuffing, etc. I know I have too many treats now and extra healthy extras. I've never really kept a count of syns as such just kept a daily note of what I've had with syns in as well as what body magic I've done.
Anyway, going to keep posting in the hope that I'll keep on track, today I've had:
B-scrambled egg on wm toast (heb)
L-meat, salad, cheese (hea)
Dessert-choc muffin, raspberries, cream (lots of syns)
T- chicken, spinach & tomato curry with rice
Syns: choc muffin, cream, can of coke
Magic: walked, playing in garden0 -

Hi All
i'm still reading on my very short lunch breaks at work. Love keeping up with everyones progress
I've been on holiday and had several weekends away - this is my first weekend at home for 7 weeks. As a result I am 11lbs above target (or 7lbs above top of my target range) - but I can't really be annoyed after the amount I ate and drank in Gran Canaria for a week (plus the other weekends away)
I really pull back during the week and have been eating a lot of superfree but it's not enough to undo the damage!
So I don't have anything on for a while now so I am fully on control of what's going in my mouth so am determined to get this 11bs off me
Psychologically it's not pleasant either but I have to stop feeling guilty about putting on weight from holidays and circumstances!
I've stopped weighing at class as I don't really belong to a group and once I was above target I didn't want to start paying again to be honest. I've nothing to gain from going to class - I know all I need to know and what I need to do, so it's just a matter of getting on with it.!
Yesterdays food
B B & Squeak, 2 fried eggs, bacon
L Sweetcorn thins HEB and cheese and butter 3
D Homemade garlic chicken, Egg fried rice and Spicy cucmber salad (5 syns in all - oil, sugar etc)
Snacks - 1 grapefruit, 1 banana, strawbs, celery, 2 yogs
Syns rum 12, crisps 4.5, butter 3, low fat cider 4.5
I normally eat a lot more superfree during the week so this will improve! Have more syns at the weekend and cut back during the week.
Would anyone be kind enough to check if these yoghurts are syn free? They are dunnes own brand and I can't find a definite answer online
125g pot
62 calories
9g sugars
0.3 fat
0.1 saturates
0.26 salt
Darn, there's no carbs bit or protein?
They are called "dunnes stores 0% fat toffee yoghurt"
they are 4 for 99p so I would love it if they were free:o I seem to spend a fortune on yogs.
ZipA little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

Normally on Wimbeldon finals afternoon I would be eating warm scones, ice cold clotted cream and strawberries.....
The Shape 0 % fat thingy I just had simply doesnt cut it with me!!
:rotfl:
But 2nd weigh in is tomorrow so being good:-
Milk for tea HEA
B - weetabix HEB and nectarine
L - egg fried rice, rice, chicken, mushrooms, veg, egg
S - Shape raspberry delight
T - will be SW lasagne, with much added veg and quark and ff fromage frais cheese sauce.......syns 7 to 10 maybe? Depends how I sprinkle it!
S - punnet of strawberries and some cherries need using up
Good luck to all the other Monday morning weighers!! :T0 -
skintbreeder - I don't think you can take 6 syns off chicken s&s balls as a HEb - they're deep fried after all so the chicken would have absorbed some of that. It's all personal preference I know, but if you want to lose weight, then 'cheating' the plan isn't going to do it.
I don't mean that in a horrible way, but then people come on here to wonder why they're not losing!0
