what makes the magic porridge magic? Is there a secret ingredient?

I just added a teaspoon of pad thai paste to my stir fry (it was spicy!). There's no calorie information on the jar, and it's mainly in Thai script but the main ingredient is sugar (40%), no fat. Do you all think it's a good idea if I just syn it like sugar?

Did a body pump class today - at least I can still walk unlike last time I went!
    Trying to keep in budget.

No, I think it's just uncooked - you mix them together the night before & the oats swell overnight. Could be wrong though!

L; pasta, baked beans & 30g cheese (Hea)
    D;bacon, egg & sw chips
HEb; Hi-Fi bar before bed :D

Very light on superfree even though I'm doing a green day, but I'll eat fruit whenever I can in between!

I do my magic porridge by soaking the oats in water for about 15 minutes (never tried doing it overnight, although I've heard that's better) then cook it in the microwave for 2 minutes. Stir through a Mullerlight (I usually use either vanilla or banana custard) and heat it again in the microwave for 15 seconds. Don't think I'd want to eat it raw and straight out of the fridge!

    Having another EE day today:

B- missed it as wanted to get out shopping early - big mistake ended up buying a double Milky Way - couldn't believe it was 11.5 syns:eek:when I looked it up!
L - HM fishcake in WM roll; banana; satsuma
D - HM "KFC", corn on the cob, baked beans, SW chips

Will eat plenty of fruit to make up for the lack of superfree during the day and with meals

HEA will be milk used in tea
    Syns - Milky Way 11.5

WI again tomorrow - think I've pulled back enough syns over the week to make up for the over-indulgence at the weekend.

  • I have never tried, but apparently for magic porridge you add a muller light yogurt (any flavour) to the oats (28g I think) the night before, and in the morning its ready to eat (hot or cold) with added fruit, uses your HEXB, but no milk so its free :)
  • I have magic porridge every morning it is 35g oats mixed with yogurt I use Turkish delight and add berries or whatever fruit. I find frozen berries best as they soaks in through night and add to the flavour. I have it either cold or warmed through its very filling. Someone else at group gas it as a sweet dessert.
  • Obviously meant has it not gas!! Sorry

my cold noodle salad was nice but the noodles were a bit dry. normsally i add olive oil :( .anything free or very low that i can make them wet with lol. would soaking them in stock cube be better?

You could use oil but it's 6 syns for a tbsp. (2 for tsp) or use as a HEB. 1 syn for light mayo, 1.5 syns for sweet chilli sauce. I only have noodles with a stir-fry so then I've got liquid anyway. perhaps a noodle expert will be along soon;). Apologies, but I didn't realise you were having a salad. That improves the SF count.:)

wiz, syns are built into the programme so you should have them for lots of reasons. One school of thought is have the full 15 a day until you get to a point where weightloss is plateauing out then you have leeway to cut back a bit. Some go for 10 only to allow for any careless measuring. Personally I start the week with a bank of 105 and subtract from it as I go, saving most for weekends.
