Ooh this new challenge business is exciting! My first WI is on Monday. I'm trying really hard and for the first time ever I'm having a very low syn Saturday tea. Actually got rare praise from OH- he moaned when we went shopping as the trolley was full to the top and he said he knew it would be over 100 and we couldn't afford it and I'd have to put my stuff back- he was shocked when it came to £82now that's what I call smart shopping

Thank you Beanie, it used to be the end of the world. I've been with Mr Frog since I was 15 years old and so he's seen me through all of my eating dissorders. We've come to an agreement this year, that I'm now too old to let it get to me. I was 40 this year, and I just don't want to still be so upset by food.
So now I have the treat cupboard. I DO NOT eat in secret, even when I'm bingeing, I try not to hide it, and I tell Mr Frog that I've done it. Then he usually says " hope you enjoyed it" and we move on. It's not a big deal. Mr Frog is a lovely size, and he eats whatever he wants. Slim people do don't they? I've noticed that all the slim people at work eat crisps and chocolate etc, and all the fatties don't. They must do it without people watching. All of my slim friends eat good stuff and naughty stuff. They just don't do it all the time.
Last week someone bought a cake in for their birthday. I had some. Just one slice. I don't really like that sort of cake but it felt like a HUGE step forward to eat it, in public, and then not binge afterwards because I'd 'blown it'. I've missed out on SO MUCH in my life because of my food issues. And I just think I'm too old to be doing it nowSay it once, say it loud ~ I'm an Atheist, Anti-Royalist, Socialist, Tea-Total Veggie Frog and PROUD!:D

Now, is the answer to never ever eat chocolate again, because once I start, I can't stop. Or is it better to force myself to have a little bit so that I don't get the feeling of deprivation?
With the help of the fantastic people on here I am trying very hard to control my addiction and enjoy my Chocolate without feeling guilty. Life is too short.
Well on a serious note, as a former boozer who went through trying to ration myself, cutting down, only having it on holidays etc my life became like a constant Groundhog Day. Drinking every night, unable to stop once I'd started, full of self hate the next morning, I eventually did come to realise there was only one thing for it - I would not be able to have another drink.
If you really do think you have an addiction Frogga (and there is some interesting stuff written seriously about addiction to white sugar) then torturing yourself may be something you need to stop doing. If you were told the next chocolate you ate would kill you because you had developed an allergy to it, you would get on with your life, minus the chocolate.
Sorry, didn't mean to lecture but when I read your post and how many times you had lost that weight, and the way you feel about chocolate, I felt some similarity between that and my boozing.0 -
