Thankyou, how do I find the lady with the ready meals lol
I think I need to make more use of the slow cooker for me as it's just a small one and I could freeze half
At least a few times a week it would be fish in batter or crispy chicken or pie
  • Hi hmc, I too have a 9 year old boy, he struggles with the slimming world stuff but loves the fanta chicken (cos it's got fanta in!) and a minstrone soup that we make with ham, beans, potatoes etc in it. When it's just me and him I do SW chips and he has chicken nuggets or a chicken burger and I have mine with fish in butter sauce, feels really naughty but only a few syns depending on which type (youngs cod in butter sauce - 2 syns and cod in parsley sauce 1.5 syns)
    Hope this helps
Shala - I'm not sure if you put my 1lb off on the chart? Sorry to mither!
We had a really nice tea tonight, SW chips, steak, salad, mushrooms and tomatoes- felt too good to be 'diet food'.
Hope all fellow slimmers are doing OK - not read through the posts properly yet!

Just read through the posts and wanted to say to Frogga - when I read that your previous job with the library service was your perfect job that says it all for me, I think you should go for it, you may be able to get a transfer nearer to home later down the line?
I know what you mean about child in need meetings, I have to go to them sometimes and it's something that I try to go home and not think about but then pick up my kids and can't stop hugging them! It's so heartbreaking to hear some of that stuff but the fact that it got to you proves what a great teacher you must be, so if you decide to stay with the teaching I'm sure the kids really appreciate you. Oh god I don't know what you should do now!!
For hmc- yes they are low in syns considering they taste so buttery! I could live on them but have to have 2 at a time! SW is a bit odd sometimes- thing you think might be low in syns are sometimes really high and vice versa, my favourite find this week is jelly tots- 20 for 3 syns!!

Hello hmc It's me with the ready meals :hello: Tesco lighter choices are my ready meals of choice (but other supermarkets do similar sort of ranges) I use the online/app syn counter- for example the lighter choices salmon and broccoli pie is only 2 syns and it's lovely. I don't have a working cooker so have to rely on the microwave so it's trial and error with the ready meals but there's some really nice ones out there that aren't bad in the syn rating. :)
    Ps thanks everyone x

Don't be a wally Shala, you've done a great job  Oooo I'm all in black, how very Queen Victoria

ah this is better, much more me :D

Thanks for your opinion Thrifty. It's last day to apply today and I'm pretty sure I won't. I'll wait until something similar comes up closer to home I think. It's only 25 miles which I know isn't a commute to London, but it is considerably further than now. I'd have to buy a car, and run it 50 miles a day, and I'd be so much further away from home should there be a problem, and I'd be out of the house many more hours which isn't really fair on Delboy & Rodney (my Whippets). And I do love my job at school, it's just very stressful and the library job isn't!

    Anyway...

Frogga - I'd apply for the job if I were you, even if you're not sure at the moment it will give you a bit more thinking time! You can always decide not to go for it later but if you don't apply you won't have that option.

    Having an EE day today:

B - beans on toast; melon & FF natural yoghurt
L - Ham salad, taboule, potato salad (would rather have soup but haven't got any left at the moment)
D - HM fishcakes, sweet chilli sauce, SW chips, peas a la francais (peas cooked with little gem lettuce & chopped spring onions)

HEA - milk in tea throughout the day
    HEB - 2 WM bread
    Syns - mayo 2; sweet chilli sauce 1.5; pink 'n' white 2 = 5.5
    Snacks - melon, grapes, banana

    Hello strangers ;)

Hope all is well here? Will try and catch up a bit if time allows!

Back from hols, had a fab time, lots and lots of food (and drink, even though I'm not normally a drinker), back to cold weather and work now, boo! :( Didn't go to fat club on Mon as was still jet lagged and still had to unpack- have decided though that even though I'll still go and help out I'm not going to get weighed any more- just can't be doing with weighing in every week/month/whatever for ever, would rather go by my clothes and not stress about numbers. I think it was partly precipitated by worrying when I was away what the scales would say, which is silly because even though I have put on weight (don't know how much, haven't been on the scales even at home) my clothes still fit, they're just a tiny bit tighter, and it's a stupid thing to worry about when you're meant to be relaxing. Plus I got straight back into it when I got back, cycling again too so all should be fine. Anyway, I'll still be around and probably going to class (if she still wants me to help) but have been a complete failure in the challenge :rotfl:

Sorry to just gatecrash and ramble- been so busy at work haven't had chance to read anything so just thought I'd say hi so you knew I was still alive, and I'll try and get back on later. Hope everyone is well and on track here :)
