Having a minimum of a third SF is essential to make the plan work and if you can get closer to the two thirds (Success Express) so much the better. I know SW isn't about calories but filling up on veg has to be better than too many carbs. Another tip is that when you're plating up/serving yourself your meal put loads of veg on your plate first. Then if you have a small portion of meat/fish (most of us are keeping that down for mse reasons;)) there won't be much room left for potatoes!Hello! I have been doing sw since end of July and have lost about a stone. Been lurking on here for a while and I thought I would join up if that's ok? I am finding it harder now the weather is getting colder. I don't want fruit and salads now I just want stodge! I think I might benefit from the support on here.
On another note, do any of you find you get anxious when you stay with family and can't really control the food that is served?
Welcome fatcatt.:hello: I think HM soup has to be your answer. I've made up a sort of beef stew in the SC with loads of veg, small bit of beef and stock. So it's a bit like those big soups. Another favourite is lentil soup made with stock from boiling gammon again with loads of veg added. Shortcuts for something quick would be pasta'n'sauce/mugshots or savoury rice or deliberately create a LO meal from the night before.
Just realised it may not be just lunches you're asking about. Having [STRIKE]stodge[/STRIKE] for main meals is easy. Loads of casseroles, roasts, pasta dishes, cottage pies, bangers & mash, egg and chips....Hi ladies,
good day......so far!!!!
B - Weetabix mini's HEB? 35g of bitesize is a HEB.
L - jacket spud with tuna 5.5syns for 100g of tuna in brine
D - not sure yet
HEA - milk for drinks
My comments are if you're going with Green again. IF you're doing EE then the tuna is free but you have to have loads of suprefree fruit and veg before the end of the day and no more HEXs.
I am struggling with the idea's for breakfast. With 2 small children there is no time to be making much so it's got to be either cereal or toast. Then that's the healthy extra B used for the day though which means no bread at lunch time. I am used to having a sandwich with the kids at lunch. Anyone else struggle with this and time to make stuff and anyone have any suggestions?
I am also struggling with the superfree at the moment which is so unlike me as I usually eat loads of veg and fruit but I just find that I never have time to prepare it anymore. Really want this to work but am finding it so hard!
Don't worry lohman, you'll get there. I believe the secret of SW is planning. OK it's harder when you've got a busy life but I've always thought that when you're busy you have an even bigger need to save time. I usually have my HEB for breakfast too but there are ways around it. My current favourite is a crustless quiche/frittata/Spanish omelette. I put in whatever's available but using potatoes makes it really substantial. So, slice/diced potatoes in a frying pan with sliced mushrooms and (softened in microwave) chopped onions. Fry them up (if I've got peppers and/or tomatoes they're great too). Then pour over beaten eggs, cook the base and then finish the top off under the grill. Sprinkle on some cheese if you want. This is delicious hot or cold. Recently I discovered tinned potatoes. They're cheap and easy if you haven't got any LO. Make this the night before and it's brilliant for breakfast or snacking on through the day. Or what about hard boiled eggs or ready cooked sausages (half syn ones).
Fried potatoes or LO veg is a lovely filling lunch with egg or meat or beans or a quick JP. New potatoes is another and I could eat them like sweets when they're cold from the fridge.
I go for 'easy' fruits, mainly because I'm lazy. So bananas and satsumas are high up my list.;)0 -
Thanks Maman - so I had 28g minibix as that's what my old book says. I want to do extra easy day so I've eaten some fruit (is all fruit free?) and for dinner I'm planning on mashed potato (no fat), lamb (oven baked and fat removed) with loads of veg. Hoping this will work then!0

That's much better! I did say that some amounts had increased so obviously an extra 7g of minibix is allowed. Bonus!! Go snack on them!
The only fruit I can think of that's not suprefree is avocado but I'm sure if there's anything else it's pretty obscure.;)
I tend to balance my SFs across the day so having a pile of veg tonight and snacking on fruit will be fine. Make sure the veg is things like carrots/cabbage/cauli/broccoli not things like pulses.:)
Decided to practise what I was preaching and have just eaten a couple of apples diced up with a few cubes of cheese. I won't have any more milk today (will go on to black tea or hot Ribena) so cheese is part of my HEA.
Today's EE menu:
B: NAS Ribena, 2 boiled eggs, HEA milk for teas, HEB toast
L: 2 apples, bit of cheeseHM burger, SW chips, fried onions, tomatoes, mushrooms, peas
Syns: squirt of sauce with burger, weekend wine:j0 -
Thanks for all the tips everyone.
Today I have tried with
B Oats, Banana and Muller light
Banana, Apple and some HM soup Lentil,Carrot and Turnip
Chicken, Small Potato, Peas!!!!! Salad-Its the only veg except sweetcorn that we have till Tuesday.
Sins McVities Jaffa cake bar 4 and a half x 2
I tend to stick to the same things not very keen on red meat but do eat spag bol with Quorn and Chilli with Quorn.
I also had half a pint of skimmed milk.
I think this is a bit of an improvement -slowly slowly does it.
