Hi Ladies,
I tried to do SW a number of years ago when the flexi plan was just coming in and it wasn't understood very well. I didn't succeed!! Thinking of giving it a go again at home as can't get to meetings with 2 small children. Have about 2 stones to I need to get rid of. Can anyone explain how the flexi works or point me in the right direction if there is already some info on this site?
Thanks
Welcome Lohman to our lovely friendly thread
I don't go to group but there is a brief explanation of Extra Easy (EE) at the very start of this thread in post no. 3 by Flat Eric. This will give you the basics and if you go on to the SW website there are some sample menus and recipes you can follow to get you started.
TIE - thinking of you - hope your Mum's test results come back OK.
Have a good day everyone - good luck to all those with WI today0 -

:hello:Lohman and well done for deciding to get that weight off before it becomes huge. Do you still have your books from when you did SW before? If you have then most of what you need to know will be in there. Otherwise I'd recommend going to a group just the once. For £10 you'll get new books and the introductory talk. That will help set you up then you can adopt us as your group and we'll help all we can.
The explanation at the beginning of the thread is a good one. Basically Extra Easy is loads of lean meat/fish with plenty of veg and your carbs cooked plain. You must have at least a third of your intake (daily or meal by meal) as fruit and veg. You can eat pulses (like peas and baked beans) but they don't count as veg. On top of that there's Healthy Extras like bread (1 slice wholemeal a day) and milk (approx. half a pint of skimmed) but other dairy and fibre options are available. Avoid sweet stuff, floury things (cakes and biscuits), fats and alcohol. They have to go to treat status. A good way to get started is to use the sample menu like sukey said or do a meal plan and post it and we'll help you tweak. Oh and you'll need a can of Frylight!;)
EE plan for my day:
B: NAS Ribena, HEB porage, HEA milk
L: not sure I've plenty of fruit and a few LO veg so I'll be fine cobbling something togetherHM cottage pie, cauliflower, broccoli, peas
Syns: squirt of syrup on porage, may do gravy with cottage pie0 -
Morning all
I'd be up for including some body magic in the pudding challenge x
My consultant brushed over body magic when I asked about it as something to do once I'd go nearer target? I'm guessing this is bs n will have to have a research of it later xx

Hi,
Thanks for your replies! I'm not sure I could manage a meeting as mine are 23months and 1 year!
What I don't understand is that if I eat unlimited meat, fish etc AND unlimited carbs like pasta - surely I would put on weight??
My downfall is bread though and this is probably why I have struggled with SW. I did weight watchers successfully years back but would love SW to work as you seem to be able to eat more.0 -

No, 'cause it's all fat free & they do promote everything in moderationBread is definately one to watch - I have to cut it out completely for SW to work for me. Basically 1/3 of your meal (every mealtime) should be salad/fruit/veg - some people also use these as snacks, but I think it works better when you incorporate them into your meals - therefore there's only so much room left for that unlimited extra lean meat/fish/pasta
Lost 0.5lb today - it's good as it's in the right direction, but between being ill on Friday night & using up my slimfast the rest of the week I'm not impressed. Ah well, a fortnight until my next WI & I WANT 2lbs off to get that darned elusive Club 10 award!!
My daughter has just turned 2, my friends child is 22 months & we also have two babies under 1 that attend regularly. Teh daytime classes are used to noisy babies & ours has a toy box to keep them occupied! I also take snacks & books for my DD.

Most people are amazed at how much you can eat on SW but it is true and it does work! To answer your specific question then yes you would put on weight but not if you fill a minimum of a third of your plate with vegetables and that your pasta was plain or in something like passata and your rice was plain boiled.
On the bread question, as I said just one slice of wholemeal a day (from 800g loaf or two from a small loaf). Some people choose to give it up altogether if they can't ration themselves. It's about planning and changing your habits so you don't have meals based around sandwiches or toast.
SW isn't a diet, it's a healthy eating plan. So you can eat as much as you like but of healthy things and 'bad' food moves to occasional treat statues. Common sense really. I'm not making it sound easy as there are lots of reasons why people over eat so there may be emotional things to crack too.
Apologies if I sound like some sort of missionary but I'm a convert.:o I'd never been on a diet in my life until I tried SW. I've been at my target for over two years and I'm still loving every minute of being slim again. Plus I have the smug feeling of knowing I'm in control and eat healthily too.

I can't wait to get to wi in this week to see if I have anything off. Not that I've been exceptionally good but I'm just getting really excited now as my Christmas target and final target seem achievable now _party_. Feeling very positive and on it this stone! getting from 2 stone to 3 stone off was a bit of a battle whereas my head is probably in a better state for this stone.
Fingers crossed I have at least 1 lb off on Thursday and then I can say I've lost 50 lbs!0
