What I'd like to know is, does anybody have a recipe for a low-syn white sauce (the kind you can make into parsley sauce for fish, or cheese sauce for pasta, that kind of thing)? The only way I know how to make it is with copious amounts of butter/marge and flour which is obviously not going to be low-syn! I'll be using skimmed milk out of my HEA so not worried about cutting down on that.
Any ideas gratefully received!Skint_Catt wrote: »Most packets of white sauce mix are about 4 syns - so if this is serving more than 1 person, it doesn't work out too bad. This is how I do my cheese sauce for lasagne/mac & cheese etc as the recipes that are syn free involve Quark and weird ingredients which never taste right & are yuck, lol xx
Lol, I make the Quark one and I like it - use it for lasagne, moussaka and have also done cauliflower cheese with it. It's just a tub of Quark, a beaten egg or two, a bit of salt and a sprinkle of nutmeg, then if you want you can put some grated cheese on the top. It does tend to set because of the egg which is fine for lasagne etc but if you want more of a stir in sauce you could just use Quark or extra light philli, or for cheese sauce I like Low Low spread- half a tub is HEA. Haven't tried the packet white sauces Catt but they sound pretty good synwise.magicbucks wrote: »Hi all

Looks like a good one JoDenise mega impressed
Very best of luck to all the weigh ins tonight:T
Becks I concur re WOTY it is very motivational when you hear the stories and the winner of ours brought in a picture last night of how she looked before she lost the weight She is about 7 lbs off lifetime amount
When you see the picture and the person as they are today is in front of you it is way more tangible than even the mag and site pics as it is someone you know so you can identify with :beer:0 -
Have a good day all. I may take a break while I get my head together:D

We've got a taster morning tomorrow -Theme - al fresco foods.
Am going to make a syn free potato salad (syn free mayo recipe at end) and a crabstick & cucumber salad with a thai dressing (from the SW website). Just need to go out and buy a couple of things to make it all. Didn't buy yesterday when I done a top up shop as still hadn't decided what I was going to make!
Syn free mayo recipe - courtesy of Minimims:
Syn Free Mayo
Mix the following ingredients:
1 egg yolk,
2 tbsp white wine vinegar,
artificial sweetener to taste, salt/pepper &
2 tbsp very low fat natural fromage frais.
Blend well and chill - the longer you leave it in the fridge the thicker & nicer it gets.
Will just need to boil some new pots tonight and chop up and stir through tomorrow morning just before I leave.
Will also do the salad tonight and put in a box and make the dressing and put in a screw top bottle so I can add it just before we start eating.

Hi all
Wow I am ACHING today after that energetic ashtanga yoga session yesterday - still, must have done me some good! Fitness test at the gym today so I can see what I'm missing from my routine. Also had a fasting glucose test today to see if my high blood sugar was caused by the food I'd eaten that morning.
My food for today:
Breakfast (after blood test!): Hard boiled egg, then melon, plum and grape fruit salad. Skinny primo capp from Costa (HEA 1), 35g porridge oats made up with water and blueberries (HEB1)
Morning snack: Peach, apple.
Lunch: Quinoa salad (with lettuce, broccoli, tomato, peppers and peas added), no dressing.
Post gym: 10 x almonds (HEB2)
Afternoon snack: Ryvita crackerbread x3 (not high fibre so 3 syns) and cottage cheese. Sugar snap peas.
Dinner: Veggie chilli (frylight for onions and mushrooms) and brown rice.
Pudding: Fat free yoghurt, strawberries
Evening snack: Rocky Chocka toffee choc biscuit (4 syns)
Seems LOADS when I write it out like that. Am I making any glaring errors of judgement?!My debt free diary | Post Office loan: £2131 1429.38 | Barclaycard: £4429 1988.12 | Paypal Credit £322.71 574.91 | Monzo Flex £169.03 |

I'm new to this thread, having just gone back to SW. Having a knee op in October and want to have lost as much weight as is (sensibly) possible. I don't like to mention this when I'm being weighed but last week I was hideously constipated and my weight had stayed the same tho I know I had been eating a much better diet (on EE) Does anyone else have the same problem ? After I had 'been' I weighed myself and had lost 4 lbs ! have resolved never to get that constipated again, but no one ever talk about this and it made a big difference0

I am always posting in a total flurry!! I've changed from a Monday to a Thursday so I didn't go on Monday and will be there this Thursday. Hope this works out better for me.
Today is looking like, Baby Bel x 2, Muller & Mug shot.
No idea what for dinner but might be supernoodles, pork chop and broccoli or something to that effect. Have so many posts to go back and read so hopefully will get the chance to do that soon!0 -
