Just to add, has anyone seen the Girl called Jack site? It has loads of recipes for a very tight budget, I'm talking 20p a portion or something. Not necessarily SW friendly but I think some could be tweaked or maybe made for non-dieting family? I'm going to try the fish paste pasta while Oh is away - sounds horrible but apparently it is lovely!2011: [STRIKE]Houses[/STRIKE], [STRIKE]weddings[/STRIKE], [STRIKE]cats[/STRIKE]

PS, does anyone know what I can drink in the restaurants that's low syn?? I don't drink diet drinks like diet coke etc and I'll be avoiding alcohol coz I'll eat everything (off plan) in sight! I would have normal coke but there's 5 syns in a can!I'd have a fizzy water with ice and slice if I was in a pub and not having alcohol (almost unheard of in my case:o) but may people tell me that soda with a splash of lime is refreshing. There would be syns in the lime cordial but hugely less than in alcohol or full fat coke.
Sorry for all the posts - I forgot which ones I wanted to reply to so had to look back, old age is getting to me
I'm not a huge fan of diet coke and love lime and soda but lime is 3 syns/50ml (not sure how much they use in pubs/restaurants but it always seems to be strong so wouldn't be surprised if there was 50ml in a pint) so did what Maman says and had soda water with ice and a slice of lemon or lime - free in syns and moneyOtherwise slimline tonic if you like that. I did petition my friend who works in our local to get me some SF lime squash but he said no!

Frogga - talking of the cost of food, have you got any cheaper supermarkets nearby (our closest is Sains but I refuse to go unless its an emergency or they have a particular offer on - no wonder OH says I'm tight! :rotfl:). In Aldi this week corn on the cob are in the super 6 so you get 2 for 69p, and pineapples are always max £1. Asda also do similar, £1 for pineapple and corn, although you have to chop the pineapple yourself- personally I'd do this if it saved 10p but as I said, I'm tightI think it's because I go straight passed Sainsbugs so it's easier. Although I really must make the effort to go to the cheaper shops

Is pineapple superspeed or just speed Frogga? I thought it was just speed.
Coincidentally I was eating pineapple at lunch time and the cleaner walked past saw it and said oh you shouldn't be eating that - its full of bad sugar.
My reply was and so was that McDonalds you had for your lunch yesterday.
People in my work all so annoying - they are all fitness and health experts of course (that's why they working in manual labour jobs) lol.
You can't bring anything in here at all for your lunch as the whole world has to know what you are having - does my head in.
Gosh the pmt is really kicking in today lol - but why can't people mind there own business. :rotfl:0 -
I spend a fortune in Sainsbugs
I buy expensive 'goodies' for Mr Frog and the Tadpoles, cake, sweets, nice bread etc, posh crisps (walkers rather than economy). I buy LOADS of F&V for myself. For years we had to be really tight with the budget, now I make up for it
Just had a delivery from Sainsburys and among other things I bought
a tub of pineapple £2
a punnet of cherries £2
a punnet of blueberries £2
2 x corn on the cob £2
and I've already eaten all of them
The only thing I can say in my defense is that at least it wasn't carp, it was all 'free'. Next week however things are changing. I've been good for the first half of my 6 week Summer Holiday Challenge, for the 2nd half though I'm going to really cut down on the amount I'm eating. I'm just eating for the sake of it, and I really shouldn't spend that much  I am very greedy.
Frogga you make me laugh :T:rotfl::beer::j0 -

The mushroom chasseur is really tasty. It works out at 1 syn per portion if you use the wine or free if you substitute stock plus some red wine vinegar. I've done it both ways and there's very little difference in taste. It's certainly very :money: at less than 50p a portion. I usually serve it with boiled rice so it's a free meal on EE or green.

Afternoon all,
Some fab results recently, well done you losers :-)
*drool* - that is all
I tend to eat breakfast at work so have it about 8.30, lunch at 12.30-1 and tea at about 6, although I'd probably have it at 4 if I could! OH always used to eat late and when we're at his mum's we have tea (sorry, dinner- it's in the South!) at about 8, which is way too late for me but then we always used to have tea about 5 when I was a kid. As most of you probably know I'm now doing the fasting thing and I have to say, I agree with the science behind it so if I'm not feeling particularly hungry on a feed day I'll stretch it out and have breakfast later, especially at weekends - sometimes I forget about it all together and just end up having lunch instead. I used to think little and often was good but tbh having read about both I don't think grazing is particularly good for us. Just my personal opinion but I did find last time we went on a 2 week all inclusive holiday (think 2 or 3 plates at every meal plus dessert and lots of cocktails) neither of us gained any weight and I think it was down to having 3 meals a day with no snacks in between rather than the constant snacking we'd do at home.
Have to say, since not buying quite so much fruit and more importantly, not having to buy extra light everything, our food bills have gone down. It also allows me to shop more in places like Aldi and Lidl as they do low fat stuff (which I tend to buy, diet or not) but not necessarily fat free, so stuff I couldn't have for free before is now going into my trolley. Also, quite a lot of basic ranges would be syns- I bought Smartprice LF yogurt once only to realise that it wasn't fat free and therefore had to count the syns. I found it was mainly stuff like Quark and extra lean mice that was pushing the bills up. That's not to say don't buy it of course, but if you're on a tight budget it can be hard to factor these things in. We used to spend about £60 in Asda and maybe another £15 in Aldi (including cat food), now it's about £40/£20, although last week I successfully managed to get OH on board to do the full shop in Aldi and we spent £45 including about £10 on dishwasher tablets and other cleaning
Omg think I'll go veggie now :rotfl:Its not what you do but the way that you do it, thats what get results :T
