Aldi Cambridge have no PPC infestation and it is refreshing to see their welcoming signs in the car park.
The signs are at a sensible, eye level, height. They are clearly visible with a large easily readable font size and with no petty terms and conditions or restrictions on timing etc. which you normally associate with PPC controlled car parks

and even an overflow car park

    BUT then i saw this !!!!!! !

    Hello hovite
That sign has appeared quite recently.
I shop there 2 - 3 times per month and this Saturday was the first time I had noticed it.
On Google Maps streetview it is now placed at the North Eastern corner of the ALDI/Iceland site immediately adjacent to the "Bradshaws" premises.
I was standing in the car park with my back to the shop facing approx. NE towards the road.

A perfect example of how ParkingEye's business model is in complete conflict with that of Aldi's. And a perfect example of an ideal customer for PE's business - paid up, no questions, no fight!

The only good thing coming out of this is that the lady will never be a customer of either in the future!

Wake up Aldi - and wise up any other retailer contemplating a bed-space alongside PE.
I went shopping to Aldi last week for the 2nd time ever. It's a 24 mile round trip for me, I was looking forward to having a browse while I shopped, which I did. After spending time in the store and spending £70 at the checkouts, I took my shopping to my car to pack into my bags, which I couldn't do at the checkout (which I was expecting), I also gave my husband a quick call. Anyway yesterday I received a letter to say I had a car parking ticket as I'd parked for slightly longer than the 1.5 hours allowed!. At no point did I think I had to do my shopping on a timer!. I've paid the fine, as yes I was in the wrong, Aldi has lost my custom if that's the way it treats it's customers, shame as I liked the food. I shall return back to Tesco. Aldi do something about Parking Eye, before you lose more customers. I shall certainly not be recommending Aldi to my friends or family!

I saw that post and commented on it that she should get Aldi to refund the £70 she paid.

  • A bounce just for our own little Aldi spy - Elizabeth Simpson who's intelligence linked Hovite to Dump Parking Eye but she's too lazy to sign up and post here !
