    *** Breaking News! ***

Aldi's shop in Ellon, Aberdeenshire, Scotland has Parking Eye signs in it!

(I forgot to take photos, sorry guys).

And keeper liability doesn't apply in Scotland! :rotfl:

And they've got signs in front of each disabled bay that come to no more than waist height regarding blue badges...

If I lived there and came across this I'd perhaps consider passing on a copy to fire@cornwall.gov.uk

I'm sure the store owners would welcome any advice the fire service could give on how to keep their customers safe. It would seem almost impossible to get a wheelchair through there without first taking time to move the display unit, time that could mean the difference between life and death.

time that could mean the difference between life and death.

Getting people out too quickly might be regarded as potentially a missed opportunity to ticket. :)
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

Well, the reply from Lancaster Council finally arrived yesterday- it's a bit brief, but does at least confirm 2 things:

    1. The council don't keep a track on planning applications to ensure they have fulfilled all conditions before occupation.

    2. It's business as usual for Aldi by ignoring planning departments and doing what they want.

What do fellow Aldi fans think?

If the pic of the letter doesn't appear below, here's the doctored url for a responsible adult to post up- hxxp://i768.photobucket.com/albums/xx322/MrSteve/LancasterCityCouncilAldiReply.jpg

If I were you I'd contact one of your councillors about this, and tell him/her you want a proper response to all of your questions. In my experience when councillors say "jump" planning officers reply "how high?"

Letter written and sent off to the councillor who heads the planning committee. I've asked for the inadequate response to be addressed properly.

Let's we what happens next in this mini-saga.:)

Small update- I haven't even had a reply from the councillor that I sent my complaint letter to on 6th Jan, which seems a bit poor.

Should I write to a different councillor to complain about the planning issues and the unresponsive councillor?

Whenever I've had trouble getting councillors to reply to me, I cc in their party HQ, and bingo, they respond almost immediately.

If City Councillors are treated the same as Borough Councillors, then the majority will be expected to work 20 hours per week on Council business (for 10 hours of which, an allowance is paid). Most Councillors have full-time day jobs so can take a while to respond.

The golden rule is that you should allow them 28 days from posting the letter.
