It has a front facing cam and Jelly Bean OS so I can't see why not? Anyone?

I may need a little nudge, as I am usually averse to change. I currently use a BB Curve. Apart from the obvious calls and text, I check bbc sites such as news, local weather and sport, trainline, ebay and amazon, some sports betting, autotrader and references like wikipedia.
What I would like to do is Skype calling with my family in Italy, possibly video calling whilst on the move, some youtube videos and the occasional iplayer program.
Although I'm an avid podcast listener, I tend to use a separate device for audio media, an old Nokia X2. I understand that the more files on a smartphone, the slower it can get.
Is it worth me switching to the Y300?
ALso, in order to qualify for the PAYG upgrade deal, which for Vodafone is £59.95 compared to the Sim-Free £119.95, do I have to show them a PAYG sim, or can I just mention a Vodafone PAYG number and they will check?

Let us know how you go with a new sim/network/price plan for your usage, it may well help another minimal user jumping on to the smartphone bandwagon :)

I eventually went for an Ovivo sim. In the month I've had it, I only used 60Mb of data, 40 minutes in calls and no texts. At home I obviously use Wi-Fi and that saves an awful lot of data. But I have used Mobile Data Services whilst out-and-about and am very pleased with the remarkably low consumption, although I don't use data-hungry apps and avoid downloads when not on Wi-Fi.

Today is my monthly allowance update day and I'm not quite sure why my data is showing only 476Mb when I haven't had the phone on at all. I'll check again tomorrow and get in touch with Ovivo if nothing's changed.

There have been several people on the OVIVO thread (me included) reporting the 476mb showing on the monthly update. It appears to be a glitz in the system, apparently if you use the SMS to check the amount it shows the correct figure, although I have not tried it.

Yes, Ovivo confirmed to me this morning that it is a glitch on their new system. I definitely have 500Mb of data available.

The Y300 seems to have good following for the more mature clients, whereas the younger generation seems unhappy with it.

The younger generation want the big brands (Apple, HTC, Samsung), they want the top of the range phones to show off to their mates.

Life is like a game of Top Trumps for them.

Compared to the G300, is the Y300 a better phone?

The Huawei does what it needs to for far less money - so yes, triumph of sense over fashion.

Just bought my Y300 from carphone warehouse as a upgrade.
Put as ASDA sim card in it and it works perfectly, Asda uses the vodaphone network so all you asda uses put in Vodaphone when choosing.

for all those who dont know, its got 1gb free space on the 4gb internal space, and on the memory side currently i got about 300mb free for running apps. Only thing i've done so far is installed my sim card and charged the battery, yes i've made a phone call and taken some pictures with the 5mp camera. Only thing that is bothering me is the battery life, currently set to battery save mode and leaving for a day, will check it in 12hours to see what left.
